I walked out of this salon feeling like a magazine model!! I came in with a slight idea of what I wanted for cut/color/style and they made it come alive and exceeded my expectations - paying close attention to the smallest details. Im excited to go back and I highly recommend for all and any hair types/ethnicities. They have years on years of experience to ease anyone's mind.

I bought a Groupon for a spa manicure and spa pedicure just to give this salon a try. (Cue the owner rolling her eyes at Groupon now.) That is not what I received. Instead, for the pedicure I got a rather long lukewarm foot bath, a terrifying industrial pneumatic air tool callous removal, and a basic sugar scrub. It cost me an extra 10 bucks for gel polish. The manicure was a quick nail filing followed by a rushed gel polish application. No soaking, no cuticle care even with hang nails in plain sight, and the polish didn't cover my entire nails. (Granted my photo is 12 days old, but still...) I should have just bought their basic Groupon mani pedi since that's what got. The space is set up oddly, very open, and for me, uncomfortable and cold. The tech complained to the salon owner that the client before me was late and put her behind for my appointment. They were having a holiday deal for clients that evening which seemed to take priority and since I was a Groupon user, I really didn't matter to them. The tech rushed out the back door behind me to smoke a ciggy, which explained a lot. It is a shame that instead of treating me like a potential loyal customer, I got lousy service by a rushed tech dying for a cigarette. I cannot recommend this salon Groupon or not.

It is possible to get a decent gel manicure at this place - I know this because a woman sitting next to me was with an experienced nail technician and seemed to be getting a gel manicure that was perfectly fine. I was not with an experienced nail technician or even a nail technician period. Has she done nails? Yes. According to her, more recently than she ever has before because the owner is asking her to help with all the groupon appointments they are getting. Are nails what she actually does? No. Her specialty is hair, at her main job she does hair, and all appointments she books personally are for hair. The owner is having someone who does not actually DO nails take groupon nail appointments which are supposed to be exclusively for first-time customers. Why do that if the goal is to presumably attract repeat customers?? It took 2 hours for me to get a gel manicure and pedicure. My "nail technician" did not effectively push back or trim my cuticles. Her filing was very poor which is really Nail 101. She was also using those flimsy emory boards which I'm sure don't help someone who is inexperienced. I didn't really purchase the groupon specifically for the pedicure but it was ok/mediocre - that was honestly alright with me! And I was expecting similar quality for my gel manicure as well. What actually happened was way worse. She took off my old gel manicure with an electric nail drill that had a buffering attachment. If you do not know how to use these, you will grind down someone's nail. Well, guess what happened........ My nails ended up being so thin, and she was even catching her own fingers in the process. She did not get all my old gel polish off and that ended up bleeding into my new polish. The color I chose was an Arctic Blue. Application was terrible. All over my cuticles and on the surrounding skin. Couldn't get the layers to set right to be opaque. She tried using a white base and layered it on extra thick n my right index finger which just made it look white and more noticeable (see pictures). Filing was SO uneven and not the oval shape I wanted at all. So many edges that were sharp that the gel polish just exacerbated. A mani-pedi is supposed to be relaxing but honestly the whole two hours were mental torture. I wanted to call it quits so many times but I knew there was nothing left to salvage after she grinded down my nail. They were so thin that if she didn't cure gel layers onto them I knew they would break so I let her continue. I could tell it was getting more nerve-wracking for her as she kept messing up. By the end of it, she was 30 minutes late for her next customer (for hair), and I was left with a horrible manicure and emotionally drained. I came in with beautiful nails that just had grown-out, but not old-looking, gel polish. My "technician" even commented on how nice they still looked. Afterwards, I actually also ended up feeling bad for her. She knew the manicure was awful. I knew it was awful. She was kind enough to spare me by not asking for a tip. I really don't blame her entirely. Rockabetty's definitely doesn't do a good enough job vetting the work their employees are able to do. She wasn't messing up and then just neglecting to fix it. She didn't know how to do them at all. Space-wise the place is ok. I didn't get a relaxing vibe from it. It tries to be kitschy retro but the decor and layout isn't there. No designated waiting area - I had to ask someone if I was able to sit in a free chair by the shampooing area while waiting for my appointment. I hate leaving bad reviews. It's just that going to the salon is supposed to be a treat-myself occasion and this experience just left such a bad taste in my mouth.

This business has been nothing but rude and nasty to me. They have consistently provided poor service. In 2016 they burned my hair with poor bleaching techniques and I had to pay $200 at another salon to get it fixed. But this review is about a recent situation. Recently I got a Groupon to get my nails done, and completely due to my oversight of a small area on the Groupon website where I missed the fine print of the Groupon, i was not able to use the $40 Groupon I had purchased. I didn't know this until I booked my appointment a month after I bought the Groupon, when I received a very angry call from one of the employees saying I booked with appointment with the Groupon and I wasn't allowed to use it because I was a customer once, 2 years ago. I kindly called Groupon to ask for their help and see if they would gift me a coupon exchange or my money back. They told me it was up to the merchant. So I decided to politely ask this salon if I would be able to use the money I paid to Groupon towards another service. I was willing to pay the difference in prices, given that I could use a portion of the money I had already paid their business through Groupon. I paid $40 for the Groupon and wanted to get a manicure, and would be happy to pay the extra $20 to make up the difference. What I got in return was a painfully condescending, accusatory response from the business, saying I purposely overlooked the fine print and was trying to get a service from them by cheating the system. I am thoroughly saddened and appalled by their unprofessionalism and immature emotional behavior. This is one of the messages she sent to me after I asked about why I couldn't use the money I paid them: "You didn't buy it from Rockabetty's you bought it from Groupon. This heavily discounted deal comes with restrictions that people choose not to read or make up their own rules for. It's half off for you and we don't get that amount you pay, we get a tiny amount from Groupon. This is enough to barely cover costs. It's enough to offer ONCE.... people still try and work the system buying 2 or more Groupons then asking us to honor it anyway. That they had no idea. Why not return in our special? That we don't lose our shirts on? Our policy on this is everywhere. Front desk sign, your email appointment confirmation, on the scheduling app, right on the Groupon site, and more places yet people still say they had no idea they couldn't buy one than one? Do you go to the grocery store with a peanut butter coupon and demand they let you use it for jelly? I buy Groupons too, but I always read the rules first to make sure I'm eligible." This is completely unprofessional to speak to a customer this way. They may get requests for money back often, but that doesn't mean they should take out their frustration on every customer who asks. I did not ask for something for free, only to use the money I had already paid for. Their denial to provide me the services I paid for is considered fraud and highly unacceptable. I highly discourage people from seeking service at this establishment.
