Dr Hein is a sorry excuse for a vet! He does make a lot of $$$$ at the expense of our pets! He's arrogant and a liar. Please don't take your pets to this man. Even prescribed an antinflamatory with a steroid!!! Very stupid and dangerous to animals!

Dr. Hein is a despicable excuse for a veterinarian, and has no business being in this practice. He does not care about your pet, and will not be there when you need him. Please never bring your animals to Van Loon, you will regret it and they deserve so much better. Our dog was diagnosed with cancer, and we knew she wouldn't have much time left. Any time we asked him a question, he made us feel like we were bothering him, he was extremely rude and even hung up on us once because he was too busy to care and his ego was hurt because he felt like we were questioning his instructions. He always told us to call anytime there was an emergency, but when our dog took a sudden turn for the worse and we did call to tell him it was time to let her go and asked for his help, his response was ASTOUNDING. He said "I told you to be prepared for this, you knew it was going to happen. You should have called earlier in the day, I've worked a 10 hr day, I'm tired and I'm not going back in. If what I think is happening is happening, she will start throwing up and eventually go into shock and die. I'll be in the office at 9am tomorrow". Mind you it was 6PM that we called him, not midnight or something...and I'm sorry but we cant PLAN our dog's emergency around office hours! Our only option was to drive an hour and a half to the emergency vet in Eau Claire to try to help put her out of her misery, but she passed away violently in the car 20 minutes from that emergency clinic. Do yourself a favor and NEVER take your pet to Dr. Hein for ANY reason, ever. He just doesn't care, and will treat you and your pet like garbage and charge you obscene amounts to do so.

1st time Thier very unprofessional made me wait and hour with my 2 month old in really bad pain. Doctor talking to the front deck lady I can hear everything thru the walls talking bad bout her and not wanting to look or help. And give me the worst attitude.

Dr Van Loon was very honest with us regarding our cat's diabetes. Other vets wanted to keep increasing the drugs. He told us she was insulin
resistant. I followed his instructions and she lived another 10 yrs. She has had the best life!
How amazing is that!

Van Loon has been our care provider for our pets for 20 years or more. I like the approach that Dr. Heim takes to taking care of our pets and his ability to discuss the options available without pressuring to spend money just to spend money. He has been a fantastic vet for us for many years and will continue to be.
