I like capital fitness because it has a lot of bathrooms. Let’s just say that when you’re pushing / giving it all when you’re working out… nature calls.Nature will go ahead and make sure that I can take care of my business ASAP.I like to think that I’m an honest guy and a simple man. I rate based on my needs. But hey I see that people here want the steam sauna very bad but have we considered the fact that we have a working plumbing on every single floor? I don’t know. Something to be grateful for

Been going here 5 years and it’s one of my favorite gyms. However I need to report that in the past year some of the maintenance has noticeably gone downhill. Both the steam sauna and main floor dry sauna have not been working for ~6 months since Nov 2023. If you visit or take a tour make sure to pay attention to what is broken and ask questions. There’s always some vague excuse about heating/air conditioning, people tampering with the controls, or mysterious parts on order. Not sure if they’re trying to save money on their electric bill or technician service calls or what. Your customers are paying for and expect functioning equipment. On the plus side, they nicely remodeled the 4th floor Yoga Sangha studio entry and bathrooms. It’s an excellent value for the gym and yoga classes combined with a great variety of instructors.I will also say everyone who works in and around the gym is friendly and nice, which is why I keep coming back.

I went to this gym for a few years, they had a great deal for going during off hours. I loved my routine and the machines here. It was generally not too crowded. Not the cleanest or dirtiest gym. Lots of natural light. However, since I started going, they did renovations that took away one of the women’s locker rooms and the remaining women’s locker room consequently felt more crowded and smelly. They have dry sauna in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms, but the men’s additionally has a steam sauna. So if you’re a man you have two locker rooms and a steam sauna, if you’re a woman you get to pay the same price and access to less stuff.I brought it up to a manager there and he said he would pass it on to the owner, the conversation left me with zero confidence anything would be done about the blatant gender inequity.Either make the offerings equal, or don’t make women pay as much money! It’s not rocket science.

Great gym, friendly people, but they really need to fix stuff a bit faster -- the steam room and one sauna have been broken for months (since at least Oct for the steam room).

I find capital fitness thoroughly unclean and the constant nickeling and diming - postage throughout threatening termination/fee for not doing x, activation fee, cancellation fee, towel fee and $7 protein shakes

Good equipment and plenty of it: I rarely have to wait for a squat rack or bench even at peak hours. But locker rooms and sauna/steam room are often dirty/smelly. For the high price I would expect better quality.Best for people who live nearby… otherwise go somewhere cheaper or nicer.

They've got all the amenities and equipment you could want. Everything is always clean and neat, and generally there is enough equipment to go around at any given time. Also, the vibe at the place is always friendly and not the least bit intimidating. Easy to understand contract policies as well, I had to change my plan and was able to upgrade easily. When it came time to cancel my membership when I moved it was no problem at all.

5 starts for my personal trainer Lucas.I truly recommend Lucas, he is really an awesome person and trainer. He knows a lot about what he does, and does it with with a big deal of commitment and generosity with his time and knowledge. He has the patience to guide you through your progress while focusing in a thorough pre and post workout, which I personally asked for due to injuries in my wrist and shoulder, but never thought it was going to be that good. Thank you Lucas for all you did for me.

Headphones died just in time for me to overhear/watch a trainer stop what he was doing to pick up a chick. Started flirting and even managed to grab her digits. Was pretty rad to watch, my guy is one smooth operator. 5 stars for the confidence! Might need to get some training myself.

Was a member for 6 years and have watched the east side location really blossom after the pandemic. Super clean and accessible. New equipment and amenities being added constantly seemingly in response to what people need. Really awesome community, trainers, and staff. Wish I didn't have to move!

Nice facility, nice staff. Great option for strength trainers. Never too full when I go and it’s a super fair price (but idk how it compares to other gyms in Madison)
