Allen Edmonds shoe quality has nose dived. Once reputable, they are now cashing in on their "reputation" by slashing quality to increase margins. This likely has to do with them being purchased under new ownership about 6 years ago.

I have purchased several pairs of shoes and boots from Julie at AE Mequon. She is absolutely fabulous. The product sells itself, she is there to answer questions and offer suggestions based on the information you give her. I picked up another pair of boots today and I am impressed! Thank you Julie!

Don't waste your money. This is the second shoes I get. And it last less then a year, when u call customer service they said that product is good for just a year or a little over a year. B******* to pay almost $300 I should have a better quality. My buddy had the same issue. Even I don't wear that shoes everyday. I wear them like 3 times a week. FYI I don't work for construction

I purchased a pair of Higgins Mill Boot with Chromexcel Leather today. Julie has helped me for years at this location. She is as knowledgeable a sales representative can be. She doesn't sell camping equipment. She doesn't sell basketball shoes or flannel shirts. She doesn't even sell Allen Edmonds, Allen Edmonds sell themselves. Julie answers questions honestly, consistently with a friendly smile in a no-pressure environment. I have watched DOZENS of youtube videos in the past few weeks, they are ok for entertainment purposes but many of the well-intentioned reviewers are just spouting off what they think they know. One fellow claims a boot company uses Chromexcel leather on ONE style of boot. Now, why would they do that? The answer is: They don't. When you're ready to purchase a premium quality product from a company with a well-known history of making a durable and attractive dress and dress casual shoes and boots. Try Allen Edmonds, not everyone is going to like them, but it won't be due to the quality of materials or manufacturing. I read a review wherein the reviewer claims his boots shipped to him with defects, but then he kept them for yard work. "I'll take "things that never happened for $600 Alex." If you have an issue with any company, give them a chance to resolve it to your satisfaction. If they fail you, then hop on the keyboard and detail the issue. Thanks Julie.

I love the shoes, but generally check out the Port Washington Shoe Bank first, to see if they've got a factory second for less. I can never see the flaws anyway . . .
