Had an oil leak and took my car to his shop to check it out. He did a quick look to see how bad it was leaking to which he admitted it was leaking very bad. He said he needed to do a diagnostic test to see exactly where the issue was. After doing his diagnosis he told us that it was a tube that went bad and it would cost $700 to fix because he would have to pull apart the entire front to get behind the engine where the leak is but before he started anything he needed $400 up front. I paid him and he started the work. Two days after he called and said the car was ready but he needed an additional $100, just because. He didn’t fix anything besides the problem we identified at the beginning but wanted another $100. I told him we had already agreed to pay $700 before he started so charging another $100 when I am to pick up the car is robbery. He agreed and said $700 is fine. He even went as far as to say it wasn’t the tube but a seal that goes in the tube and it only cost $50. So $650 for him to change a seal and remember he wanted an additional $100. Upon getting the car, I realized that no oil was poured back into the motor and he was test driving it. How do I know because he told me so when I asked him. He said the dipstick had oil so he thought oil was in the motor even though my issue from the start was all my oil leaking out. How do you fix an oil leak and forget to pour back oil? How do you know the leak has stopped? As a result of his negligence my check engine light is now on, my engine is smoking and shaking abnormally and my engine fan still spins even when the car is off which it had never done before. None of this was a factor when he was given the car. So after he pulled apart the entire front of my car, not pouring back oil in the motor and test driving it for how long and how far, he doesn’t know why those issues are happening now. Be careful of this guy.
