This place is an absolute joke! Don't waste your time on selling your clothes here! They advertise that they are desperately looking for men's clothes and when my boyfriend and I brought in over $1000 worth of name brand men's jeans (some never even worn) they passed on all of them! I managed a well known boutique for a few years and brought in my collection of high end boutique brands that had literally never been worn and they passed on all of them. They claimed that the items were too worn yet they ended up buying 3 shirts that were literally the worst of everything I brought in for $6. Either this store doesn't have the money to purchase any of the name brand items people bring in or the staff is absolutely moronic about style and what is worth purchasing; from the other reviews that have been posted here it seems like it's both! Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or energy on selling to this store. They're ridiculous!

Not the best employees and very tacky with what they will resell. I’d recommend buying quality clothing that’ll last you rather than shopping at Plato’s

I have been selling to the Eau Claire Plato’s for years. I waited for my small bin of clothes to be processed for three hours on a Monday morning. I checked back in to see my bin of clothes already processed on the floor. But was told, it would still be an hour. The manager continued to look through other people’s clothes in the meantime. I had not allotted that much time in eau claire that day and their solution was to give me all my clothes back even though they had already chosen what clothes they wanted of mine. Their solution was “just bring them back another day then”. The manager has always been very rude to me and had to tell me it was taking a long time because of her health problems. She has been very unprofessional and rude over the years and I will not be returning here.

I think this place sucks honestly. I had some extremely cute crop tops that I never wore because I don't like long sleeved crop tops, too warm. They didn't want anything to do with them because they weren't name brand, yet then they didn't want my brand new $40 shirt from Victoria's Secret? Basically they never buy anything so its just a waste of time

Never have tried selling here, but shopping here isn’t too bad. Some items are definitely overpriced, but I’ve managed to find good deals on other things. It really depends on the day you go. I usually find the best deals on shoes there, everything else doesn’t seem very discounted.

Manager always remembers me. Great deals and I always get a decent amount when I sell here.

I’m not sure who it is but there is a lady who usually goes though the clothes and she is a little bigger and older. But she is very rude, I overheard her talking about other customers calling them “stupid” and “not observant” when all she did was ask about when her clothes would get done sorted through. She doesn’t know how to look through clothes because she is calling them “worn” when half the stuff in that store is worn. Also a couple of years ago when covid was around but it kinda died down, she yelled at me and my other friends for taking out mask off to take a drink of water. That is very outrageous when she never even wore hers on correctly. If you want to shop here it’s perfect but not the customer service.

I typically enjoy shopping at Plato’s Closet, but my last few experiences have been awful. I purchased over $200 in clothing last weekend (Saturday) while shopping with my mom, and when I got home, I realized that nearly all of the items had stains or a rip/hole in them. I chose to keep a few items, as I really liked them and wanted to attempt to fix them. I brought the other items back the following Friday to be returned, and even after telling the cashier that the items were damaged, they asked another employee to hang them back up and put them out.My mom had the same issue and attempted to return a few of her items today (Sunday), and the staff refused to accept the returns due to their seven day policy. I completely understand why stores have strict return policies, but with Thanksgiving happening between the time the items were purchased and an EXTREMELY packed store on Black Friday (I waited 30 minutes to return my items), I feel that they could’ve been more understanding; especially considering that we live 45 minutes away from the store and couldn’t simply run the damaged items back immediately.Sadly, I am unsure that I will return to Plato’s Closet to shop any longer, which makes me SO sad. I used to love shopping there. The manager and staff are less than accommodating, and the majority of items being sold at their store are not in the “gently used” condition that they so heavily advertise.

Most items I bring in to sell, they pass on. Lately they've told me that the jeans I brought in, were out of style. Come on! Jeans don't go out of style, except for Bell Bottoms. They've told me to give them a few hours, and then I come back to find that they passed on everything! So, I wasted quite a few days waiting on them. Also, a couple of the gals that work there, are very stuck up and rude. Take my advice, go to Cherry Pickers or Goodwill and Saver's. They are not worth the trip!

I have always loved shopping and selling here but today was not my day with them. I dropped off two buckets at 1:00pm and then waited almost 4 hours to come back and see that they didn’t take anything because there was a spider in the bucket. Clothes were washed the night before also. I heard one employee talking saying how the girls were going through and saw it and then just then finished going through. Not very happy

Normally not one to post bad reviews but after today I have to say something. My mom (49 years old) and I (21 years old) went in to drop off clothes. The main lady I assume is a manager or the owner was working the desk. She was one of the rudest women i have ever met. We came back to get our clothes and again the same lady helped us. She made it very clear to my mom to never bring clothes in again because “they only market to younger teens and young adults, not older women”. Ma’am, if you are reading this watch what you say to women. I don’t care if that is what market for, simply state that the clothes are pilled or discolored or that normalspeech they give people. Calling my mom old and out of style seems discriminatory and down right disrespectful. Do better. I would give zero stars if I could.

You can tell this store does not value their customers. Don't waste your time, better to sell on facebook market or mercari, poshmark, curtsy

When it comes to selling your stuff to them unless you buy it brand new, take the tags off, wash, dry and then take them in right away without wearing them at all don't waste your time. Ridiculously picky and rude staff. You couldn't pay me to shop or sell there.

I don’t know why there are so many negative reviews but this was by far the best Plato’s I’ve ever been too and the lady was super nice and knew what she was doing. This isn’t goodwill or savers they want to take things that will actually sell because it’s a store with trendy, name brand stuff. It was clean and organized. Very well done.

definitely a hit or miss:/ I like shopping there but most of their prices are comparable to retail price... I've sold to this location a few times and it's very hit or miss. one time I made almost $70 for clothes I had thrifted but no longer wore. last time I made $17 for name brand clothes... they didn't even take the gymshark clothes I had in the bag... (while there was a whole rack of gymshark stuff next to the register)
