I have been happily staying with them for a few years during my annual trip to Madison. I was set to stay 9/11 but my Father died this past Thursday and the funeral is 9/11. I asked for a refund. They said no. On top of that there wasn’t even a “story for your loss”. I’m stunned by the heartless customer service. I hope many people read this and pass them by. While convenient for me, I will never stay there again!

Kind people, perfect location, dog friendly, and the pastries are amazing.
The cancellation policy is ridiculous though. I’ll definitely be keeping that policy in mind the next time I choose where to stay in Madison. ?

The Marquette Hotel is amazing! The check in process, lovely atmosphere and reasonable rates are extraordinary. The cafe and staff are fabulous as well. Our go to place to stay in Madison!

Love staying at this boutique hotel when ever we come to town for music. The eclectic rooms are always a treat. Great water pressure too

This picture was of a lamp designed to represent Fusion. Our Sun! I think the designer wished that Fusion Energy would power the light in the future. Humanity's Purpose! Ask to use the bathroom!

Do yourself a favor, go on their website and realize there's no listed phone number; try and call the one Google provides and see that it directs you to a mailbox that is full; try and email and see if you get a response. It's not worth the $50 you might save to show up to your apartment and find out the electronic lock doesn't work and there's no one on site to help you.

It is an odd place because you order food on a tablet, then pay with a credit/debit card, sit down and wait for your order.
Rooms: Very nice & quiet
Food and drinks: Good food in the restaurant

BEWARE... don't book this hotel unless you have 100% certainty that your plans won't change. My husband and I booked this hotel months ago for a staycation to celebrate our anniversary. We ended with a family emergency and I tried to move the dates (more than a week before the reservation) to another weekend. Unlike literally any other hotel in the world, they don't allow you to change your reservation if it's after 48 hours of BOOKING. They couldn't even bother to respond like a human; instead, they sent a copied & pasted blurb about their cancelation policy. If that wasn't bad enough, they basically said I should have bought travel insurance if I didn't want to be out the money we already spent. This is the kind of terrible customer service you might expect at a giant, corporate hotel in a huge city, not a small, boutique-type hotel in a small city. They would have gotten our money anyway because we wanted to rebook and we probably would have come back. That's how you treat customers.

"For the independent traveler" is code for absolutely no customer service. I emailed twice about my reservation before I arrived and never got an email back. This should have let me know what kind of place this was.
Sure, the hotel room is clean and it has some great IKEA furniture, but the walls are thin and the drunk college students will keep you up all night walking up and down the stairs. There are apparently quiet hours, but who is going to enforce them, especially when they can't be bothered to respond to emails? I would have knocked to ask my neighbors' to be quiet, but as a woman traveling alone, it didn't feel safe.
This whole place seems like a tech bro had an idea about how to make AirBnB worse. It's obvious they don't have employees so they can make money, and your sleep suffers.
Basically, I'd recommend this place to someone I didn't care for. They'll think it is nice and then they'll be unable to sleep for their whole stay.
There's a reason you can't cancel after 48 hours after booking ---(which seems like an absolutely absurd policy in the post-COVID world)---it is so when you email with questions closer to your reservation arrival and no one responds, you'll be stuck with the bill and forced to stay unless you want to be out of money (at least that's how I felt).

I don't know if I should all ready be reviewing it, but after driving here through a sudden blizzard from Chicago, it seems like paradise! Almost everything that I personally came to Madison to check out is within walking distance--and, the Willy Street Co-op sells bus passes, so despite the weather, I'll be at The Chazen Museum tomorrow! ( Parking was super easy--but if you think I'm moving, you're out of your mind! I mentioned the blizzard, right!?)
