I had been a patient with GHC since I was born, and last year’s experience made me switch to a new provider.
First, I want to say I really liked my primary Sarah S. She was great and the only reason I’m giving 2 stars.
If you see anyone other than your primary, even if they are on the same team, expect them to dismiss concerning symptoms and make you wait until you can see your primary (who is most likely booked for months).
Because of an oversight with another doctor in my physical, and then their refusal to see me for a follow up while my primary was on vacation, my treatment for an autoimmune disease was delayed by months.

Our insurance just changed to GHC.
I was feeling sick and wanted to go about scheduling an appointment to see a doctor with GHC 675 West Clinic.
The receptionist named Kathleen was very quick to tell me how I would not be allowed to see them without having insurance with them. After letting her know I had an insurance with them- she said there is nothing I can do without having a primary care physician at this location.
I asked her how to go about doing so- and she mentioned that members services were unavailable. Upon asking her for her supervisors name after the very unhelpful and rude responses given to me- she said they were unavailable as well and wouldn’t give me their names.
Finally she told me she wasn’t “supposed to do this” but can get me an appointment, but it would only be for 20min.
Kathleen overall had really poor attitude and was very uncomfortable and attack full to talk to from the start of me asking the process to be seen.
I said okay and when I arrived I was sent to urgent care (lol).
Service was at least very fast.
Afterwards I was told I could pick up my medication. However it was a medication I’ve had problems with in the past and so I called to be re directed to a nurse who could talk to me and help. The phone that picked up was by the name of Stephanie. I discussed the distress I’ve had in order to get onto the phone with her as GHC has been not very helpful and she decided to have the WORST attitude and start to raise her voice after I asked how can I go about getting my primary switched with GHC. I asked her to please lose any attitude with me as I asked her questions and that patients don’t deserve to be yelled at this way, and she told me she would rather hang up the phone.
After asking for her supervisor she goes “OKAY” and hung up the phone with me.
I have tried very hard to discuss my care with GHC and so far have had a very rough experience.
A few people have been alright and helped along the way, but this type of care needs negative amount of stars at best.
I would recommend staying sick rather than being dragged around by this clinic. Such a waste. I am glad they claim to record phone conversations to help patient care.
I will be bringing this up to a supervisor with GHC as no person who’s trying to get help needs to be talked to this way. Never had any problems with other hospitals in this form or fashion.

I need antibiotics. I can't get them. I've been sick for over 2 months when I got sick on an international flight. At first, I saw a doctor at the urgent care, and she did a great job. Except that she put me on an antibiotic for acne instead of lungs as she was trying to save my stomach. I finally started to get better after 5 days on antibiotics. I was 90% better when my antibiotics ran out. Then I got worse again. I tried to get a different antibiotic through MyChart because obviously the antibiotics were working, but I need stronger ones more geared for my lungs. After spending about $600 for the first appointment plus $200 for insurance each month, I couldn't afford to go back. They wouldn't call in a stronger antibiotic for me although it's obvious that the acne antibiotic was starting to work. So I waited until my yearly physical since I had to pay for that appointment anyway. However, instead of giving me the antibiotics that I need, the doctor (who I've seen twice ever and is a different doctor than the urgent care doctor) wanted to put me on an inhaler for the rest of my life. Ridiculous! I need an inhaler for cats, dogs, wildfires, and when I'm sick. Not every day for the rest of my life. What I need is antibiotics. I'm a biologist and over half a century old. I know my body. I need antibiotics to get rid of the last crud in my lungs and throat and nose. But instead, I have to take Advil and Tylenol every day to get through the day because I'm still sick. My parents both have kidney issues. I don't want to be on Advil and Tylenol every day. I need antibiotics. So more than a thousand dollars later (and I have "good" insurance), I am still sick and very hopeless and hate life every day. This has diminished my quality of life so much that I often times don't even want to get out of bed. I've never been sick for over 2 months before. I've always been able to get the antibiotics I need to get over my bacterial infections because the doctors in Massachusetts actually know what they're doing. What I'm going to do next is try natural antibiotics including garlic, echinacea, ginger, neem, honey, cabbage, myrrh, thyme, oregano, cloves, goldenseal, tumeric, clove, and silver. So sad that it would be easier to get a script for pain meds than it is to get antibiotics when you really need them. Which for me is maybe every two years at most. To add insult to infection, I just got an email that says GHC MyChart has been hacked. Nice. Avoid this place like a respiratory illness.

Do not go to Group Health. Their billing department are cut throat, horrifically mean, and use rigid exploitative policy to talk to you like you're in the principal's office when they're trying to tell you they can change a payment plan and you're telling them you can't do it.

