This hotel is a 5-Star experience in the most adorable historic town of Mineral Point.
Loved the historic charm and fantastic details throughout. Soft jazz music greets you as you enter the front door which tranpsorts you to another time and place.
The owner's attention to detail is immaculate.
The room was comfortable and felt like home. Great coffee.
The patio is a gem and the entire hotel experience is top-notch.
Great location to historic downtown.

Just spent the weekend at Mineral Point and stayed at Mineral Point Hotel. Stayed in the hotel this year. The room is comfortable and lovely. We had a balcony, but the weather was just a bit on the cool side to sit and enjoy morning coffee. Did like waking up to the smell of coffee coming from the lobby! Loved the attention to detail, and leaf motif, from the bed frame, to lights, and even carpet. Loved out east facing windows to watch the moon rise, and the sun rise. The hotel is also in walking distance of great shops and restaurants in this quaint, friendly town.
The owner, John, also makes the stay special, as he knows the town, is just fun to talk to, and is helpful.
I am sorry we didn't get to taste the crepes!

We just returned from a pleasant stay at the Mineral Point Hotel in Mineral Point, Wi. We were there
for the Fall Art Festival and found this hotel in the heart of the town’s activities. A historic building with comfort. The hotel is within walking distance to many of the art galleries, Opera House, and shops plus very close to eating and refreshments. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet, thick walls! An added delight was the balcony with space for two. The reception area is a cozy spot with seating and small tables. Do not forget to take advantage of the availability of wine and refreshments on the side table in the room. John, our host, was either on the premise or could be reached by phone, should there be any questions. Just a wonderful weekend trip!

We stayed one night at this beautifully restored building which is conveniently located near restaurants and galleries. We stayed in Room 1810 which is on the first floor. The room is small but adequate for two people. It is nicely decorated and had a small reading nook. There is a small private balcony. The muffins provided for breakfast were yummy!
We only had a couple of issues. The first was that the bathroom sink is located inside the room. I'm sure this was necessary due to the limitations of restoring a building this age.
Our main complaint was the loud music that was played in the afternoon. I am not sure if this is a regular thing or just rude guests, but it was loud enough we could not rest after our long drive. If this was just rude guests, I can put it down to "people are people." If this was, however, a regular afternoon thing for the Inn, I would suggest the music be turned down or that guests booking Room 1810 be forewarned.
All that being said - we think the Inn is a great asset to Mineral Point.

A charming, historical-yet modern hotel in a picture-perfect small town, think Galena but made of stone not brick and with a lot fewer tourists milling about. Well worth the side trip.

Great little hotel with charming decor and clean, comfortable rooms. The owners were very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and it was only a short drive to nearby locations such as Taliesin and House on the Rock.
Rooms: The room was clean and spacious, beds were very comfortable for hotel beds.

We stayed at the Jail House part of this hotel, one of two historical buildings.
Pros: Our suite was spacious with a full kitchen, small table, chairs, sofa, chest of drawers, and king-size bed. The bathroom was bigger than average with a good shower and hot water (not turned down to luke warm, like some hotels). Baseboard heating with a thermostat was quiet and efficient. The price per night was comparable to local chain hotels, which represented a very good bargain. Our building was located on a quiet side street in downtown Mineral Point with parking in front of the building.
Cons: The rooms have hard-wood floors with few or no rugs to absorb sound. We were in a basement room and could clearly hear the footsteps of people above. The decor was black and white. Despite strategically-placed recessed lighting, which was really essential, the dark floors, countertops, and accents made the room rather dark with only one small window for natural light. Tables by the bed were tiny. The bathroom had a linen closet where we could put things--but nothing by the sink area. A few shelves here and there would have helped.
Overall, this hotel is a fine and much-needed addition to lodging in the Mineral Point and Dodgeville area, where local chain hotels are looking shabby due to years of wear and tear. The owners of the Mineral Point Hotel are to be congratulated on their efforts to preserve and remodel two historical buildings, making them attractive and useful once more.

We stayed at the Mineral Point Hotel after an event at the Opera House. The hotel is amazing! The lobby is fascinating, the decorations, the attention to detail...simply amazing. Our room was very comfortable and very thoughtfully appointed. I've stayed in many modern hotels that don't have plumbing and electrical this good. Plenty of electrical outlets and in convenient places, good water pressure, window shades that work, lights with dimmers, etc. You can't ask for better. So the attention to the detail of a traveler's needs is also remarkable. John, the owner, was very gracious and knowledgeable of the town and the hotel's history as well as local attractions. This was our first visit, we hope of many...we will be back!
