I once penned a positive review for this Walgreens. I was immeasurably wrong. The pharmacists at Walgreens on South Howell are arrogant and care nothing for their patients. I use "patients" sarcastically because, to them, we are customers, nothing more. Their disregard for their clientele is horrifying. The pharmacists do not care if you live or die and are adept at shuffling pills into jars. That's it. I am a 74-year-old man who must digest a myriad of medications. Because of my age and my education, I consult with physicians about my medication. We work together to find the best results. To my dismay, a pharmacist at the Walgreens on South Howell and Wilbur refused to accept the prescription faxed in by my doctor. She knew better, and she treated me with disdain. My physician's office was shocked. For some reason, this pharmacist was concerned with her "license" to shovel pills into a container and knew more than my physician. By the way, the acceptance rate at pharmacy school is around 90%. Medical schools have an acceptance rate of around 42%. My undergraduate school has an acceptance rate of 12.2%. However, this pharmacist knew better than both of us. We were trying to discover an alternative to a controlled substance I have been on for 34 years that was out of stock. I had been without this medication for more than a week, which is dangerous. My doctor and I had worked out the math in order for me to catch up to the days lost. A 30-day supply is all that was allowed. The pharmacist showed no mercy, didn't care, and refused to understand the mathematics allowed. She was upset because I raised my voice. Hell, I have been out of the medicine for a week and was in withdrawal. She didn't care and told my insurance representative she would not fill the doctor's prescription. Fortunately, an alternative dropped in my lap the next day. However, my physician is still angry over her intransigence. Sadly, I have no alternative but to use Walgreens because of my Medicare supplemental insurance. You may be sure I will find a different Walgreens to dispense my meds. My story will be broadcast throughout the internet. I have contacted the Milwaukee Journal and the Pharmacy Examing Board of the state of Wisconsin. Although this review is inordinately long, please avoid the Walgreens pharmacy on South Howell and Wilbur for the sake of your health.

Lady at the register was sarcastic and kept mumbling angrily about me putting my phone number in when I did. Had a poor temperament. Hope she finds happiness and learns patience

The pharmacy at the Walgreens on Wilbur and Howell is just terrible. Your prescriptions never get filled on time and the staff is very rude. Their on-line system doesn’t match what they tell you and even worse, you get scolded for calling and then told you should have waited for your text notification. When I tell them I never receive any text notifications from them, they say it says here you do or they say I’ll sign you up right now, but no text ever comes! This has happened no less than 10 times. It’s frightening that Walgreens is allowed to operate this way. And it’s demoralizing and demeaning to be and gaslighted and scolded by their staff for politely checking on refills that should have been completed days ago and/or responding to alerts in their online system that actually request that you call them. These people work in healthcare and as such, should operate with better ethics and empathy. I dread every interaction with them.

The pharmacy is always busy the people back there are working hard and they're friendly. The problem with me is getting a prescription done on time. They need more help, maybe a bigger pharmacy. I expect that other people will be going elsewhere at some point. It's obvious that the reviews are not really that good. There's reasons for. I can't say enough how nice they are and I know that they're busy. Something needs to be done and it's not the people on the floor its upper management.

I went to Walgreens to pick up money and I was at the wrong place... a older lady with long grey hair and glasses was completely rude and unprofessional... I picked up on it immediately and when I was leaving I said thank you for being so friendly and she rudely said your welcome... I didn't appreciate her condescending answer... I will be contacting the cooperate office to file a complaint.... I am done with how people who get paid money to do a job is so rude and disrespectful.... I have been coming to this Walgreens since 2004.. I will not be returning and I'm definitely going to tell others and they won't shop at your location....!!! Thank you...!!!

Multiple times now I've had to spend days without my medication. I've tried the auto refill, I've tried calling it in 6 days early through the automated line, and I've spoken with a pharmacist a week in advance to avoid this. They still make me wait days, almost a week later for my medicine after I've already ran out. This used to be one of the best pharmacies in the city. Now it's absolutely the worst. No care at all from the staff. They all look stressed, overwhelmed, and absolutely disorganized.

their pharmacy totally sucks! I express pay for my scripts so my PCW didn't have to wait in the 2 aisle line to get my meds. Not only did she get attitude from the pharmacy personal but customers as well. The customer service of this location and of a few others as of late, totally sucks.

At any Walgreens you're gonna experience long wait times and I don't want to give them a bad rating because it is not the employees fault. They do their best to attend everyone in line. What they need is more staff. I like coming to this Walgreens. It looks much cleaner than those closer to me. The line for the cashier is way shorter than other ones too. Overall, store looks nice and usually stocked on what I need.

Can't get thru to pharmacy, even has prompt due to technical problems you may have to call back. 3 attempts to transfer 2 prescriptions today and still no help. Automated stinks.

Rude, unhelpful staff. Attempted to tell Pharmacy tech why I was there, she cut me off and said "name? phone number?" so I gave those, then she proceeded to tell me what I was attempting to tell her. Cashier wouldn't help me with a coupon, said she wasn't allowed to help. Store manager only attempted to help me after I requested to talk to District manager.... do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

YEAH, this store is odd. Most of the store is not open. Odd vibe. Good pharmacists though, attentive, seem to know what they know.

50% of the store is locked up. In the past they actually had employees to help you. There is this strange policy called "heavy hitter" where key employees magically acquire certification to be a Pharmacy Tech. The employees are doing their best with a bad system. They worked so hard during the pandemic and were showered with beatitudes from the corporate office. Now the employees wonder if the store they work in is going to be open next month.

Very rude pharmacy staff that was unable to give me any assistance. I understand things get busy, but there’s no need to be rude to customers who are there because they are in a lot of pain.

Store is usually clean. Bathrooms doubly so. Sadly this location has staffing issues, though I've seen more staff of late. Kind staff, esp if you're going to also be kind towards staff.
