If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have had the absolute worst experience with them and I never want to adopt another animal from a shelter because of them. They made this such a horrible experience. They lied about this dogs aggression and said he’s only “a little food aggressive.” And I asked what that meant and she told me “it’s not bad though” so we adopted him because we saw nothing else wrong with him and he acted normal when he met my boyfriend and I. I come to later find out there is a report to Chippewa county that this dog bit a child. He also bit my friend in the face and made him get 13 stitches and has tried to attack my boyfriend and I multiple times through his crate. He was such a friendly dog when we first met him because of how they introduce them by taking them outside on a leash and bringing him to us, but they do that so you don’t see the dogs in their “bad state.” If you’ve ever been to any other humane association, you can go into the back to see the dogs in their kennels and see how they act. They are definitely trying to hide a lot. I emailed and called them telling them to take the dog back because they didn’t tell me anything about this dog being aggressive besides food, they didn’t answer my emails or calls until I had my boyfriend call multiple times to get ahold of them, just to find out they won’t take this dog back. I am so done with this place and everyone in it. Shame on you guys I knew I should’ve went to a different place when I realized we had to meet the dogs outside on a leash.

Friend got ahold of me about a situation where people went on vacation and left their animals without food. Since it was in chippewa, I reached out, and they provided food for all of the animals. Thank you for being there for the animals!

I had a fantastic experience with the Chippewa Humane Association! I filled out the general application and they matched me with the perfect cat for my lifestyle. They move at a great pace too; I was approved for my adoption maybe 2-3 days after I filled out the form and I took him home that weekend! Will be returning here for my next animal ?

Outstanding communication via email with the volunteers, thorough adoption application, very kind humans. I ended up not adopting only because I found a cutie closer to home and didn’t make the drive out to WI. I would still trust and recommend this shelter!
