This is the second and the last time I go into that store in twenty years.
Going in, I was looking for a previous item that I saw the first time I visited. Happily I saw it was still there.
* This is on the complete opposite side of where the cash register is.
I approached the counter all chipper and everything. Cheerful. Upbeat. Friendly and yet still professional.
I said to the man that was behind the counter, "Hey! How are ya?"
He replied in a very dry, seemingly irritated monotone, "Whatcha need?"
I had to think for a moment, am I in Macy's or something????
I mentioned the item that I was coming for. This worker mentioned, "That it is not for sale. Actually I was on my way to the front of the store to straighten it up."
Huh? Out of the thousands of tattered and torn and used items, I picked the specific one random item that he chose to pay attention to at the moment. Again, odd.
After I mentioned it was for a film prop, He responded by repeating what I said,
"Hmm... a film prop."
* I still find it odd that out of the thousands of items in that store, this person decides to "straighten up" THE VERY ONE that I was looking for AT THE TIME I CAME IN and asked about it.
After a little bit more conversation, he came up with this astronomical amount for the item (I am assuming because of what I was using it for).
Needless to say, I did not get it and I will never return there.
You never know who is going to walk through those doors. A thrift store was used to obtain wardrobe effects for the film Public Enemies, Titanic and the 70s Show (here in WISCONSIN).
If you are going thrift store shopping do yourself a favor... Go somewhere else. Such poor treatment will never help a business prosper.

Hidden treasures every where, you just have to look for it. Incredibly reasonable prices and a wide selection to choose from.

This place should either have more curated and higher quality items, or significantly lower prices.Aside from that the service is also bad. First time I went I asked for the price of an item and the guy told me to make an offer. Caught off guard I offered more than I wanted to pay ($5 for a broken shoe rack) just for him to counter with $6. Again caught off guard I just paid it.Second time I went in there was simply nobody in the store except 2 other customers. Door was wide open but nobody was there. I will not go back a third time

As a reseller I go thrifting almost daily.. I am usually not bothered by conditions and staff but thus place is full of lazy rude employees. The guy in back didn't even acknowledge I was in the store and the lady's comment when trying to check out was I'll be there when I get there. Needless to say I just t left and will never try again

It was large with lots of items to look at. The price tags on some items were hard to find.

We like going to this store every time we come to Madison, but we were disappointed when we came and saw it was closed. It was 4:15 on a Friday, google said it was supposed to be open and the door said it was open, but it wasn't. Sad we couldn't shop

I easily found a good quality dresser for a great price that just needed a sand and paint. Customer service was great! The guy working helped me figure out if it would fit in my SUV and then helped me load it. I was lent a dolly and some moving blankets too.

I don’t know what that guy is talking about. The girl at the desk says hi to everyone as they walk through the door. Prices are super low and you can find some of the most interesting and unusual things here. This is a buy and sell shop, they don’t take donations, and they buy whole estates. You could go there every day and still find things you didn’t find before.

Quite possibly the worst resale store out there. Crazy high prices and staff that doesn't acknowledge anyone who comes in. Filthy inside as well with no organization. Avoid at all costs

Excellent employee/customer relations: help choosing a birthday gift for a man, openness about future availability of two tall matching breakfronts for sale, and very careful packaging of large glass fruit bowl with four plastic tumblers. Thank you very much!

Got a great mid-century sofa and chair set for a great deal! Looks like new pieces from West Elm, but for a fraction of the cost. The owner was great to work with and friendly! I will be coming back for more pieces for our new home.
