“I met both Peter Kurth and Kevin Konkul at Speigleburg Implement. I liked the personal approach First State Bank implements with their clients. I had been working with larger banks and Green Stone Farm Credit, and the USDA ag lenders. The large national banks are two far removed from a personal relationship with a business or its strengths and growth potential. Green Stone Farm Credit was very dismissive of my business as an Agricultural enterprise because I was young, independent, and had no large realestate holdings to give them as collateral. I felt the lender was also rude. The USDA and FSA program loan officers were rude, condescending, and told me either you are or have to be a big time operator or you will be a nobody your entire life in business and Agricultural Enterprise. This is one reason why we see the working family farmer being erased from the rural demographic and economy! To be replaced with undocumented labor and their wealthy owners!I began working with Mary Griffin as an Mortage Lender with First State Bank.Mary got the Job Done and Believed in me. She went above and beyond and kept the relationship personal and straightforward. She was always approachable. Mary also worked nights, weekends and vacation days to get the job done. She gave sound directions and made sense. I will continue to work with Mary Griffin and First State Bank Through out the Life of My Businesses and career! I would recommend a smaller bank over a beuracratic and bloated system any day of the week if you want your small business to thrive and grow.”
“Manawa, WI. I'm getting accustomed to my California banking experience with no tellers, just machines. It is such a pleasure to come here and speak to real people who are friendly and helpful. Many kudos to Rene who takes the time to assist you with accounts or simply walk you through banking questions. My last visit she went above the call of duty to recommend a person to check up on my mother periodically. I recommend this business without reservation.”
