I donated blankets with cold weather coming. I hope everyone that reads this can make donations. Lots of sweet and innocent animals need to be taken care of, adopted etc.

My mom adopted a fantastic dog from Dodge a few years ago and I adopted one myself 2 weeks ago. The staff is amazing. They know alot about each of the animals and what they need. They're all caring and looking for the right family for each little furry soul. I recommend adopting from them 100%.
SHELTERS ARE FULL EVERYWHERE.
ADOPT!
DON'T SHOP!

No contract with Rubicon. Not helpful when I was trying to find the family of a cat that wandered into our garage. The contact I was told to call to get authorization to bring the cat in said “we don’t do cats.” Not acceptable and to charge a $100 surrender fee or let a house cat fend for herself in the wild is unacceptable. Thankfully Washington County humane society scanned her and helped me connect with her family. Mila is now home again with her family and the kids are so happy to have her back. She was a long way from home and missing for several days. She was starving and had survived crossing many roads and highways. I’m as angry with Dodge County as I am with Rubicon and the lack of empathy. Shame on you both.

It's very frustrating to see so many animals in need of homes at a variety of shelters and humane societies but yet shelters and humane society's have become such an inconvenience to work with.. My daughter and I stopped in recently as we were looking to adopt a cat. We decided to check out DCHS after having poor luck checking into other places. A lady pointed us in the direction of the cat area and said if we were interested in seeing any to let them know and then she disappeared. My daughter and I scanned and interacted with a few different cats. The first cat we were interested in got adopted right away. The second cat we were interested in was being picked by another family. The final cat we were very interested in was hanging out in his kennel. We went to find someone to help us meet the cat and fill out adoption paperwork. We walked right up to a person working there and they just blew us off. Then a few minutes later another family came in and went right up to the cat we were waiting to see and said they wanted it and wanted the paperwork to fill out. The guy immediately helped them and took them and the cat to another room. My daughter and I just decided to leave after that. We had similar instances in the past but thought maybe things might have changed...I guess not. Another time recently, my whole family stopped in as we were still in search of the perfect cat or dog for us. They didn't have a cat that fit us at that time so we asked to see the dogs and were told they don't do that anymore. We seen one we were interested in their website and asked about it but, they didn't have much info on it aside from it having mange. They told us they didn't recommend us visiting with her and to wait. So we left. Later that day they posted a picture of they same dog saying how nobody had interest in seeing her but we were literally just in there wanting to see her ... Seems they have have become a bit picky and choosey as well on who they want to help.

We had such a great experience with the Dodge County Humane Society. We have a 1 year old Doberman male in our home but wanted to find another female to keep him company, and had come across miss Nola on their facebook page. We met her in person and she was a total sweetheart. DCHS went over all of the information they had on Nola from her previous owners and their experiences with her, and then we set up a meeting with our dog to see if they would be a good fit. Our first meeting with the dogs was a little rocky, so we took a day to think. We went back a few days later to take Nola and our current dog for a walk (thanks to the DCHS staff for being SO flexible with us, and so supportive in finding Nola a great home). Our second meeting went TREMENDOUS. We’ve now had Nola for a few weeks and couldn’t imagine a life without her. She and her brother are two peas in a pod. The DCHS staff was so great at scheduling, flexibility, communication, and ensuring we would be a good fit for Nola. We are so grateful! Hope to give her the best life she could possibly live.

My experience here was very good. The staff are professional and helpful, answered any and all questions I had about my potential adoption of one of their dogs. The only thing I would complain about is on their website it did not specify that we needed "all the adults in the household to be there". Maybe that should be a given, but each place is different and I would have planned accordingly given my husband was at work. But they were very easy to work with as our schedules are very busy. We adopted our new pup and everyone was happy and we have a new addition to our family. I would go back to this place in the future.
