It appears that the veterans administration is attempting to save money. And that's understandable but at what cost to the veterans deserve. During my most recent visit yesterday I went to the cardiology unit for my regular yearly appointment. And at that time there are several tests yearly that are administered to me to give me insights on the function of my heart. This year neither of the tests were administered. I simply had a conversation with the physician's assistant and that was it. Well that concerned me when I got home I called back to the VA and arranged to have two tests done in the next 60 days the ones that I usually get yearly so that I can compare the results of this year's test to last year's to see what functions with my heart that has changed. The nurses attempted to give me some smell about why and etcetera etcetera but I didn't go for it. My point, don't try to save money on the backs of US veterans!

Overall I’ve had good experiences the few times I’ve had to go. The only draw back for me is this is my home hospital and it’s almost 2 hour drive to get there but it gives me an excuse to take a day off work.

Had to go to the ER again today...each time these people are absolutely wonderful to deal with. Love their professional attitudes and they are very expedient as well. BEST VA around!!!

Mental health worker hung up on me for me swearing. They shouldn’t even be working there if they can’t handle words, especially as mental healthcare “specialists”

The hospital really helps you to navigate its corridors with the directions placed along all the corridors.

The staff in the infusion department are so kind and helpful! I wasn't sure where I needed to go, and one of the receptionists got up and walked with me and showed me the way. Big thumbs up to my nurse, Justin! You rock! Thanks for making my hospital stay feel more like a vacation lol. I was in and out with no problem. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience as a patient there.

My son a 100% disabled Marine veteran of three combat tours in Iraq was in critical condition due to a need for a liver transplant. He has PTSD and related nightmares that lead to alcohol abuse in addition to a inherited condition. On February 8th, the ninth anniversary of his grandfathers death he received a life saving liver transplant. Dr. Foley and his team of transplant doctors, nurses, and staff did a fantastic job of giving my son a second chance at life. I cannot thank the donor family enough. Their decision must have been extremely difficult. Anna the transplant coordinator was beyond helpful. Anna was fantastic as the point person through this process. I thank all who played a role in the healing process for my son. Everyone from the cab driver, shuttle drivers, maintenance personnel, housekeeping, CNA's, LPN's, RN's, resident doctors, specialists, social workers, substance abuse personnel, lab personnel, transplant coordination team, and the fantastic doctors of the transplant department. This applies to both the UW and the Middleton VA health center. Thank you all for your kind words, understanding, kindness, and words of encouragement. We will forever be indebted to you all.

This VA Hospital is laid out like something from the movie Inception. All clinics have names, just not the the name of what it actually is.So arrive early, expect to be lost, and confused as to why PTSD exists, really.... ask the front door person where mental health is located, and watch the look of confusion on their face, especially if it's on the 3rd floor across the sky bridge(and no sign for sky bridge) Best of Luck.PS. Kevin thank you for the help. And this VA is phenomenal, as are most all VA hospitals, the Phoenix AZ, ER doctor found found a piece of something about the size of a grain of sand in my spine striking the main nerve in my arm, so its the doctor not the hospital, some are are great, some not so much, yet any doctor working at the VA Big Kudos!Semper Fi.

How on Earth did this hospital get the "Best VA" in the nation?!?The HUD-VASH program is abysmally poor! The mental health clinicians, that I have encountered, are lackluster! Focused and consistent therapeutic modalities are weeks, if not months away from happening. If at all.The shelters and transitional housing options are unsat, unclean and unsavory. No wonder so many veterans in the "good ole USA" take themselves out every day...Humans certainly are not perfect and yet there is incredible room for improvement. Oh, and the cafeteria? Ha! It's pathetic!! Veterans deserve a lot better!! Especially the wounded somdiers that sacrificed their souls and bodies for a "greater good"!!!

In response to Sam B.... mental health is on the 2nd floor. Use the main elevators (by the pharmacy) and follow the signs to mental health
