I have to rent a storage unit here last minute on a trip from Minneapolis to Chicago. I had an accident that forced me to leave my car stored while I was away for almost two months. I left the storage unit adequately locked, and when I came back to take my car out, I found out that malicious people have taken my car away by parts. They took the most expensive parts of the vehicle and some belongings I had in the trunk. I could not believe it. They must have spent a long time in the storage unit trying to start the car and steal it, but because they couldn't, they decided it steel the essential parts. I could not drive my car back, and I ended up towing it for 200 miles. The response from the storage unit customer service was not helpful. There were no cameras, no gates, and not positive feedback from them. A storage unit should at least have a security camera system. It is a beneficial and cheap investment if you own a place where people are paying to keep their belongings safe. I am a foreigner, and my credit card did not cover any of my stolen belongings either. It was just a horrible experience for me. My advice is to find another storage unit if you have the option.
