I have been trying to cancel my membership for three weeks now, I have left three messages and no call backs. Was told I have to cancel from the gym I started at and live in a different part of the state. Don’t get a membership at the anytime fitness in Oshkosh,WI as the staff doesn’t answer their phones or call you back.

Anxiety was already through the roof because, I didn't know what to expect, but I tried to put that aside and give it a shot. Was supposed to be at the gym for the 30 day fitness challenge orientation at 1130. I arrived about 15 minutes prior to my appointment. One of the employees and I were communicating through text before my appointment so I actually started to feel pumped. They asked that I text them "hear" when walking in so I did so. Entered and didn't see anyone in the office, saw an employee teaching, so I sat down. 15 min later an employee walked up I said hello and he replied with sorry to have to do this but we have a staffing meeting in 10 minutes is there anyway you could come back. I was so caught off guard and confused because why didnt you say that before I arrived,we were just texting that I said I'd give them an answer later. The gym seems dirty, run down, and to me why couldn't he have said a time frame, nothing. So not impressed for the first impression

Preface: I travel full time and have visited over 30 clubs around the US in the last 6 months alone.Pros:1: Equipment is in good shape2: Club recognizes the progress of its members on the walls.Cons:1: I sent an email to Shawn and the club about a member who was yelling expletives on a call while my 14yo son (a member) was in the gym. It’s rude generally speaking, but have some tact near the kid. Same guy was working out with no shirt or shoes. Gross and inconsiderate. Check your emails, Shawn. Two nights later, same dude in the club doing same stuff. My wife engages him to chill out. He blows her off.2: The gym has someone who comes in nightly (I saw him there nightly) and I assume empties the trash cans. The rest of the place, especially the showers, need to be deep cleaned and the shower curtains replaced. The green towels are reused to wipe down the equip for lord knows how long. Other AF clubs ensure new towels are used per member.3: I have $300 noise cancelling Bose headphones and I could still hear the music blaring in the club. Turn it down a bit.4: The toilets are separate from the showers. That’s just weird.5: Runs out of hot water. If the showers are in heavy use…. It’s like warm at best.6: The WiFi is slow compared to other AF clubsFor a club that sits in a town that sees a 10x population increase for a week of the year for EAA Air Venture, there appears to be little to no prep work in ensuring the AF standard is well represented.

Had an appointment with Shawn to get a membership. He never showed up or texted me back.UPDATE: Shawn texted me 45 min after our appointment. I had already gone home.Because there is no way for me to reply to a message on here, I Facebook messaged in the morning asking for the owner to call me at 6:00 today. The message was read this morning but received no reply or phone call.

I was under the grandfather clause of my contract and the gym owner came up and stated he wouldn't honor the contract promising a lifetime rate and no new contracts (month-to-month after two initial contractual years). He upcharged me and forced me to sign a new contract. I reach out to two nearby Anytime Fitness managers that confirmed his unethical use of the statement on the contract stating they can cancel memberships as I didn't violate any rules (which is the purpose of that statement on the contract). When I became a member, I was told that as long as I kept my membership I'd be grandfathered in at the same rate for life because Anytime values lifelong members. I even paid for the membership when I didn't live by an Anytime Fitness to keep my grandfathered in rate. Furthermore, current staff uses excuse of coaching club to push members out of the way for classes and personal training. They use entire sets of equipment leaving none for original members (ex: mats, dumbbells). The sad part is that when these new members reach their goals, they will be stepped on in favor of new short-term members. This is a direct violation of Anytime Fitness purpose, Mission, and culture. I paid for membership to this gym while the chain was growing, meaning I had to pay to use other gyms before they grew to cities I traveled to, and now that they've grown because of members like me, they are stepping on us (violating best business practice and ethics). I would've given Anytime a 15 out of 10 prior to this experience. I want to note that the new owner is kind and worked with me on a new contract, but it doesn't honor any of the promises and contractual obligations Anytime Fitness made with me when I joined. I reported the issue to member relations and they haven't made it right. I have used this gym due to their original mission and values to stay healthy instead of sleeping while staying with my daughter at Children's Hospital (to be a strong dad and role model), and I promised her at her funeral I'd fight unethical actions with all of my might. Anytime Fitness needs to make good on its contractual and word-of-mouth promises to all of its members, even those who carried it to success. The gym promises fitness anytime and anywhere to its members, and that is vital due to how much our healthcare system cannot do for you even at the best hospitals. The best way to ensure good health, is to keep up with fitness anytime and anywhere. Also, they stated that the gym needed a larger facility when it had 40 to 50% less members and I was told my increased rate would keep numbers low. Now, after adding close to 50% more members, they haven't expanded as promised over 5 years ago. If they want to add new members, that is great and should be a goal, more resources and space need to be obtained instead of stepping on original loyal members.

Anytime Fitness is and has always been such a welcoming and knowledgeable community for my partner and I to meet our health goals. I rejoined over the last year and couldn’t be happier with my membership. I was bed bound the last 5 years, catastrophic health issues at a young age the medical community had written off as a “mental state”, “obesity”, “hormonal” or “we don’t know” problem. The incredible coaching team, personal training, and group workouts at this facility have helped me beyond words. After a lifetime of pain with no understanding why, I finally have the words to advocate for myself and discovered a name for what I live with- Ehlers Danlos (hEDS) You can be chronically ill and live a well life, my journey back into the world began at Anytime Fitness Oshkosh with my coach, Tommy Jordan. This gym is clean, very community-based, friendly, open 24 hours, many different group workouts to choose from, an all around exceptional team and worth the investment! This is the real deal, folks.

I was not able to work for more than 6 hours a day. Now I have the stamina to work 8 hours again. Thank you coaches for making me stronger!

The staff at Anytime Fitness is great. I joined for a 6 week challenge and ended up signing up for a year. I have a semi private trainer, and he is fantastic. Yes it is a little pricey, however I do feel that I am definitely getting my moneys' worth.

Anytime Fitness is expensive make sure you can afford it. Trainers are friendly and motivate you. I just had some personal issues with pricing so I'm a bit upset but it is what it is at this point.
