The bridal party stayed here for our family wedding. The rooms were so clean and tastefully decorated. Comfy. The owner bent over backwards for us . We had our rehearsal dinner here. And they served a breakfast for the bridal party. Lovely fire pit in the back. Quaint and charming. Very reasonable. Highly recommend!

10/10. Amazing place and hosts. Highly recommend for a golf trip to whistling straights. Better than staying on property and it’s only a couple minutes away.

We had family come from all over (Texas, Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin) to stay the weekend here and also use their pub for a graduation party. It was such a wonderful experience! I had zero stress because Elle and team took such great care of us. We will definitely be back!!
Rooms: Very clean and cozy!

Had a great stay at the lodge. We had a wedding at Whistling Straits and this place was close by. Rooms were clean and it was quiet. If we're in the area again, we will be back!

What a charming place!! We stopped for just one night but loved it so much we are hoping to come back for a longer stay. The rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished. The gathering room was lovely and cozy as was the outdoor eating area and fire pit area. The breakfast spread was very impressive. We spent the evening 6 minutes away at Fischer Creek Park enjoying Lake Michigan’s shoreline with beautiful views.

Had a work meeting that was late in Manitowoc, but opted to stay closer to my event at the Highland Lodge. Was greeted by friendly staff that actually politely worked through a booking error (my fault entirely) with me and I was greeted to a clean, well stocked room. The next morning there was a fully stocked fridge for breakfast and a beautiful patio with morning sun to enjoy my breakfast on. If I’m in the area again, I will be back!

I came across this place by accident. I was cold, tired, and scared driving on Icy windy roads. I pulled off at the first exit I could and saw the motel sign and pulled right in. I had a lot of self doubt coming to a motel in a strange area. My brain has been trained to Compare quality to the name on the sign. But anything could be better then my current situation, And let me tell you it most definitely was.
I was Greeted by the most compassionate and kind receptionist. She took sympathy for my situation in this weather, and helped into a very cozy room promptly. I came with just the clothes on my back. The hospitality, was amazing and the person who was here during my stay went above and beyond to make the best out of the bad situation I found myself in. She offered food from the breakfast when everything in the area was closed, and a charging cord to borrow when I didn't have one.
Once I Was able to settle I realized the sheer beauty of this property. It is definitely a hidden gem. Each room and the property decorated With a similar and very charming "cow" theme. And as you relax, a peace comes over you that almost feels as good as coming home again. Never before has that feeling been replicated for me in a standard Hilton.
In each room there is a binder that tells you all about the area. The best places to eat and great descriptions. Something that has been lost along the way in big chains.
Looking on their website, they boast about their fluffy towels and they truly are the best I've experienced while lodging. The linens are cozy and the room stays pretty warm. There even is a balcony and the windows really open. Each room has a little mini fridge and tv with basic TV channels.
I woke in the morning feeling refreshed. I walked into the area for the provided breakfast. And I felt like I was walking into my grandmother's kitchen. It just felt like home. Very simple things to be offered for breakfast. Cereal, Granola, Bagels, fruit And hot coffee. It was enough that I could feel satisfied. The Receptionist, who helped me last night was there this morning and we had light conversation about the weather. She was friendly enough to offer the conversation and Respectful enough to grant me peace. Perfect balance.
While I was chatting, I found out she is indeed the owner to this beautiful lodge. She does it all. She is housekeeping receptionist and owner. If there is anybody who is passionate about supporting a local business, this is your space.
I have really nothing bad that I can say about this stay, It was everything that I didn't know I needed, But everything I was thankful to have.
I may have found this place by accident, but it's charm, beauty, and amazing hospitality will find me visiting again. Next time on better terms, Preferably without a snow storm.

We used the Highland Lodge for a wake for our sister. Elle and Tracy put together a very nice array of sausage, cheese , fruits and vegetables. There was a separate table for us to put memorabilia on the opposite wall, as to restrict a bottle neck from occurring. There was plenty of room for us to spread around and visit. They were up front about all costs and I would definitely use them again for ANY group function. Our group was to be 50 people and turned out to be 55. They were able to accommodate the extras without a single hiccup.

Staying at Highland Lodge was probably the best decision I made in my month visiting Wisconsin... I am tired of the recent "will it be clean?" and "will I feel safe" questions that accompany checking in to major lower budget chains after dark so I intentionally sought out something smaller in terms of ownership & property size. Highland Lodge was perfect!!It's a charming inn off of a very quiet exit in-between 2 larger towns (note: pick up dinner about 10 miles before you approach Highland Lodge). It's about half a mile off the highway and there's a very large gas station between the highway and the hotel.I loved choosing my room off of the accurate pictures online and took advantage of adding on a 6pack to await me and my takeout dinner. I was nervous that the pictures showed doors on the outside but actually you approach your room from the interior and have an option to step outside from your room.I described to someone that my room was as if my best friend designed her guest room to be a delight for me. There's charm, comfort, cleanliness and unexpected touches while still being modest and safe.Breakfast was continental but with lots of options of cereal and things to toast. I loved using "real" plates & mugs but there are also takeaway options. If you're going to be later than the stated check-in time, be sure to phone ahead. I look forward to staying again.

We stayed at the Highland Lodge in September 2023 and it truly exceeded our expectations. Elle, the owner and inkeeper, has completely remodeled the whole place and updated everything. It is modern and beautiful! She is an amazing host. The lodge itself is beautiful inside and out, with an amazing great room and beautiful outdoor space including a deck and firepit with Adirondack chairs. We literally could not have asked for a better stay. I would get here soon, as I think it will become so popular it will be hard to get a room soon! Thanks Elle (and Nate) for all your hard work and being such great hosts!
