Sent me two bad motors right out of the crate. only paid half the labor. had to replace a phaser and redo the timing on the second engine. still waiting on a check for labor reimbursement from 6 months ago. terrible experience. bought the engine from tristar through autozone. i will never buy anything from this company. I change out 100 engines every year between to shops.

Stay away from this company… you’re better off walking… bought a engine from this company and it was bad… sent me another one also bad… then they don’t want to pay to get another one installed… bad customer service. Then they want you to change a review… no way… you have monkeys trying to force a square peg threw a smaller round hole… will never work…

Purchased an engine a year ago and it’s been running great. Their 3 year, no fault warranty is worth the extra $100 though!

My boyfriend purchased a truck that just had a tri star rebuilt motor put in it. Seized up before it hit 20,000 miles. Tri star replaced it under warranty (still had to pay for labor) and that motor seized up before it hit 15,000 miles. When we contacted Tri star they informed us the warranty was only based on the first motor and had ended. Absolutely ridiculous that not only did they give us 2 garbage motors but that they wouldn’t even stand behind their work and warranty the 2nd one.

If i could give no stars i would. Quality control is non existent at this place i have put 2 engine in from them in a year. first one lasted a few thousand miles before exhaust valve failure. The replacement engine they sent the front cover holes where soaked in paint and spatter could not thread half the pulley bolts into it with out taping the threads. from the first start up it has had valvetrain noise. STAY FAR AWAY from this company. spend your money somewhere else. They want you to diagnose why are what has failed in their engines. They use cheapest parts possible.

Trans was supose to be at our shop for customer in 4 days After 2 weeks tristar says somthing in there system didnt let it get shipped out, then they ask us if we still want it with no warranty unless we upgrade about 2000 dollars more. This wasnt explained when we purchased transmission. The cust. Backed out and we lost the job. Very poor communication with tristar.

Engine in my 2011 ram 1500 failed at 142k... Had one local shop (who happens to own the local part house too) price me an ATK engine for over 5k plus 2k labor... He sure talked up his engine, but price seemed high. So I went to my go-to part house and they priced me the same engine for $1k less, but then he told me he'd rather sell me a TriStar, as they've had "problems" with ATK and they don't stand behind their warranty... Seems to be the general consensus among local mechanics and Google reviews too. So I ordered it, and had another guy do the install. 2 years and 30k miles later, so far, so good. Sure like the sound of "no fault warranty"... No idea if their warranty is any good, but haven't had any issues, and saved myself about $2000 bucks. So far, I'm happy.

Dont bother with tristar engines if you expect them to stand behind their warranty! We followed everything to the T new oil cooler and all with all documentation,pics and videos. Motor didn't even make it 2000 miles before it spun rod bearing. They claim debris in oil. only debris in oil was their spun bearing. I sold the customer on this engine because of their so called warranty. Now im out the labor and fluids and all for 2nd engine. i had to eat that because customer was told by me to go with tristar for the warranty. I stand behind my work unlike tristar. I will steer everyone i can away from these guys. in person or internet. Never did it cross my mind that they'd flat out deny warranty claim. I installed my 406 several years ago. I have had no issues with the build and have recommended Tri Star to several friends 2 of which purchased engines and are happy with their engine.

I went with these guys for a replacement motor for my obs Ford with a windsor engine.Waranty and price were good.I made it 400 miles before the first engine detonated.The warranty does not cover labor, so it cost me another $2000. After a couple years and several mechanics trying to make it run correctly, I was happy.At about 3800 miles the replacement engine needed to have the top end rebuilt.Out of warranty (date of original engine delivery, not replacement), my out of pocket would be another $3400.Decided to go back to a stock motor. I spent close to $10,000 in the end.I know sometimes people have bad luck, or get a bad engine, but, just be very careful of these engines. Sometimes the best deal is the most expensive. It was for me with tri star.

Very poor business ppl. Got a new reman engine from them. Engine didn't even make it 20 miles and engine failed trailered the truck down to a dealership and the dealership even said the engine failed to bad engine put together and tri star wouldn't warranty it when they said the engine had 3 years or 100k miles and it only had 20 miles on it. Tri star stuck us with a $4800 bill and the engine suppose to be under warranty. I will never use them again and I will not recommend tri star to anyone their a joke.Service: Engine repair
