Spring Harbor Animal Hospital is by far the greatest clinic I used over the years. And for many reasons, not to mention the outstanding staff. My comments will be brief but I had to say something regarding the people that always provided services that exceeded my expectations. However, during my recent loss, I found that I was not alone in my grief. While their professional capabilities were evident, there was much more. In their eyes holding back their tears I witnessed their hearts and souls which spoke volumes regarding their feelings which aligned with mine and for that I am eternally grateful.

This vet is amazing. We've taken all of our cats here, and a few of them are difficult and they're always treated with respect and care. I'll always recommend SHAM to anyone who asks.

As Wiggles has gotten old my old heart needs her to be well taken care of. Spring Harbor provides more than I can guess about meeting Wigs care. My Wig has been behaving like a much younger dog without her teeth hurting her. I'm happy to see her Happy. Wisconsin is a new state for us. We are glad we found Spring Harbor.

I'm writing this with care. I want to share our experiences so that the vet's care quality can be improved and other pawrents can be informed. We went to see Dr. Alexis Payette for our cats respiratory problem and a wellness examination. The entire experience felt unprofessional, if not medical negligence. We left feeling unassured, blaming ourselves for not advocating for our cat and ourselves.Dr. Payette failed to perform the most fundamental duty as a vet, to ASSESS the pet patient. While in the exam room, Dr. Payette only stood distantly from the cat and performed no physical exam on her own except for the fact she petted the cat while he walked outside the cage. Her entire "assessment" was based off our commentaries and nurse's handoff. She made no diagnosis, did not inform us what could potentially cause the problem, nor provided any tangible advise on how to prevent it from happening again. We basically presented our own diagnosis and solution and received no professional clinical judgment. When we mentioned our cat has scratch mark on his ear and has more dots in his ear, she said yes the nurse mentioned it, but did not initiate to check his ear. She didn't seem comfortable holding the cat and we had to hold the cat for her to peer into the cats ear. And she never really had a good look. Knowing it is a respiratory issue, she didn't use stethoscope to listen to cats lung even once, at least not in the exam room that we are aware of.Dr. Payette took our cat to the back for antibiotics and vaccine shots. After returned, we asked again if she has checked the cats ear, she said "I forgot, it seemed fine to me", and never mention to check again. How do you know it's ok when you didn't even take a good look!? She only suggested us to use q tip to wipe the ear.Dr. Payette did not debrief us what happened back there except for shots and snacks were given. I didn't believe any wellness examination were performed even though thats what we scheduled for. If any, we didnt recive any results. Dr. Payette didnt prepare us with what to expect with receiving the multiple shots in the next few days, whats normal and abnormal. We didn't mean to attack Dr. Payette as she seem new to practice. However, inexperience should not be an excuse to forgo the most basic responsibility as clinician, to assess. If you don't even look or touch the pet, how can you make any valid diagnosis and prescibe any accurate treatment? Please improve your practice and treat other pets with care.

We brought our 12 week old puppy to Spring Harbor after a less than stellar experience at another local vet. They were able to fit us in quickly to ensure our puppy was able to stay current with his vaccinations, have been very responsive to both email and phone calls, and don’t make me feel like my new puppy mom questions annoy them. Maverick enjoyed his visit with Dr. Payette even though he had to get shots!
