I’m a six year resident moving into a house on the near west side and cannot say enough great things about this apartment complex! The staff are so friendly, personable, and down to earth you sometimes forget you’re a paying resident. Service requests are for the most part promptly addressed. The facility itself is top-notch in terms of location, quality, and amenities. From my unit on the 12th floor, there are views of both lakes. The east side units overlook Breese Stevens, or you can catch a view of if from the terrace. Rec room, fitness center, rooftop garden, and a grocery store within the building make it an all-inclusive residence. Pets are allowed, though you should check the website for permitted breeds. You can live comfortably in this complex without having to leave the facility.Anyone looking for a shortened lease (6 months) can enjoy a trial run of this prime downtown property. Ask for apartment 1200 when contacting the leasing office-you won’t be disappointed!

I've lived in the Galaxie apartments for 3 years and my experience has been exceptional. The location is unbeatable, units are big, priced appropriately, the views (I faced lake Mendota all 3 years) are top notch, and the staff (Morgan) was very responsive to my needs. I highly recommend it!

My wife and I had the most amazing two years at this apartment complex!! We lived in apartment 1404, and genuinely LOVED every minute of it. You are so close to the the capital and downtown... but also close to local bars and restaurants, without having to get in your car. LJ's is below the building.. and that place has some of the best bartenders and servers you could ask for, and Festival Foods makes sure you NEVER have to leave your pajamas. All in all, I never would have left this place, if I didn't have a job offer elsewhere. If you are looking for an amazing experience, I would look this way EVERY TIME!!HUGE appreciation to the rental team and property management!! You guys were amazing and made this the best experience ever!!Love this place!!

Decent, but not the best. Like the commenters previously stated, there's many major things wrong with the apartment. But let's start out with the positives:1) The location. If you're on the street NOT facing E Washington Ave (where I admit, there is a ton of noise, and the windows aren't sound dampening), you will probably not hear the loud noises/music coming from the cars blazing down E Washington Ave at 3am. I lived on the 5th floor with floor to ceiling windows on 2/4 of my walls. The view was astonishing.2) It's difficult to hear the noises from your neighbors upstairs since the floors are concrete (at least for me).3) Services seem to work well, had good communication with the apartment manager and things were fixed in a timely manner.4) Safety. Seems pretty safe overall. Now for the negatives:1) Elevator breaks easily. Since there's a lot of floors and people living on each floor, there's a ton of in and outs, especially during peak hours (mornings before work, evenings after work). There's also only 2 elevators for the whole building, so it can take time to go in and out, unless you're close to a staircase and don't mind walking. Good luck if you're in the penthouse. Also, people are constantly moving in and out, causing the elevators to slow. I waited 5 minutes once for an elevator and then decided just to take the stairs. There's no freight elevator so moving is a pain.2) COLD. The windows are beautiful, when it's warm. But the shades don't block out sunlight, so there's tons of light streaming in. I had to buy extra window shades to cover up. In the winter, there's a cold draft coming in constantly. Also, the windows are see-through from both sides so you have very little privacy since the windows are floor-to-ceiling.3) Parking. Like previous commenters, the parking lot is not well built. Two cars can't go through at the same time. Who designed this?4) Packages are scattered everywhere in the 1st floor. They updated it so that they're somewhat organized, and I've never had a package go missing. I've had them be hard to find and searched for 20 minutes, but they're usually eventually found. I did see a homeless guy sleeping on the couch in the lobby once though.5) Built-ins. The built-in cabinets are very cheap material, but normal for an apartment like this where the goal is to maximize profit. They would break sometimes. When I moved in, they were still fixing the built-ins that the previous tenant broke.6) Price. For the price, I'd suggest getting a nicer apartment somewhere else. I had a good deal, but they raised the rate and it wasn't worth the price.Your choice whether you want to move in, but just FYI - people are constantly leaving this place and moving out every week.

I'm a UW Madison student who only lives here because its all that was left when I got off the waitlist. Its far from campus, extremely expensive, and thats not the start of it. If I want to have a productive day and wake up early, there is never any hot water, I assume its because everyone else is doing the same on the floors below. I moved in, and by November, my apartment was warmer with the heater off than on. It was blowing cold air for some time before they came to fix it. The fire alarm system might be the most annoying thing in the world. I'm typing this after a day of at least 5 instances where the alarm went off, one of which the entire building was evacuated. Its nice to live above a grocery store, but not great when I want to get to class on time, have productive mornings, or get some sleep.

