I began volunteering and learning about the birds. I drove 2.5 hours one way and I LOVED it! If I lived closer i would volunteer daily. It was so educational and fun. I love Mercury and ended up adopting a beautiful African Grey who was 29 and is the light of my life along with 4 dogs and 3 cats. I never thought i’d be a bird owner but I love her so much and even though i was told she hated men, she LOVES my sons who visit and my husband! On warm Wisconsin days she rides in the car with me and she recently drove 25 hours to Florida and loved it! She is such a joy! I work at home and as an empty nester, she is my new baby and i’m never lonely lol. Thomas from Feathered Friends taught me SO much and I LOVE how they have you come several times. I wanted to adopt a cockatoo but quickly realized the noise and neediness was too much for me. I love the comical nature of the amazon parrot and may look to adopt Mercury if he is still available. I wanted to adopt Davey, but he was adopted - yay!!!

I have boarded my parrots here for over 15 years and they do a fantastic job caring for them while I am away. The process is simple, the staff is helpful, and I always come back to happy and healthy birds.
I also adopted parakeets a couple years ago. The process was thorough and we found the right match for our family.

Full disclosure I volunteer at the sanctuary, so I might be a bit biased ?. It is a nice place that has many birds in its care. They take a lot of care when placing birds. They want to make sure it is a good fit for both the individuals and the birds. If you have any questions definitely reach out.

This place is amazing. Many different kinds of birds that need homes. Volunteers spend time taking care of them, and getting them ready for a new home. All birds are cared for greatly. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity, or are looking to adopt a parrot this is the place to be!

I adopted my Senegal from here about 5/6 years ago. They were wonderful, and made sure I had all the information they had on him at the time, was given supplies needed, and that I was taking home the best match of all the birds they had! Highly recommend.
