“This hotel is absolutely gorgeous and such a great place for a Wisconsin weekend gateway! Me and my partner wanted a mini weekend gateway within the state and we didn’t have a particular place in mind to visit, we were open to anything. When browsing around some of the populated cities, we found the Oxbow hotel! I am so glad we found this place, it was truly the best weekend gateway we’ve ever had!The hotel itself and room were spectacular and super clean! I love the aesthetic of the whole place as well. The record player in the bedroom was such a unique piece to have! Love that you could check out 3 records at a time for the room to listen too. In addition, you can check out some bored games for the room as well.We read some other reviews before staying here, and some other reviews were negative. But after staying here the entire weekend, none of the negative reviews of this place make any sense because we had such an exceptional experience here! This is the place to stay! No doubt, we will be back for another weekend gateway in the future at some point. We had such a wonderful time! If you have doubts, or are debating on staying here or not, just do it! You won’t regret it!Rooms: The room is quiet and private, we didn’t hear anyone else the entire time we were there at no point during our entire stay. We know it was a booked weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised we didn’t hear other guests, so the walls are thick. There is a TV in the bedroom. The TV was in the living room and not the bedroom, which is fine. We just cuddled up on the futon. Wish the futon was a little bit more cushioned, but that did not ruin the experience! There were so much pillows on the futon, we just laid them out on the futon and laid on top of them! The TVs are not smart TVs (at least in our room, I assume that’s all the same in every room). We brought our laptops and an HDMI cord to be able to watch Netflix on the TV. That worked perfectly! We also played some card games and bored games on the coffee table as well a few times. That was super fun!Nearby activities: There’s an ice cream parlor right across the street, and a brunch place a block away, including several bars. Another 3-4 blocks away is a cool arcade bar called the Reboot social! The place has duckpin bowling, and plenty of arcade games and food! That was awesome to be able to have a date night at that place and be able to walk back to the hotel in 5-10 minutes from it. Also in the same distance from the hotel, there is an awesome steakhouse and seafood restaurant! Great location to have a date night and a romantic night back at the hotel!Walkability: The hotel is conveniently located in Downtown Eau Claire. Food, bars, ice cream, shops are all walking distance from the hotel. We didn’t need to move our car from the hotel parking lot all weekend because we were able to walk everywhere!Food & drinks: We also loved that there is a cocktail bar and restaurant attached to the hotel, which is priced very reasonably for what you get, and for some delicious foods and drinks! It was nice to be able to go and have a drink just 2 floors downstairs from our rooms. So cozy! There was music from a band playing the first night there, and we didn’t hear the band at all upstairs in our room so that was great!Noteworthy details: The staff members were phenomenal, and very smiley, and happy and informative. They smiled or greeted you when you walk in the place, and let you have privacy your privacy. But they were there if we had any questions! There is no daily housekeeping in the rooms (at least from when we stayed), which was totally fine with us, because we felt that it made our weekend more private and not get intruded on by hotel staff. But we know if we wanted some cleaning or bed made we could’ve just told the front desk. But regardless, it didn’t matter to us! We loved it!”

“We love most Candlewood’s for clean, comfortable and dog friendly policies. We have been to a few that weren’t what we are accustomed to and a few that weren’t dog friendly, but that is rare.”

“Wrong style of hotel for us. Looking for lower end with complementary breakfast, like a Holiday Express. Very expensive separate restaurant with very few food options. Excellent server and very willing to please, however the menu was too limiting. Everything was way overpriced for our simple needs.Food & drinks: Got to the hotel too late and there were no food options. Restaurant closed at 8:00 pm. Had to go to a local gas station for food. God bless Kwik Trip.Noteworthy details: The location is off the beaten path, even GPS had a difficult time locating and directing us to the hotel.”

“The staff are so kind, friendly and attentive to my needs. The breakfast choices were many and very tasty. The adjoining Wissota Chop House has a relaxing atmosphere with a great staff, comfortable bar stools, large TV and great drinks. The value of this stay was well worth the cost. I’d highly recommend this hotel to others.”

“My husband, and I were looking for a cheap place to go on a mini vacation. I've been to ALOT of motels over the years, and I've stayed in many motel 6's. (due to our love of travel.) We had a couple minor issues, which the staff quickly addressed. It was quiet. The manager, and house keepers were very kind, hard working, and worked well together. The price was great for us. We were right in town. We were able to go to a few restraunts, and shop. I was shocked how compassionate, and friendly all of the staff were. All in all what you expect from a cheap hotel. You get what you pay for. What we payed for, it was quite nice. They have been working on updating the rooms, the flooring, and the furniture which I can appreciate. We had nice conversations with the staff. We will come back in the future.”
