The car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, Could use a car wash. Lane assist and backup camera are just a couple of features this Zipcar has to offer. At first the check engine light was on and I was on the phone with Customer Support. After some troubleshooting, which wasn't working, she tried one thing on her end and got the car started remotely! It was honestly pretty impressive.

The cars are okay, but they have horrible customer service. I booked a car today and cancelled my reservation before the time that would cost a cancellation fee. When I cancelled, it said the cost to cancel was 0. So then I look at my account and I was still charged for the reservation, but I was getting a refund. The refund takes 2 to 3 days and since this is the weekend, I guess I won't get my money for a few business days. I called customer service to ask why they couldn't just reverse the charge. I wouldn't have cancelled if I thought I would still be charged for it. The representative just kept repeating the policy about the refund like I was an idiot. They outsource their customer service to India I believe, and they aren't necessarily rude, but just completely unhelpful. Any other business knows how to waive fees or give refunds to keep customers happy, but the people at Zipcar are unyielding. They are so strict about their rules and even when you ask to speak to a supervisor, they tell you the exact same thing.

On February 27th 2023, I had a Zipcar rented for a whole day. Got the vehicle on **** near E. Stopped at the pump to find out the gas card they provide does not work. I paid $20.01 in gas for my trip. Was told and sent in an email I would be reimbursed the $20.01 for out of pocket expenses with in 3-5 business days. Waited several days. Called several times and kept being told I would receive my refund within 3-5 business days. Now today 03/08/2023 I called again to inquire of my refund. Was transferred to a Supervisor and she proceeds to tell me they took my money for a 2 hour extension I had made on the vehicle. Since when does a business decide for you, what to do with your money? Also why didnt the other representatives I spoke with several times say anything about it and kept telling me I would get a refund. These people are good for taking money not for customer satisfaction. I have several pictures of broken down, beat up nasty, dirty vehicles. My trip on 02/27/2023. For my last 2 and half hours of the trip the vehicle had a hazard light on for emissions issue. They proceed to tell me its a censor problem. Yet I felt in the steering wheel it needed either power steering fluid or more as the steering would get away from me at times. It is as if they never check these vehicles unless they have a BIG issue. Only then will they act on it. Until then you risk your life!

Its a clusterf*ck. They constantly change the booking, and its always the day off or the day before, and almost never at the same location I booked. The customer service is the worst of probably any company Ive ever encountered and they do not care about customers. I was given a car with a spare tire on it, I had to avoid highways and drive slowly, and they didnt reimburse me for the extra miles or even care that theyd put my and others safety at risk. The convenience is extremely outweighed by everything thats bad.Its wild to me that a company can be this sh*tty to customers without consequences. It really ****** me off.

OK if you can reserve your car three weeks (six weeks or ten weeks would be better) in advance. The car near where I live is always already booked otherwise. Perhaps accumulated data will lead Zipcar to add another car in the future but that does me no good now. Until then, "Adios, Zipcar."

My first Zipcar experience ended up being quite the debacle. Zipcar reduces costs by relying on users to keep the car clean, refuel the vehicle when appropriate, report any mechanical issues or damage, and return it on time. Unfortunately, whoever had a reservation before me didn't show up on time - nor within the 25 minutes it took to get in touch with a representative, have them attempt to contact the driver, and call me back saying that they would have to make another reservation. The next closest vehicle was 2.6 miles away. Thankfully, I allotted two hours of time to travel 14 miles, just in case the exact scenario I experienced happened. (Those of you who have consistent bad luck totally understand this!) Also, the Zipcar representative did put a lot of effort into making things right. I was reimbursed for both the rental fee and the cab rides to and from the other vehicle. They also gave me two hours of driving credit toward the new reservation, which means my new bill for the rental was under $15. Zipcar is a good deal if you need a car but wouldn't be greatly inconvenienced if your reservation was cancelled. It's also a good deal if you can properly plan the amount of time you will need the vehicle, including a potential stop to get fuel or deal with any other unexpected problems. Returning a car late comes with a fee of $50 per hour, and at that point a 24-hour rental from a rental agency might be a better value. Will I give Zipcar another chance? Maybe, but certainly not when I'm on my way to another concert.

If you have to be somewhere in a time crunch be wary ... Our car wouldn't start and after calling Zipcar customer service we were told they had to give us a car that was half a mile away, because our current car was having signal issues. We were already late at that point and had no choice but to walk the distance to the new car and arrive at our destination late. However, the customer service representative (Melissa) was quite pleasant. Which is why I gave it two stars.

Such a fantastic idea. The Milwaukee market may be small still, but it's growing! Zipcar was just bought by Avis/Budget which is going to be huge. But for right now, the Zipcar service in Milwaukee is pretty awesome on its own. It's meant to be used when you just need a car for a few hours for stuff like running errands, or moving a thing, or going out to the burbs for some reason. There is a yearly fee, which is not a lot, and then each car is usually $8 or $9 per hour. There are options for renting for longer. Best part: YOU DO NOT PAY FOR GAS. The cars are really nice, ranging from hybrid to SUV. Reserve online or smartphone app. Unlock with a card, or unlock with your phone! We're living in the future, people! UWM and Marquette students/staff/employees get discounts, but anyone can sign up. Cars available on campus, or East Side. Check it out!

It's true! There are Zipcars in Milwaukee. There have been for a while. Heck, I remember when they were FlexCars back in 2008 and then it switched to Zipcar. Anyway, there are a limited number (less than ten) of Zipcars here in Milwaukee that are associated with UWM, but any Zipcar member can make a reservation for any car in any city or university location. The service that Zipcar provides works really well for me - I just wish sometimes there were more cars. I miss the selection I had when I lived in the Bay Area, but I'm super happy that they are here. It's so much cheaper to get a (nice) car for a few hours to run errands than to own a car and way more convenient than renting a car.
