Amazing. Best meal of the trip, on par with 5 star in a big city without the big prices. The pork, filet, soups and apple cobbler were absolutely outstanding.

Beautiful mansion with well- appointed rooms and attentive staff. Within walking distance if the lake, shops, ferry, etc. Drive to orchards, blueberry picking, cider tasting.

I am hoping the experience was an anomaly? Our first impression was a hostess that clearly doesn’t like her job and has an attitude to prove it. “Your reservation is at 7:15, you can wait outside or wait upstairs.” (We arrived at 6:50 as I was sure our reservation was for 7pm-but whatever).Although the ribeye’s were done to our liking (medium and medium rare) the steaks were missing any hint of seasoning. I attempted to salt the steak twice to add flavor but the salt didn’t have flavor either. I have had more tender and flavorful steak at the Ponderosa steakhouse buffet in 1981.The “béarnaise” sauce looked like calf dung and was as bitter as the bitters in a brandy old fashioned. The spinach salad had the taste of fish and lacked any semblance of the advertised raspberry vinaigrette dressing. The dinner rolls were as hard and dry as hardtack and shredded the tops of our mouth. The highlight of the meal was a larger than life ant crawling across our table.Again, maybe anomaly?

What a wonderful B&B. It must be a labor of love for the owners as it is in extremely good condition. We stayed in suite XI - we loved it. Breakfast was scheduled in small groups so it wasn’t busy which was nice. It was definitely expensive but I believe worth the value. Quiet and convenient to all Bayfield offers. We will be back.Note, my only negative is the WiFi is very poor and my cell service at one bar was better.Walkability: A couple blocks away from restaurants and the ferry

Rooms and the entire property were immaculate! Located near town, walking was easy. Views were incredible. Will stay again.Rooms: Turn of the century (the last one....) vibe. Mattress was good, but a queen. And our room was a little warmer than we like. But a fan was available and it was all good.Nearby activities: Downtown. Ferry to the Apostle island a must! Moped riding was great fun too!Walkability: Very walkable. That said, be prepared for hilly walks!

My husband and i went up to Bayfield this past weekend for our anniversary and had the best time! The staff was so accommodating and our breakfast server, Lance, was the best server either of us had ever had. He was kind, attentive and really made us feel at home at the Rittenhouse inn. The room was spacious, tidy and quiet, perfect for a relaxing getaway. We will definitely be returning!

Super destination for a week or weekend, a couple of blocks above the Lake Superior Harbor. Very comfortable and perfectly sited in downtown Bayfield. The food a destination in itself; you will want to Winter over. The staff for the home and restaurant very accommodating; non pretentious quality and a salubrious attention to detail. A very well kept Victorian with a careful modern update for 21st Century comfort.Rooms: Clean, comfortable and well kept Victorian style.

This was my first visit to Bayfield and it was the best! We stayed in Room 10 for the weekend and the room was huge. The service was great from everyone. We had dinner the first night and it was delicious. We had the surf and turf ribeye and the salmon with shrimp ravioli. Breakfast each morning is included in the room and always came quick and was tasty. Lance was so nice! Thank you!
