I usually avoid asking sales associates for help when shopping, but Nancy and Ashley were so helpful tonight while I tried on jeans. They listened to my likes and dislikes, helped me evaluate fits, and made suggestions based on our conversation. It was a super shopping experience!

I cannot say enough good things about this Madewell location. This past weekend I drove 2.5 hours to shop here for jeans, so I was on a mission. The ladies that were working at the time I was shopping spent legit 45 minutes passing new sizes and styles to my dressing room. I have shopped at other Madewell locations and was not offered this kind of assistance and ultimately left feeling frustrated having not found one pair of jeans that suit me. This mama hasn’t worn jeans since 2019 and I swear I forgot how things are supposed to fit. Well these ladies spent time finding the right sizes, they were genuine, they laughed with me, suggested styles I wouldn’t have considered, and helped me feel like a functioning person again. I walked out with three pairs of new jeans, a positive experience, and all the good vibes. Thanks ladies!! You made a big difference to me!

If I could give them 0 stars I would, the store associate was rude. Would never shop here again, not worth the time and the company should be ashamed of themselves.

If I could give a 0, I would. Called ahead three times to ensure they had what I needed. Headed out in below zero weather and only 1 of 3 items actually were in stock and on hold. Sales staff was unsympathetic, abrupt, and unhelpful. Had intended to purchase more but couldn’t get out of the store fast enough.

I drove 1.5hrs to try to find the perfect jeans. I was super excited to go to Madewell because I thrifted a dress a few years ago that fit me perfectly so I had high hopes. After going to 3 different stores and being told that there weren't any jeans in my size for me to try, I had high expectations when I walked into this store. I was not greeted. The employees stared at me like I was an alien. When I finally got to the jeans, I was hoping that someone would ask if I needed help because I was on the verge of tears at this point. I thought one of the employees had asked if I needed help, but they actually had asked a girl that had come out of the dressing room. I finally asked if there were any jeans for me to try on and again was told no, BUT after going to Nordstrom Rack and trying on a pair, it turns out that I could have tried on a pair in their store.

I usually have a great experience at Madewell and am treated with the same courtesy and respect as any other customer, however, today was the second time the same woman said something to me that was incredibly off-putting.I had ordered something online and was accidentally sent someone else's order. I called customer service to start the return process and was informed that since I used PayPal the refund would be in the form of a gift card and my card would need to be charged again. This would have been fine if I had not just gone shopping at Madewell two days before and didn't plan on buying anything for a while. I decided to do the return in-store since I had seen the item I ordered there and wanted to avoid getting a gift card.When I went to return the item at the store an older woman with short hair asked me quite rudely why I didn't call customer service to process the exchange. Fortunately, another employee was super helpful and was able to do an exchange.About a couple of years ago I had gone shopping at Hilldale and went in to Madewell to see if they had anything I liked. That day they didn't. This same woman rudely suggested that I was "just dreaming" of buying something or window shopping with no intention of purchasing anything. I am a woman of color who often has negative customer service experiences when I go shopping in Madison, so while I wasn't surprised, I was offended. This incident has stuck with me and I think of it every time I shop at Madewell.It is my hope that Madewell does something to address this employee's behavior. I'm sure I'm not the only person to have been treated this way. She may have racial biases that she either is or is not aware of.

Beautiful clothing, but nothing bigger than a size L. Incredibly exclusive and unacceptable. It was disheartening to realize I could not bring any of the dresses home, because they would not fit me.

I love this location, everyone is so incredibly friendly and helpful and the selection is great. I've gone in and tried on everything from shirts to jeans and asked for fit advice and the staff were always so helpful! Madewell is one of the few places I can find quality clothes any more. The fabrics are actually quality, 100% cotton or wool most of the time and they hold up to washing and wear. The colors and fits are flattering too and will stand up to the test of time. Great place to shop for classic pieces as well as the occasional on trend statement piece.

I really like that they do denim recycling program. Bring your useless old jeans here for recycling. You'll get coupons for new ones.

The staff at the store were so helpful, even on a busy day/holiday weekend! One of the workers helped me save money on a purchase, which was greatly appreciated since the quality of the items and prices are higher at this retailer. I'm looking forward to returning to this store in the future

I was hoping to return an item that my daughter received as a gift. Unfortunately, we did not receive a gift receipt with the gift. She did not care for the item so she was hoping to get a gift card to out towards something else. We were told they don’t accept returns without any type of receipt. I did not have the contact info of the person who gifted her this (nor would I want to share that because I wouldn’t not want it on her profile that it was returned). Really unfortunate that we could not even get a gift card. We saw several things we could and would have purchased but we left, turned off by the service.

Madewell as a brand is pretty pricey but if you find a good quality item, it doesn't disappoint. I have some jackets and jeans that are going on 8 years old and have gotten better with time. I'm reviewing the Hilldale location because I think it's a benefit that Madison has a physical location for customers to really feel and see the item and ensure that their clothes will stand the test of time. Every time I've popped into Madewell, the store is clean, the sale section is big, and staff are gracious and friendly. Fitting rooms are closed right now due to COVID, which is something to keep in mind. I did get fit and styling tips for a couple items that I was unsure about, so I love that they offer that in-person touch for a site that I've mainly shopped at online. One of the items I was interested in was out of stock in the store, and the staffperson was able to order from the online site to my house but include the different store deals on my order, which is a service I appreciated. Very happy we have the physical location here!
