H&R Block was great! I put up with two days of screaming, at the government's paperwork, trying to understand their idiocy. Then I came to my senses and went to H&R, instead, then back home 'n had a beer and watched some TV . . . . . for 4 days, instead.

They didn’t file my local taxes as promised and lost my original documents. My originals weren’t uploaded properly to the platform either, so I can’t correct their mistake. I’ve been trying for a year to track my paperwork down. I’ve done online chats through their website, spoken with customer service, talked with office managers, talked with everyone I can and it’s gone nowhere. Lots of platitudes like “we’re looking into it, it’s been escalated, etc.” Most of their employees are seasonal and nobody is taking responsibility. My next step is a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and I may even have to file a replevin case in civil court. I hope it doesn’t come to that.

We went in for help with military questions. They were not helpful at all - and then instead of quoting a price up front - did the whole return and then stuck us with $194 fee - which is outrageous - he only made $29K - his tax return would have been free online - we only went because of military questions which they would not go out of their way to even help with. This place should be ashamed charging that much -without telling is it would be so much before filling out the form, and for charging a military kid in the first place. We will NEVER go here again, nor recommend this place to anyone

I called this week trying to get documents sent to me because all of the offices in my home town are closed, and whoever is at the front desk in the Monona office need a attitude check on how to talk to customers. Not professional at all. If you don't want to work here get a different job.

Allan completed our taxes for us. While he's a nice guy and worked quickly, he seems to easily miss important details. For instance, I had 2 different 1099-R forms in the same PDF (labeled as "1099-R's"), but he didn't see there were two when he completed the return. I pointed this out to him and asked him to fix it. Three days went by without response (we had already paid him to view the return, so I guess he had no motivation to get to me). I finally called and he said he looked at the pdf again, but he STILL didn't catch it. I had to walk him through it over the phone.We mentioned to him that we purchased the property that adjoins the lot where we live and asked if would need to provide anything for it. He said no. It turns out we received a separate property tax statement that he needed because it's a separate lot, but he didn't think to mention that.Allan will also call at odd hours with questions. For example, he once called me at 8:30 on a Sunday night to ask what school district we were in. I don't care what hours he works, but H&R Block has a messaging system on their website for questions like that. It struck me as very unprofessional to call a client so late and outside of business hours.
