I shot a beautiful mallard in 2020 and the mount doesn’t even look like the same bird and after 2 years it seriously looks like a dead chicken. Don’t recommend. Unfortunately went the cheap route but next time I will spend more elsewhere and get an actual good looking mount.

Dale is a cut above the rest when it comes to taxidermy. I've been taking my trophies to him for 8 years or so. I've gotten full shoulder mounts, both whitetail and hog, Euro mounts (at least 6), a duck in flight, and a turkey fan and beard, and tanned whitetail hide with fur. The larger mounts take about 9 months to a year, depending on how busy he is. That's pretty reasonable for a guy of his talent. I've had hacks wreck my mounts before, never have to worry about that with Dale. I couldn't find a flaw on anything I've gotten back so far. He had someone helping with the bird mounts earlier this year (Dave?) And he did my turkey. It turned out great and was very reasonably priced. Turnaround was just a few weeks if I remember correctly. Besides all this, Dale is just a great guy to work with, shares lots of stories from all the cool mounts he has worked on over the years. Looking forward to when I can bring him a big salmon or stringer of crappie to see what he can do.

I have taken a couple deer over to Dale at Back Country Taxidermy Studio in Paddock Lake, WI. Each time I was met with a very personable professional who before even seeing my deer wanted to take the time to hear the story of the hunt. Once we had the deer in hand we reviewed the many options and fine details of the mount. Dale takes the time because at completion he wants everyone to have a memory that they are proud to hang on the wall. Every time you see the animal you are going to relive that hunt and he wants the mounts to capture the memories of that day. Dale's pricing and completion times are fair and as expected, it's the quality where he excels making Back County Taxidermy the best.
