The Exam portion went well, the customer service rep(shorter guy) was horrible so I left. I came back a couple days later and delt with a different staff member and was well taken care of. The bad staff are making it very hard for the good staff there.

The folks who walked me through my exams were really kind and very professional, but I think I was pretty lucky. I found out they were hired recently from out of town, and they really are saving this place from a 1 star review.
There were two men at the frame checkout area, and they were anything but kind of professional. One made a rude joke about his wife before she walked in and said hi to him in such sweet way, and the other was incredibly condescending while checking out with him. I asked if there was anyway to adjust the size of some of the pairs, because most of them felt too small on my head. Mind you, I couldn't ask the full question because he interrupted me, and after going on long-winded explanation, he then almost checked me without applying the promotion I mentioned prior, and then told me I could go to a different desk if I wanted to adjust the sides or the glasses. What!?
I don't leave reviews normally, but I called recently to see if my glasses came in to the store, and the same guy the checked me out from my last appointment answered, I think his name was Dan? He answered the phone with a rude "Hello, this is Dan." I didn't call Dan, I called America's Best I nearly hung up, but I instead introduced myself and asked if my glasses came in, he asks for my name, I give it to him, but before i can finish givingnhim my name, he interupts me and asks "Has it been 14 days?" And I say "since my appointment? Yes." R then says he's going to place me on hold and check, but I didn't even finish giving him my name! He picks back up a few minutes later, tells me "call back tomorrow, we get shipments everyday." I asked if he was gonna be working tomorrow, and he said yes, so I'm hesitant to actually call back.

I came to a different location that usual to get lenses and my prescription was expired. That’s fine, it happens. Then the lady at the counter refused to print my prescription for me. She wasn’t overtly rude, but she also wasn’t nice or helpful in any way. I called a different branch where I was told that America’s Best absolutely will print my prescription, even if expired, because it’s my personal medical information. The lady I spoke with seemed nearly as bothered as I was, saying that what occurred should never happen. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to withhold my own medical records from me to try and extort an eye exam from me.
I planned to never do business with America’s Best again because of this interaction. Luckily, speaking with Christine at another branch was quite literally the only reason I’m still a customer. She was very nice while she explained, then got me in for an appointment the same week. She also did it without speaking badly about the 56th street branch, which was impressive, because there is nothing good to say about the 56th street branch.

TL;DR: Don’t ever go to this location. There are a bunch of other branches, but do not go to the 56th street branch.

Let me start by saying Jennifer the person I scheduled my exam with phone etiquette she was rude. But my time there for my exam the staff was friendly the general area was clean and the process was smooth sailing no long wait times.

I Went to the optometrist in Midtown, everything went well, the only complaint I have is dealing with the African American woman answering the phone, I called concerning my glasses very rude and unprofessional .

I guess they tried to answer my questions over the phone. I ended up not getting any of the information i needed. On the plus side of things Americas best will continue to have the best prices.

My father went in Oct 2023 to get new bifocals. It's now Feb and still no glasses. First pair, the prescription was wrong. Two weeks ago, they called him and said the correct ones came in. It was the same pair that was supposed to be returned. He wouldn't accept them. They called him again last week saying the new pair came in, it was the same pair that was supposed to be returned. According to them, he had to wear them for a couple days to get used to them? Nope, declined. Yesterday, he went to try and get a refund and they said they couldn't because there was no manager there, come back tomorrow. Today he goes again, they wouldn't give him a refund because it's been "too long". It wasn't his fault it took this long! Now I'll have to spend my own time to go with him and get this all sorted out. I would stay far far from this place.

I would have gave 0 stars if I could. This place is horrible and unprofessional. Over the last week i booked over three appointments in attempt to get an eye exam and some new glasses. The first appointment I sat for over an hour before being told that the eye doctor is not seeing anyone else for the day. The second appointment I was told that there is no eye doctor in yet, my last appointment was canceled via text message ten minutes before my appointment. I’m so frustrated at the lack of communication and professionalism. Do better!
