More than having a particular image of what a bride should look like, I had a particular feeling in mind that I wanted to feel when I put on the right gown. I love bridal fashion. I'm a Say Yes to the Dress fanatic. Although I love finding the bargains when I shop, I knew I wanted to treat myself to a high end wedding gown. Luckily, one day a year ago, I saw an ad for the Gigi of Mequon sample sale. I called the store to get the details and a few days later my sister and I were first in line as the doors to the sample sale opened. We were told that we'd be on our own, don't expect to work with a consultant and expect chaos. Neither were our experience. There were plenty of other people but not so many it detracted from our browsing. When it was time to try on, I headed into a room with my sister to help me, but instead Lori followed me into the room and gave me the full Gigi experience. She was great. I wasn't the typical bride - we were planning a surprise wedding that even my mom didn't know about. No bridesmaids, no hooplah. I was worried that a consultant would force me to talk about our colors, the flowers, all the details that were not the focus of our wedding for me. Instead, she followed my lead and it was about the gowns. What looked truly special. We all agreed on a Monique Lhuillier sample. This gown was in pristine condition. Lori told me it had been tried on maybe once or twice ever. Did I spend more than I expected to at a sample sale? Sure. But, I spent less than half the retail price. In the months that followed, I returned to Gigi's two or three times for fittings. We were always greeted warmly, treated well, and left feeling better than when we arrived. The alterations team was excellent as well. By the time I slipped into my gown on the wedding day, I already knew that everything would be perfect. And it was. I am very glad my dress shopping experience started and stopped with Gigi of Mequon.

I had a terrible experience with Gigi's. The sales lady was very rude and made me very uncomfortable. I ended up buying a dress from there just because I loved it. Well the dress tore while my bridesmaids were putting me in it and it had to be safety pinned together so I could walk down the aisle. Luckily I had a veil that could cover it for the ceremony. We took pictures immediately following the ceremony and the safety pins didn't hold so I had to cut pictures short to fix it. My friend had to sew me back in it. I assume the dress broke because the alterations Gigi's had done to the dress were not quality. When I called and complained they didn't seem to care, but finally gave me $50 to get me to leave them alone. That's it! They also said (after I asked) if they could fix the dress after and they reluctantly agreed. Unbelievable! I do not recommend them to anyone!

Very cute boutique that is definitely higher end with a small selection of designer dresses. So if that's in your budget definitely go. I came as part of a bridal party to look at bridesmaid dresses which was upstairs. Our consultant was very attentive so a+ for customer service. I left out one star because I felt that they had a Small but beautiful selection of bridesmaid dresses.

GIGI of Mequon went above and beyond to make my wedding dress perfect! There were a lot of changes to my dress including making it shorter by about a foot and changing the zip up back to a corset, and their seamstress did an AMAZING job. On top of the great work with my dress, the shop itself is beautiful and the salon style way of showing dresses really gives you a feeling a being catered to. Wonderful atmosphere and great staff!

I visited Gigi in November to find my wedding dress. When we first arrived, there was a drilling sound somewhere in the salon and no one there to greet us, even though a bell sounded every time my mom and I walked in the door. We walked in repeatedly and searched the store for someone to help us for twenty minutes before we finally found the door to the break room and knocked on it. Our consultant appeared to have forgotten about our appointment. I was not impressed by the service my consultant gave us. She was visibly disappointed in my $4,000 budget and only brought out 2 dresses I could try on that met my tastes (I said I did not like lace but she tried to push it on me). I pulled a good number of sample sale dresses for myself, though. Every time I tried on a dress and said that I liked it, she said, "You should just buy it." Didn't tell me I looked nice, didn't ask me questions - just told me to buy it. I was completely put off. I loved a Jenny Packham sample dress I tried on and would have bought it had the service been better. I went to another salon with fantastic service (in another city) and bought a different dress. Overall, I was happy with the selection of sample gowns, but that's really it for the positives. The service was extremely disappointing.

I had a good experience overall at Gigi's. My consultant was great: attentive, not at all pushy, and attuned to what I wanted, pulling dresses that fit my needs. The dress selection was good for the style I like. There were some sale dresses upstairs that I could peruse, but most of the selection was only visible to my consultant. They also have dresses for bridesmaids and mothers, though those were less our style: they were exactly what you would see in a bridal magazine, and therefore not quite modern enough for what we wanted. Trying on the dresses was comfortable, and the fitting room area has lots of great light. We didn't get to take any photos, but that's likely our fault for not asking! And they had some original dresses that I hadn't seen anywhere else, which were beautiful! The reasons why I give Gigi's 4 and not 5 stars, in case this matters to you: It is an upscale salon, so coming in sweats may make you feel uncomfortable; it was a bit formal. Prices were higher than I would have liked, though some of that may be because of the original gowns. Overall, our visit was great, and I would recommend checking out gowns here, so long as your budget is at least a little healthy.

