1st time I brought my son's car in. We were told at a different place, they probably wouldn't be able to fix tramission fluid because it was burned. And a friend HIGHLY recommended Gups! They did fix it after all & very inexpensive compared to what he has paid before. We will be back!??

Fantastic company all around. I've always found that they work in my best interest and are honest people (granted they still have to make money). I've compared them to surrounding companies and they are the best for numerous reasons: good prices, honest people, they break down the cost for you, transparency, speedy repairs (within reason), they have great morals, and character. I went to a different shop nearby and they tried to pull a quick one on me by charging $200 to repair a $20 part that takes literally 20 seconds to replace (the cabin air filter needed to be replaced). I've never encountered any scams or any suspicious activity matter of fact they have told me to hold off on certain repairs that I thought I needed to save me money. They are a hidden gem in Racine and have certainly earned my customer loyalty. It's a blessing to have them in the community and I would recommend them to anyone. They also offer a FREE Insurance where they will tow your car for free if it breaks down within a certain amount of time (I believe 30 days). I was NOT incentivized to write this review in any manner, I simply felt they deserved it.

We really trust Jim at Gup's. He has always been honest with us and he knows how it inconvenient it is when you don't have use of your car. He works to solve the problem and return the vehicle as soon as possible. Very fair prices. I referred a friend who had seen her car dealer and been told she needed very expensive repairs. Jim looked at it and was able to fix it for much less. Like, hundreds of dollars less. She has had no further problems with her car. We always ask Jim to look at any used car we are consider buying. He gives it a good look. Money well spent to avoid buying a lemon.

I've been coming to Gup's for years. I'm never pressured into buying things that aren't wrong with the car and his prices are VERY competitive! I highly recommend Gup's!

Was told after 30 minutes of having the car looked at the engine was done and the whole thing needed to be replaced. Got a 2nd opinion because the way it was driving was not like the engine was blown but rather just miss firing. As it turns out just needed a wire harness and new plugs and wires. I almost scrapped my car for the price it will cost to fix at a reliable mechanicServices: Electrical repair

Very insulting! Worst sales experience EVER! Went to buy a truck he was selling for an elderly couple. Their asking price was $2000 IN WRITING! I test drove it and told him I wanted to buy and negotiate price. I had $2400 cash on me and could get more if need be; that he would have to verify with the couple. Instead he called another person of interest right in front of me asking if they were still interested!?! Then had the nerve to tell me he didn't know how serious I was..

It got worse! He told me he was only getting 5% commission and the least he would take is 3K. To buy the truck I had to go the bank for more cash. While I left the couple called, instead of asking the original offer for $2400 AND $2800. He told them HIS OFFER PRICE! I should have walked away. I know he made $1000 extra off me and the elderly couple. I wanted to warn EVERYONE about his tactics so he doesn't take advantage of anyone else! Be aware! There is no zero star rating.

I took my car to Gup's for a full tune-up and oil change. Garages do these types of things so often, they ought to be able to do it correctly in their sleep. It took them 2 days to do it because the paperwork got separated from the key, and by the time they figured it out, they had to wait until the next day to do it.
A week later, when I took a friend to the airport, one of the plugs popped out, causing the car to lose power & vacuum and was running really rough. It seemed odd because these are mundane things that happen at the garage, and they ought to know better.
I was still having some issues with vacuum issues and running rough. So we took it somewhere to get it tested, and there were issues with a spark plug and a coil, among other things. All of the plugs were old (none were replaced), most were gapped wrong, the coil that needed to be replaced wasn't, another plug was loose to the point it was ready to pop out, and I paid over $300 for what was supposed to be a full tune-up.
I wouldn't refer a used car salesman to fix their cars, here.
