We both ordered the Walleye cooked two different ways, and specifically told the kitchen to cook it easy. Both orders were overcooked and dried out, and also all four filets had bones in them. We were told that we were the only ones that had not been happy with our fish??? Hard to believe!! Obviously not enough restaurants, and too many people...they are all so busy that they don't seem to care!!

My Uncle brought us here while visiting and it was amazing! We had their fish fry on Friday night, the Walleye and it was delicious! Everyone was super friendly too. We will be back whenever we can.

I was able to get "The Hilltop" cabin at Musky Shores on short notice the week before the 4th of July and we found out why as soon as Mike opened the door for us. It was without exaggeration the worst accommodation I have ever stayed at in any location. Filthy, poorly furnished, and ramshackle are the words that immediately come to mind when describing the cabin. In addition, neither Mike nor Taryn stopped by to check on our stay or see if there were any issues, though it appears they didn't do so because nobody has the kind of time it would have taken to detail them for him. We didn't go to them with our issues because there was no way to remedy them short of burning it down and starting over. As a child, I've spent time in cabins with no electricity, no water, except for a hand pump, and no bathroom except a board with a hole and a bucket. Rustic doesn't have to mean infested with insects, screens that hang loosely, dirty carpeting, sticky kitchen drawers and utensils...the list goes on. It is clear that Mike is in the process of selling cabins as condos and those that remain for rent are neglected. It's disappointing to know he would accept over $500 from me, up front of course, for a 4 night stay in that place. We managed to have a nice time in the northwoods because we brought our own boat and had a lot of fun making jokes about the place. "Musty Shores" and "Mike's Last Resort" were among the favorites. I read another review that mentioned getting out of it what you put into it when staying at the resort. My take is that I put $500 into it and what I expect to get out of it is a clean cabin. I get that it's old, I get that it's not the Ritz, but what we got was simply s***. I could have accepted the situation if the effort on the owners' part had been there but it was clear the only effort made was to cash my check.
