On April 10, 2024 at 12:00pm I decided to go for lunch to Sendiks to get hot deli food, since I work a block away.. However I went to the self check out and saw a lady walking away without paying and the screen was up, I went to the next register and told the employee named (AMANDA) that the lady walking away did not pay and she went up to the registered cleared the screen and let her walk out without paying..(AMANDA) then looked at me and said “IS THAT YOUR FRIEND” with a weird look.. I turned and looked at her and said that’s not my friend?.I was very confused why she would say something like that..I then waited for my friend to pay.. and was speaking to her that I was going to call and write a review about this situation.. When I left sendiks I called and I asked for a manager.. the person who answered was (AMANDA) and she said she was the manager. However I don’t know if that’s true. I decided to hang up because I received a text from my co-worker that was checking out in the self check out area and that (AMANDA) was the one answering the phone.I felt very disrespected and humiliated since I always go to sendiks. It’s very unprofessional to say “if that’s my friend?” .. excuses me ? Does it look like I steal or something when I go to sendiks everyday for lunch.I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else or myself again.

Tiny Sendik’s but they’re always stocked with a few of my essentials that I can’t find anywhere else

Excellent non-gmo selections, fresh deli with a variety of pastas, fresh bread, fresh fruit and vegetables, spectacular floral department. Love this store and well worth the prices.

Please know that this store does not accept money from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). They have been claiming for years that it's a "technical issue that is being worked on." It is not a technical issue, but rather one of deliberate discrimination. You should also know that Trader Joe's at Bayshore does accept SNAP benefits.

Sendik's Silver Spring is probably the best store in the Sendik's grocery chain--With great customer service, top notch meats and produce and THE BEST HOT BAR! Definitely worth the trip!

My little neighborhood Sendiks. They aren’t always the most competitive in terms of pricing, but when you factor in the quality of items they’ve got, you can’t get them beat. This location isn’t one of their bigger, fancier ones, but they have pretty much everything I need and are always well stocked. Their veggies are always fresh, and fruits are always juicy.I also love to get their “Sendik’s” brand stuff, including their deli meats and liquor.***previous review***This neighborhood Sendik's is truly my neighborhood gem market. I actually prefer my little location over the huge, newer stores that just opened in Brookfield, or Mequon.
This is probably the smallest Sendik's around (though I haven't been to all of them), but I love it.
It's ALWAYS:
clean, friendly, well stocked.
Price
While the prices are generally a little higher than lower end stores (e.g. Aldi, Cermak), quality is always high (fresh food). If you rotate the sales well, you can always get great deals that way too.
Meat & Fish
The guys behind the meat and fish counters are very accommodating and will go above and beyond to give you the personalization you need. (If you need something very personalized, give them some time - every once in a while there is a cranky guy who gives you the fish eye for asking a specialized cut.)
Deli
- Rotisserie Chicken - made with Amish chicken, smaller than the Costco rotisserie, but very well seasoned. These go like hotdogs around dinner time - get there early if you don't want to wait for a new batch!
- Friday Fish Fry is actually quite delicious. Cod is 9.99/pound (about 6 pieces), walleye is like, 24.99/pound (about 3 pieces). Walleye dinner is 2 large pieces with sides for $15.99. Personally, I really like the fried chicken at Pick n Save on Silver Spring/Green Bay, but the fish fry is better at Sendiks. Not all friers are made the same! haha
All in all, a great grocery in the neighborhood!
