This was my first and LAST time going to this theater. The day the tickets went on sale for a show, I specifically picked out front row balcony seats. Come the day of the show when we go to get our tickets scanned we were told to go to the box office window to get our seats reassigned because the balcony is closed due to lower attendance, so we ended up stuck in the middle of the seating close to the back row of the main level. We were very upset about this, as were others sitting near us who also purchased front row balcony. The least they could have done was emailed people to let them know of the situation but that was not even done.

Had the joy of seeing Steely Dane! Great seats, bar service and staff! This is a great venue for live music!

We saw Kathleen Madigan's comedy special, Sept. 22nd! Our first time here. We loved the show, the theater is beautiful! The seats were comfy and easy to see the show.The negative...know your audience in regards to the music before the show...the average age was 40-60yrs. The music was more for 20 - 30 yrs extremly loud & too much ba boom boom boom. The base was too high which made it difficult to hear some of the jokes, which we were very disappointed.I don't think I'll be seeing another show here.

It’s a beautiful venue, but the seats are tiny. I’ve had comfier flights with Frontier. My legs were crammed up against the seat in front and it was exceptionally difficult to squeeze past anyone else in my row. I fear that the pants I wore during the show are irreversibly stretched from my knees being bent so far. I cannot in good faith recommend this theatre to anyone taller than 5’8”.I saw Hasan Minhaj here. I also can’t recommend him - he had some decent bits, but nothing fantastic. I fell asleep during the show.

The show was great. The Temptations and the Four Tops still have it! The Orpheum Theater was also a great experience.

Madison has lots of great music venues but The Orpheum is still a classic fav. Saw a great show with Brian Setzer. Nice that you can bring drinks into the venue. Bar service was good. Ladies bathrooms are small and lines can be long! Definitely a good venue for the right show.

Steep stairs without hand rails, no elevator, and long lines. But the theatre itself is beautiful.

Boz Scaggs Summer 2023 Tour in support of his latest album… It's appropriate that his new album is 'Out of the Blues', since the blues is what first sparked his five-decade musical career. Beautiful summer night here in Madison, enjoying our third Boz concert (4 for Jan!) at the Orpheum Theatre on State Street.

Somehow I had never been to a concert here despite four years in college in Madison. We relocated here right before Covid and that kept us out of this place. So it was a bit of a revelation to finally enter a building I have walked by hundreds of times over the decades.I was surprised at the ornate detail that has survived. Sure there is peeling paint and obvious spots where plaster is failing but the place is beautiful. Despite having seats in the upper reaches of the upper balcony the sight lines to the stage were quite good. It felt somewhat intimate for its size. The acoustics were decent but not great.The staff was friendly and helpful. The AC on this hot night was almost too cool but really I am not complaining. I would definitely attend a show here again.With some renovations of the tired parts this place would be five stars.