You'll be required to take your care into your hands far more than any patient should.Inconsistent diagnoses, horrible communication, and months delays for extremely serious conditions. Not a good support system here either, and most drs/nurses do not give your a personalized level of care. Some nurses here stand out granted. I only go here because my insurance demands it.

For patients with degenerative disc, bulging disc and herniated disc. PLEASE READ THIS! BECAUSE YOUR DOCTOR WILL NEVER LET YOU KNOW THIS.Spinal decompression makes the spine less susceptible to degeneration and breakdownIt is a non-invasive treatment that does not require any medication and is not very time consumingIt provides fast results and many patients have reported pain relief after their first sessionThis procedure is much faster than spinal surgery of any kind and does not have the recovery time associated with surgery eitherInstead of temporarily treating the pain with pain medication, spinal decompression provides natural pain relief by reducing the amount of pressure on the spine. This means that the back pain is not just temporarily resolved till the pill lasts, it is eradicated by dealing with the source of the issueThe patients undergoing Spinal Decompression Therapy do not have to worry about addictive painkillers or side effectsWhen compared to surgery, it is an extremely safe optionThere is no risk of allergic reactions to anesthesia and infectionsThe possibility of infections is eradicated through this minimally invasive therapy.Everyone with back pain should know aboutDECOMPRESSION THERAPY. Your doctor will never share this with you, they are all about MILKING YOUR INSURANCE and sending you in circles. This decompression therapy is for people with degenerative disc, bulging disc and herniated disc.It works you will be pain free with this treatment!

Pros: My primary care doc is an amazing gem and so is my PT at another clinic. The nurses I’ve gotten to know are great, too.Cons:- The wait time is very long for an appointment in primary care and many other specialities.- GHC will give prior approval for some outside care when specialities aren’t in the GHC network, but they will jerk you around with the bills, denying them or paying them slowly, or paying in several installments, so the outside institution badgers you for money constantly and you’re stuck calling over and over to try to get the situation rectified. If you have any kind of health issue that requires coordination elsewhere, GHC makes it a PITA.- Their medical device/wear options are super limited and in many cases they won’t cover these items elsewhere, so your coverage for medical equipment is often useless.

Myself and my wife and two daughters have had GHC insurance and have primarily been using this facility for almost seven years. In that seven years we have seen many dozens of providers and staff members. Nearly all care and interactions have been wonderful and caring. Yes, folks working at the information desks -- the “front lines” if you will -- can occasionally be cranky, but usually they’re very kind and patient, much more pleasant than I would be if I were in their shoes. Thank you, GHC, for all you’ve done for me and my family.

It is ALWAYS a pain to get things approved. They care more about contracts than approving our 3yo daughters surgery to allow her to walk pain free. Surgeon said do it immediately. GCH, denied it and now she has to wait 2 months. In the meantime her walking is getting worse. Hope she doesn't have even more damage. GHC sucks! If I could switch I would.

I have been a GHC customer for 23 years.I had minimal need for care until 2014.I have waited average of 5.5 months to see any specialist at UW.This is typical with all GHC patients.SSM can schedule within DAYS. Do NOT choose GHC if you want availability of care.

AVOID if you have the option. They denied a day of my hospital visit when I physically couldn't get into my apartment. They have denied genetic testing to confirm a genetic diagnosis that is showing up in my blood tests. Now, when I brought to their attention that UW Health likely violated my civil rights, their response has been, "So what?!" To top it off, every single primary care provider I've been to here is two-faced and definitely not on your side.

I'm ok so far with the various primary care providers I've worked with. But if I have to make use of what is supposed to be their "network" (ie UW Health,) the interractions between GHC and UWH are a minefield of mistakes, long waits, miscommunications, non-communications and billing problems. It seems that their method of interraction (at least from the patient perspective) relies on mychart and it's total bloatware. (You can wander for quite a while trying to figure out where billing details are or what the status of a referral actually is.) And, for some reason, they convey referrals before they are approved (you'd think a system would actually be BUILT to avoid that) resulting in phone calls (to the UW especially where hold time if almost always ten minutes) and back-and-forth interraction via mychart messaging that always takes at least a day. Currently, I'm waiting to hear why they assessed me a significant deductible for an appointment I never had that coincides, timewise, with a mychart message request for them to put their heads together with UWH to give me an options for an antibiotic that seems to be unavailable. Having had an experience where I had to go before their board to get access to denied medicine (I ended up getting a federal review that required them to provide it) I think I am ready to talk to that board again. They need to start getting real.
