We bought a Dodge Grand Caravan from Baraboo Auto Sales. They said they would remove a bumper sticker and fix a wiper before we came to pick it up and they did not. We had a small issue with the car and they blamed us for causing it and refused to take a look at it. We took the car to our mechanic who also sells used cars. There was a leak in a transmission line that had been obviously leaking for a lot longer than we had owned the car. They should have caught this issue but Baraboo Auto Sales skimps on vehicle inspections and says "it is the nature of selling used cars." The owner blames "superiors" as the reason he cannot help us.
We looked at another van that they had just received and it was beat up and disgusting. The vehicle was clearly abused and not well taken care of. They cleaned it up and posted it on Facebook and said it was a "nice clean van." I literally laughed out loud.
We also test drove a Honda Odyssey that shook at 70 mph and they said it just needs a $125 alignment. Obviously you would get it aligned if that was actually the issue. Just another red flag that I missed.

Total bust, went to buy a car that seemed to be amazing, called and they said nothing was wrong with it at all perfect condition, turns out it needed a jump start, tire pressure monitor and 2 codes on the check engine light. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Bought a 2013 Audi A4 from james a couple months back 2 days into owning it the battery died leaving me stranded and having to get a new battery because the one in the vehicle was not actually the correct one there goes $300 and on the same day my oil light comes on, strange because I checked the oil before buying the car 2 days ago but it’s almost empty so I go put oil in….then 2 days later my oil light comes on and it’s empty again. So I take it in to get looked at turns out the car needed new piston rings and the tires on the inside completely cracked and about to blow $9,500 quoted to fix it. So I called baraboo auto and explained that I wanted my money back or them to pay for the repairs because they had told me and signed a document stating that nothing was wrong with the vehicle and all maintenance that was needed was done. So after an hour of arguing with them they. Say that they need to look at the car and they will determine what’s wrong with it and they will do the maintenance on it. So I had to leave work drive an hour and a half there drop it off and find a way home. Then after 4 days of them having it and no one has called me to tell me anything I call them and what do you know they haven’t had a chance to look at and they will call me the following day….. 3 days later no word I call again they said they are going to put a new motor in and they will call me when it’s done. Another 3 days go by and I call them again well now they aren’t putting in a new motor
Just new piston rings. And finally after 2 weeks of not having my car they say I can come get it. I go get it I ask if they can send me receipts for the parts they put on/ replaced James says yes but later when I emailed them for the receipts no response so I emailed again no response I call they don’t answer. And ever since then I’ve only had more issues EPC light on, check engine light, a misfiring issue and needed a new coolant pump. An absolutely awful business and people who don’t care who they screw over.

We purchased a vehicle (VW Passat) from James a few months ago for my son. Even though there were some mechanical issues right away, James and team did everything they could to take care of us & get my son back on the road. I don't think that many used car sales people would have bothered (sales as is), but we are grateful for James' diligence and care.

I went to this dealership to check options and review specs of different cars. I was very pleased to be assisted by a rep named James who was very patient with me and showed me several different options of vehicles in varying price ranges. He was knowledgeable of every vehicle we reviewed and respectful of me and my time. I would recommend asking for James if you need to learn anything about the car you might be buying.

I helped my daughter buy a used car last week. She found one she liked on the Baraboo Auto Sales website, so we went and looked at it. It was a nice Honda CRV. She bought it.
I was impressed with the sales guy, James. I never got the feeling he was pushing us: never had my b.s. sensor beep, and he was quite knowledgeable about what he was selling. But that's not the best part of our experience...
My daughter drove the car away, and about 50 miles from Baraboo she noticed a substantial vibration when accelerating between 30 and 40mph. I was fully prepared for BAS to say it wasn't their problem-the car was sold "as is". They didn't, though.
They said bring it back and we'll fix it at no charge to you.
It was a pleasant surprise. (I think they're "bring it back and we'll fix it" policy is 2-weeks from date of sale.
They did work on the car and now it runs like new.
For an small independent used car dealership, they did a "couldn't ask for better" job for us.

Almost 5 months after we bought our Audi from James, it starts acting up. Dash lights, misfires, shakes, etc. Almost 7 months after, and we get a quote from a shop for a new motor! No wonder we were never provided the CarFax, and none of our calls are returned.

I bought a car from James. The following day "low battery" appeared on the dash. A week later, the battery died and I reached out to James. The day of the purchase, he admitted to noticing that the car had the low battery showing when he moved the car, but decided not to tell me. He neglected to inform me when I asked him of any issues with the car before purchase. Baraboo auto sales refused to replace or help out in anyway with the battery, even with this knowledge of the issue prior to me purchasing it. James justified not letting me know that there were battery issues because he thought it would "go away" after the car was driven.
When I bought the car, James said that if anything goes wrong in the first two weeks, call him and he will take care of it. Well, I called him and he refused to help. He did not stick to his word and he was untrustworthy. In my opinion, I would not buy a car from this "dealership."

James worked with my wife and I to buy a Volvo XC60. The car is in outstanding condition and it was a great price. Working with James was excellent, he answered all our questions, helped us navigate the used car world, and was professional. He went the extra mile and stayed late to help us finish up the purchasing of the car. Our overall experience of Baraboo Auto Sales was a great one.

My mom and I stopped in here Thursday and test drove a few vehicles since we’re both looking for one. Forgot his name sorry ? .. was super nice, didn’t try to talk us into anything we didn’t want or try to talk down to us because we’re women.. I hate that. Super nice and respectful safe place for a girl to shop for a car. They did not have exactly what we were looking for as far as color/interior etc but will definitely keep checking back to see if something we want comes in. He wasn’t mad we were trying to narrow down exactly what we wanted or act like we wasted his time. Which we technically did….Prices were reasonable. Some cars are nicer than others but they’re used.. that’s the expectation. They let you take the car out by yourself to test drive and don’t ride with you… which I also hate. :-)

Bought a mini van from here had it for two weeks and it overheated. Took it back they serviced the vehicle for me after a month of them having it two weeks later the starter goes out. Sold me a lemon!