Location is really nice. Apartment is nice. That's about it for positives.I'm fairly certain most of my issues are due to living on the side of the building that faces East Washington Ave. Do not rent on that side of the building.Elevators are constantly broken so you get to enjoy waiting 10+ minutes to ride the elevator.Fire alarms at all hours of the evening, so you won't be able to sleep. They sometimes go for one to two hours. Never has there once actually been a fire. This tends to happen 2 to 4 times a month. Sometimes multiple times in one evening. If you're planning to rent a unit on the side of the building that faces East Washington Ave, then you will get to listen to people drag racing in obnoxiously loud vehicles that sound like someone is rattling off gun fire in the streets from the hours of 8pm to 2 am every Thursday through Sunday. Additionally the establishment across the street plays music very loud outdoors from 10pm to 2am from Thursday through Saturday. It is loud enough that you will be able to feel the music reverberate through your furniture. It eases up in the winter but it still happens. Don't let staff lie to you that you won't be able to hear the cars or music. The cars are glaringly loud and the music is tiresome. Don't be surprised to find a corpse laying in the road either. Someone dies on the road outside the building once every couple months at least.Packages and belongings are stolen fairly frequently from the lobby or parking garages. Also good luck finding your package as they seem to just be tossed anywhere in the lobby. The parking garage is incredibly narrow where two vehicles cannot go through the corners at the same time. The units must share a ventaltion system because my apartment constantly smells like marijuana and I don't partake. Everyday I get home from work it smells like someone has been ripping bong in my apartment the entire day I was out. I don't have anything against weed, I would just prefer my apartment didn't smell like dabs and bong smoke.Property management is also highly unresponsive. Phones are rarely picked up, voicemails and emails are seldom replied to.

I've had an incredibly loud, metallic noise coming from my bedroom which has made it unable to use for 4 TOTAL MONTHS. I have reported this to the Galaxie staff weekly for 4 months in which maintenance has viewed the problem and basically said sorry you're out of luck. My bed is literally in the living room because the single bedroom apartment that I am paying for is a small studio with the bedroom unusable. From here I have been paying for a single bedroom apartment (at these rates, which isn't cheap), and have gotten an apartment now half the size because I can't use rooms. When I asked for some sort of credit for compensation for this they said the ownership offers no credit and gave me the option to leave the lease "because they'll fill this apartment if I leave due to the high demand". Based on this my assumption is they don't care at all about the tenant and the tenants problems (that they're responsible for) and are just trying to churn through as many people as possible not caring who they burn -- because whoevers after me will experience these same problems if not fixed. Now I have to take legal action because, per the lease, they are responsible for this and have been beyond negligent. Perhaps the worst way to live in a luxury apartment in all of the state of Wisconsin. The claims by other ratings are true, the fire alarms go off easily probably 5+ times a month in which you will need to evacuate the building. I didn't mind that nearly as much as I did the negligence and lack of care they have for people who live here. Absolutely unbelievable.

I was surprised by the number of negative reviews so thought I'd offer a counterpoint. We lived here for one year (2019-2020) and loved it. The maintenance staff were responsive, and the apartments were modern (very large windows!), and amenities are nice (rooftop patio is great!). Our corner apartment was very quiet, which was nice for our dogs. The "deluxe studio" was affordable for what it was, and cheaper per square foot than other places downtown. Living above a supermarket was great, and you can bring your cart right to your apartment (but please be courteous and return it quickly). Some negatives: the elevator breaks down constantly, which is terrible if you live on a high floor. The management would often give unrealistic dates for fixing things (when we toured, the dog run/garden were closed but supposed to be open by the time we moved in... actually they opened 6 months after we moved in). The fire alarm goes off every couple months and everyone has to evacuate for 20-30 minutes. All in all, the complex has some issues but is still a great place to live. I would have stayed longer if I hadn't left Madison.

Nice apartment building overall but their fire alarms go off at unpredictable times of the night during winter months in the absence of any fires. I have had to drag myself out of bed onto the curb on more than 5 occasions during freezing weather because of the poor quality of their construction which triggers these alarm).Running log of false fire alarms:1. On the morning of 1/17/2020. Their fire alarm system cannot handle cold weather, happens every-time the temperature dips.2. On the night of 1/29/20213. On the night of 4/7/20214. On the night of 7/16/2021

Paying more and getting less every year. This is a great apartment buildings for smurfs. Turn off the blue lights. The response you see below from "the owner" is false. Avoid Gebhardt.

The Galaxie building and parking ramp have very poor layouts. It's as if the parking ramp was constructed with the thought that multiple cars wouldn't be driving through it simultaneously. There is a consistent lack of urgency among the MPM admin staff when it come to repairs and emergencies. If you are touring these apartments, be on the look out for mold. It's everywhere. The building fire alarms are deafeningly loud within all rooms of the apartment and go off at all hours of the day and night because of Festival Foods. The lack of freight elevators makes moving in and out of these buildings an absolute nightmare.Don't count on your unit actually reaching the cool temperature you set during warm days. For a building that is less than 10 years old, it's hard to believe you can't keep your unit at a desired temperature. MPM staff chalks it up to tenants not using their ineffective window shades.I would not choose to live here again. The only positives about this building are it's proximity to the square and to Festival Foods.

This is honestly the best apartment I’ve ever lived in. Me and my boyfriend fell in love in this apartment. We had sex almost everywhere you would imagine. I give this place a 10/10 and I sill be so sad leaving it.

Horrible management. Rampant drug abuse allowed in the building. Management unresponsive. Service calls not responded to. They take money out of your bank account after you cancel auto payment and will not refund. constant fire alarms at all times. multiple elevators down at all times. no reprocussions to the management, just the residents which they don't care about. DO NO MOVE HERE. They make you sign a new 12 month lease 6 months after moving in. Horrible
