I rented from S&R properties and the house was not in good condition. While affordable, the house was very old, had uneven floors and ceilings, the doors always stuck to the frames due to re-painting it too many times, the windowsills were full of old leaves when I moved in, 2 of the windows did not stay open, the kitchen sink overflowed, and rarely did they pick up the phone when trying to contact them. When moving out, I spent multiple hours cleaning the apartment trying to bring it back to the way that it was when I moved in. However, they charged us over $400 from our security deposit for 10 hours of cleaning. I believe that it is wrongful of them to penalize us for not meeting a cleaning standard that even they did not meet when we moved in.Edit: upon receiving the comment from the owner, I have checked the emails I received from when I rented this apartment, and I did in fact rent from S&R Remodeling at 1525 S. Stoughton Rd. in Madison, WI.

I would never contract them. They've done work for several of my neighbors... always loud with music and chatter, always starting before 830am. On our block they've taken up six parking slots for about two months with their trucks, and very inconsiderate to the owners living on the block. Skip em.

S&R did all the work for my business, everything from drywalling and painting to building shelving and putting in flooring. I highly value responsiveness and communication, and the team were always available to answer questions I had or provide me with needed updates. The pricing is reasonable, especially given the high quality of work. Any delays, changes, or issues were proactively communicated and mitigated as much as possible. Couldn't be happier with the service. I highly recommend them.Service: Commercial projects

Pretty terrible experience, unfortunately. For over 12 months we tried to pin down the scheduling for some work on our home. S&R had received our down payment on the job but did not follow through on this commitment at all. An honest disclosure of when the work can be done is really a minimum expectation if you're interacting with customers. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

S&R did an amazing job on my deck and new window. They're busy, so be patient, but once they start, it's a very professional company that does excellent work. Can't thank these patriots enough.Service: Deck construction

S & R Remodeling built an addition (mudroom, primary bedroom, and bathroom) onto our ranch home. From the beginning, S & R was willing to give us a detailed estimate and proposal, prior to drafting plans, which helped us make the decision to move forward with an addition instead of moving. Chris managed our project and was available throughout to answer questions or find solutions to any issues that arose. S & R and all of their subcontractors were knowledgeable, helpful, and did quality work. The project did take longer than we anticipated, but that seems to be the way things are with current supply chain and labor issues. We, also, didn’t push for a specific timeline. Our addition turned out even better than we expected.Services: Home addition construction

This company has provided the upmost remarkable service. My husband and I needed our kitchen re-done and we had a previous contractor commit, who bailed last minute. This team swooped in and gave us a great quote and was honest about how much it would cost and also that it may not be quick due to materials being hard to obtain. That said, they prioritized our project and completed it with no issues. Overall, we are very happy with the work!

I met with owner Scott on June 4 to get an estimate for a kitchen remodel. He was friendly and I enjoyed the meeting. But that's where the good experience ended. It is now Aug 3 and I still don't have an estimate. After multiple calls and emails at the beginning of July trying to get an update, I finally got a call back and was told he was very busy and please can he have another week. Sure. No problem...but It's been weeks since then and not one more contact. This is not how professional conduct business.

Outstanding qaulity. Structural and finish detail were both very impressive.

We had a very poor experience with S&R when we had them do work throughout our house over a year ago (upstairs and downstairs bathroom, kitchen, painting, new deck on our balcony). We were so frustrated, that I wanted to take time to cool off before writing a review, in order to be objective. They started the work 3 months after the time we'd agreed to. It was obvious that we were pushed aside, before and during the work for projects Scott deemed more important. We would get no notice that workers were going to show up, much less the area they'd be working in, causing us to scramble and shift things around each time. One fun experience was that they wanted to disconnect our upstairs toilet, before connecting the downstairs toilet, which would've left us with no bathrooms, and my husband works from home. This went against our specific agreement. When they redid our deck, they failed to drill holes before driving in the screws, cracking the wood on more than half the rails. The person who tiled our bathroom was clearly a beginner, the grout lines are wildly uneven, the tiles are not level, and 2 tiles near the border had fallen out within a month. Scott had so little idea of what was going on in our house that he had things done in the wrong order, and then blamed us. This resulted in damage to a light fixture, and instead of trying to rectify the situation, he rudely asked "what do you want me to do about it." One morning I woke up to hear, "where are we supposed to put up this wall?" It was supposed to be a doorway, and I shudder to think what would've happened if we had not been present. Their painting was so poor it looks like a diy-ers first effort. They had also promised to fill in nail holes, which was not done, and when we asked them to fix it, they patched but didn't paint over the patching.... so now we have that over the paint. We actually really liked a lot of the workers, who were nice guys- it just seemed like they were set up to fail- poor instructions, little training and all the wrong tools. From what we heard from them, Scott was also weeks behind in paying them. We stopped S&R before the work was completed, and instead used Genesis Painting (5 starts) and brought someone else in for the tiling, and we were very glad we did. They charged us twice for some materials, so look over your bill carefully, and have any changes made in writing.

I manage the building for the company I work for, Family Service Madison. It is important to me to have someone I trust to call when we have a building issues or we are having improvements made. Being a non profit, we are very careful with our money. S & R Remodeling has good prices and they are always helpful with ideas. I appreciate the professionalism and the communication. Julie

Scott and crew removed a load bearing wall between my kitchen and living room and added a patio door leading to the backyard. Great communication on timeline and fantastic work. Very well priced for the craftsmanship.
