Had an AMAZING experience here! when all other venues on the island were closed on a Saturday morning, we saw the tavern lights on and found Michelle who welcomed us with open arms!! She didn’t skip a beat to open early just for us, and her generosity and kindness was just what our group of tired moms needed to brighten our day. Service was exceptional, the tavern was warm and cozy. Next time we’re going to rent the condo units upstairs for the full experience!! Thank you Bell Street Tavern!

We were just in on Saturday morning. Michelle graciously opened early to serve our tired and overworked group of moms Bloody Mary's. Her gracious and delightful service literally moved us to happy tears! We left promising to name our next babies after her and agreed that our experience at the Bell Street Tavern was a core memory! The drinks were wonderful. We will be back again on our next visit to the island!

We used the Bellstreet Tavern to host our wedding dinner and have been working with them for 3 years due to delays with COVID. The event space coordinator, Michelle, was super helpful in connecting with our catering team as well as our coordinator team to make sure the day went smoothly. The space is beautiful and was perfect for our intimate wedding dinner of about 40 people. The bar tending staff was also incredibly helpful for our guests. The only thing we noticed was that there was a wedding on Friday night (the night before ours) and that wedding party did not seem to follow the contract rules of being fully cleaned out by 10 AM the morning of our wedding. My friends and wedding coordinator that set up the dinner space had a lot of extra stuff to clean up (we did tell the other wedding party they could leave just a few things for us to re-use) and move around for the previous event and there was also a lot of garbage and cigarette butts on the ground of the outdoor patio space that our friends had to clean up before our wedding party showed up.

We vacation in Bayfield every summer and in years past we never identified this as a tavern/restaurant/entertainment spot…just didn’t see it down the street there. This time we ventured in, drawn by lights and silhouettes of people at the bar. A closer look at the poster showed a live band tonight - now you have the attention of our group of two couples. It was already 9-ish on a Friday night and we’d just left a rowdy and super fun bar on the next block (you know the one), and we were ready to slow down a bit and get some food before catching the Ferry. Walking in, we found the crowd to our liking. Not crowded, not super young and everyone here had showered this week. After ordering drinks we walked through the main floor and looked at the historic photos. Very cool. There’s a large dining table in the front room that’s a work of art on its own. Natural wood, live edge, with a “stream” of lake stones adorning one end. About 12 feet long and just beautiful. Three piece band sounded great and said hello to us on a break. Brownie Points for that. We ordered three appetizers for our table: pork medallions in an amazing sauce, au graten potatoes in another amazing sauce, and meatballs in marinara. All came with fresh bread. All were chef made , unique and all were absolutely delicious. The staff was busy, but as we sat at our table or worked our way back to the bar we were always promptly acknowledged, always covered by their care and never once felt like we were “waiting”. Amazing in this time of short staffing. Food was So Good. We asked to please speak with the Manager or Owner and Michelle promptly stood table side asking how we found things tonight. It was our absolute pleasure to let her know how much we enjoyed our couple of hours at Bell Street. She was appreciative of course, and talked about the new vision they were working toward. Everything was great. The bar room, the band, the food…but what actually stood out the most was Michelle and her very caring staff. They were fully invested in taking care of four “non-locals”, and clearly loved what they were doing. Thanks for the perfect way to close a night on the Island.

We organised our wedding reception at the Bell Street Tavern and would highly recommend it! Michelle and her team were flexible and receptive to our suggestions on the food menu (the kitchen did an excellent job) and drinks selection. The dining room was beautiful in the evening light for our reception dinner and we had a great time turning the back room into a dancefloor !

Food was good. We had the whitefish benny with mushroom cream sauce and strawberry crema french toast. Not many stawberries. Mimosa was warm. Staff was very friendly and when we did see them very helpful. They seemed very understaffed. No view of anything from the restaurant. It is usally an event center. Side note take a look at the placemaps they have. The show madeline island with some key locations. The legend shows bathrooms. See if you can find the bathroom

My first visit to the Bell Street Tavern was last fall for the Harvest Dinner. Food was excellent. Nice bar area for mingling and it was fun to hang out on the deck. Check it out.
