It’s unfortunate that zero stars is not an option because even one star is too much. Since February of 2023, I have been trying to close my deceased mama’s checking account with $305 dollars in it. It’s been an absolute nightmare. Every time I went in, I was given misinformation, incomplete information, and the lack of sympathy and outright rudeness from the staff was abhorrent. Today, I spoke with Derek Ogden, who had also spoken with me the last time I was in. Once again, I didn’t have all the documentation that I needed because Derek, didn’t properly outline what documents I needed when I met with him the first time. When I brought this to his attention, he said he never met with me previously, didn’t recognize my name and when I said I had his business card from the first time I spoke with him, he said a teller could have just given that to me. I have never been gaslighted to this degree by anyone, let alone a bank employee. Unprofessional and quite frankly disturbing behavior. I will say that the manager, Lori, was always kind, responsive, and helpful, but the fact that I had to deal with so much incompetence along the way is just not okay.

Made multiple calls to inquire about my closed accounts. They told me they had to do some research to find the account and would get back to me. A month passed and I heard nothing. I made another call; they answered one of my questions and explained the team hadn’t got back to them so they did not contact me. Now I have to wait again for their “research”. Such inefficiency!

They took 24 minutes depositing my money and I asked for a new card and they had an attitude the whole time. I spent way too long in there for them to be rude I’m changing banks next tax season.

I'm executor of an estate and needed get a document notarized, and a medallion guarantee (these are services provided by banks). I called BMO and was told they could do these and to go the branch. Drove there, and was shown into an office. When I handed over the documents, the person asked if I had an account with them. I answered no, and she pretty much tossed the documents back to me with a dismissive "We only provide these services for people who have been customers for more than 6 months." No apology for the incorrect information I was given, no offer to help find another bank that could provide the services. She was practically sneering. These are services that most banks provide free of charge. What a despicable, unhelpful place.

I visit this this bank weekly and have always felt welcome and known. I am not one of their larger accounts but they treat me as if I were. I always refer my friends here!

I don't bank with BMO, but I recently started going through them for a loan and they have been so helpful to me in figuring out how to set up payments, have always been willing to answer any and all of my questions, and have never pressured me to switch from my bank to them. Every time I have gone in here, they always greet me with smiling faces and I have never had to wait for help.

I asked them to obtain Colombian pesos for me in advance of a vacation and they gouged me for $120 on a $1,000 transaction. Wí s able to exchange money there for very minimal fee.

Tried to exchange coins for bills. Probably a 5 minute thing to do. Couldn't help me because I wasn't a curremt customer. Drove to a separate bank helped me no problem. Stay way from this place. I don't know how they expect to get new customers if they won't help anyone new.

Called at 12:01 pm on a Saturday to make a transfer to another member's account. After ignoring the call for 20 seconds, an annoyed woman answers and asks me how she can help, and after I explain I need to do something that would take 2 minutes, she tells me to call the customer service line, which was unable to help me. So much for "the BMO affect" and great customer service! Getting out of work at noon on a Saturday is way more important to these rude employees. If I could rate a zero I would. 🖓