I spent months looking for dresses at stores that were recommended by my friends. As any girl when it comes to her big day, I had a picture in my head of what I wanted and no dress came close to that image. I am an event planner for a living and am extremely meticulous of details; far from a "cookie cutter" type bride (especially when it came to a dress) I needed something that was traditional yet made enough of a statement to not be forgotten. After many Saturdays of my mom and sister watching me stand on a dressing room pedestal in disappointment, my mom suggested we visit Gigis. I showed Lori various pictures of my ideas and she came back with three different options that she "just pulled". I could feel my eyes light up, I knew my dress right when I saw it; tried it on--perfect fit. I walked around the store with such a gleam that even the owner made a comment-- although she knew little about me, she knew that this was a dress that was made for me. A cliche line, but she was spot on. As I finished getting measured I asked Lori what brand the dress was so I could show all of my family and friends. She apologized and said it was Gigi's private label and it was not available online; the fact that it was a private label made the dress even more special. No other bride would walk down the aisle with the same look as I do--unless they shopped at Gigis--and fell in love with the same dress--which is completely possible because it is stunning and one of a kind.

My mom and I returned to Gigi a few weeks ago, this time looking for a mother of the bride dress for her. Our experience was more than we could've hoped for. The young woman who helped us was friendly and encouraging without being pushy or bossy and found several dresses that we both loved. My mom narrowed it down to three dresses, returned with my stepdad for a second opinion and has ordered one of these three for the wedding. She is very excited and I am thrilled that we had such a successful trip and that she will feel so lovely and confident on my wedding day. Bravo to Gigi of Mequon for lovely merchandise and excellent service!

I purchased my wedding dress from Gigi's after seeing it at the Macy's Bridal Salon in Chicago. I was impressed with the price as it was cheaper than in Chicago. I also purchased my veil and my bridesmaid dresses from the store. The experience at Gigi's was great until I began the alterations process. Before I go on, let me say that Lana was incredible to work with!!! She was so patient and never pushy. I would highly recommend seeing her for any of your dress apparel needs. Besides Lana, I can't say much else that's positive about Gigi's. Everything went downhill during the alterations process. To say that the experience was horrible is an understatement. NOTHING went smoothly during the alterations process and it took 6 visits to the store. During my third visit, I was told that it would be my last before the final pressing but to my surprise the dress was suddenly 3 inches smaller and would not even zip!!! I was asked if I gained weight... how can I gain that much weight in a week??? The owner kept assuring me that everything would be okay but how can the seamstresses/tailors take in a dress more when it fit perfectly during the previous visit. It was an extremely stressful and unpleasant experience to have my dress altered here. I ended up bringing the dress to a shop in Illinois (where my mom got her MOB dress from) to have it re-pressed before my wedding. The Illinois dress shop owners were shocked by the terrible work that was done to my dress. Bottom line.. good dress selection IF you have Lana, but DO NOT have your alterations done here!!!!

The service at Gigi's was abhorrent. Not only did the staff lack competence, they were unfriendly and unhelpful. What a miserable shopping event. If you want to live the experience defining why the wedding industry is deplorable, shop at this store.

When I started wedding dress shopping, Gigi's was first on our list. Initially, I was tentative with Gigi's since their website shows some amazing gowns that aren't cheap. With one appointment, they blew all of my expectations away. We started here on a Friday morning just as a first look into wedding gowns. The sales employee listened to my desires in a wedding gown. Ten minutes later, she pulled a few dresses in varying styles. The first dress I tried on became my wedding dress; an ivory double layered bias organza confection. She captured exactly what I was looking for in the dream dress. The dress is flowly, feminine, couture without all of the trappings of lace and beading. That dress was me! My wedding dress also is a Gigi's private label, thus it's pretty special and hard to find elsewhere. Despite being pretty sure about that dress, she had my try on other dresses with different fabrics and shapes, so I could see the difference. While trying on other dresses, the owner's puppies ran around the store gleaning attention from customers wherever they could. Those puppies made the shopping experience fun and not stuffy at all. In the end, it took us one shopping trip to find my dream dress. Gigi's employees were sweet and doting as they get to watch brides try on dresses everyday. I enjoyed that first and only wedding dress shopping experience.

Gigi of Mequon provided me with an extraordinary and unparalleled experience. Their attention to detail, steadfast commitment, and professionalism alleviated all of my anxieties throughout my wedding preparations. I purchased both my rehearsal dinner dress and wedding gown from Gigi of Mequon. I immensely enjoyed trying on the dresses at the store and really appreciated the advice from the salespeople. The alterations were flawless and I felt radiant during the entire weekend. I left my headpiece at the store when I picked up my dress and did not realize it until the night before the wedding. Gigi of Mequon arranged for this essential part of my wedding look to be dropped off at my hotel room downtown with plenty of time to spare. Everyone I met was friendly and caring and went to extra lengths to ensure that everything was perfect. It is evident why this boutique is considered the finest in the Milwaukee area. They set the standard for excellency.

I give 3 stars..only cause they have the best selection and best designers in all of Milwaukee and their prices are great. however, the service is stuck up and down right snotty and I waited an extra month for my dress just cause they were to lazy and unorganized to call me when the dress came in.
