Our dog Chevy, graduated recently from training at Madison, WI Sit Means Sit location! He had two one on one sessions with Josh and one with Brenna. My husband and I really liked the approach to training where they train the dog and the owners. Josh and Brenna were knowledgeable, respectful, kind, and willing to answer our millions of questions! We found the training to be very beneficial. Our dog Chevy was reactive to just about everything, but especially on walks and when people came into our home. Since training (and our continued follow through with coached strategies), we have noticed great changes in Chevy. More consistency with his “place” command really reinforced at this training has been helpful in allowing us to welcome people into our home with Chevy feeling confident in that situation. We have been able to walk on the same side of the sidewalk as both people and dogs with his good response to the learned heel response with attention on us. We are so thankful for the changes we have seen in our dog, Chevy since completing the training.
We were initially nervous about the e collar, but our minds were quickly eased by the knowledgeable trainers and after seeing first hand that the collar was a positive reinforcer only. Chevy likes putting the collar on! He responds well and quickly to it. It’s been a game changer.
We would recommend Madison sit means sit to dog owners looking for dog training in the area! As with all dog training it is not a “fix it” / “fix everything” solution, follow through and continuing to work on what you learned is key.

They do wonderful work! My dog learned so much after day 1 and the training I received in person and in video helped me bring the training back home.

I went and had a free assessment for anxiety and reactivity issues in my older rescue dog. It was nice that they offered a free assessment, but won't quote you anything or give you an idea of price beforehand (not even saying how much a single session costs) which was a red flag. They then said I needed to buy a shock collar (which is the last thing my rescue dog with anxiety needs) and pay hundreds of dollars a session. There are much cheaper and better dog trainers and behaviorists in Madison.

Josh is an AMAZING trainer. Helped us correct issues with our shorkie and making him more comfortable around other dogs and in public.
If you want dog trainers that only want your dogs beta interest at heart. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO.
Highly recommend, worth every penny and then some.

Before starting at Sit Means Sit, my dog Murphy, was basically afraid of his own shadow. We have had 4 private sessions so far with Josh and Brenna and it's like I have a completely different dog. They are both amazing trainers (for dogs and people) and I would absolutely recommend them for anyone who needs a little help with their dog. I promise , it is well worth it.

We couldn’t be more pleased with our recent experience at Sit Means Sit (SMS). If you’re a dog owner looking for behavioral change and are committed to be an active participant in that change, there is no finer place to go to than SMS.
Given SMS’s goal specific individual plan, including guidance on the importance of our own commitment, all of our objectives mutually defined at the start of our program were met. While Brenna was our “go to” trainer, the entire staff were true professionals and should be applauded for their expertise, demeanor and focus to aligning your dog’s actions with your desired new behavior.

Brenna did an amazing job working with Millie and an even better job working with us. We appreciate her firm but compassionate approach to training. She was patient with our questions and made sure that we fully understood all of the techniques she was using so that we would be successful well into the future.

Had a fantastic experience with the training at Sit Means Sit. Trainer Josh was wonderful to work with: professional, knowledgeable, built a rapport with our dog right away, and showed us how to use the methods at home. Excited to continue training with group classes. Highly recommend!

Sit Means Sit has been incredible! Our first experience was with Mike during the training evaluation, where he showcased one of his dogs in a fantastic demo. He recommended the Day and Train program for focused training with my overly excited dog, who needed assistance with listening, commands, and various other issues.
**Session One:** The drop-off went smoothly! Brenna ensured I had all my questions answered and provided a helpful take-home package with additional information, including the ecollar and instructions. She also informed us we would have Josh as our trainer.
When I returned to pick up Goose after his first day, I had a full hour with Josh to discuss what they worked on, allowing me to practice what Goose had learned. This follow-up session is invaluable for reinforcing training and clarifying any questions.
After each session, I received a report featuring a video of the day’s work, homework assignments, and activities to focus on for the week. The homework was engaging, detailed, and essential—definitely don’t skip it!
**Key takeaways from day one:**
1. Notable improvement in getting Goose’s attention.
2. Activation of loose leash walking skills.
3. Focus areas included: Sit, Place, recall, loose leash walking, jumping, and working around distractions.
**Session two takeaways:**
1. Continued reinforcement of commands, especially with distractions.
2. Further development of loose leash skills.
3. Improvements in recall.
Josh taught me how to properly fit the collar, which significantly helped in getting Goose’s attention.
**Session three takeaways:**
1. Addressing dog reactivity.
2. Navigating distractions.
3. I had the opportunity to work with Mike and Josh’s dogs, which was incredibly beneficial for receiving real-time advice.
A big shout-out to Josh! Your patience and kindness truly stand out. I enjoyed every session. Not only did you train Goose, but you also gave me a significant confidence boost in managing him in different situations.
I highly recommend Sit Means Sit whenever I can!

From the initial consultation to private lessons, everyone at Sit Means Sit was extremely helpful and made sure to answer all of my questions. Hank came with a lot of puppy energy and with the help of his trainer, Brenna, he can now follow basic commands. We have both learned so much and will continue to use this knowledge in the future. We are excited to continue his training in group classes!

My little Yorkie who is 6 months old, stubborn and I felt was untrainable was enrolled in Sit Means Sit. She worked with Josh and Brenna. Her last sessions were with Brenna who was more than patient with my little stinker. She was able to get her to do things almost immediately which really amazed me. I found out from Brenna that I also needed training. It is a whole process that I never would have understood without her. Since she completed the beginning of her journey Brenna has continued to get in touch with me which is really impressive. I highly recommend Brenna and Sit Means Sit. You won’t be sorry

We took our dog Milo to Sit Means Sit and we worked with Josh. Our dog is scared of everything and reacts by lashing out. Josh did an excellent job of helping both us and Milo to work on our confidence! He gave us tools to use and was always patient with all my questions. We did the 3 full day training sessions. We just completed the day training and are moving to group classes. I have high hopes we will continue to help Milo live his best dog life! Thanks Sit Means Sit and Josh!

Great experience! Very patient staff that allowed all my questions. Felt like it was a safe space to drop off my furbaby. Exceptionally clean and organized environment. This method works to get my extremely focused dog to learn to come and obey when asked. I would suggest that the package of 3 visits be more such as 4-5 visits in same price point as the one on one was helpful but could have used just a little more from staff.
