The service was great, the food was excellent and the price was amazing. The owner was very friendly and even came out to check on us to make sure we didn't need anything. This is a great family oriented restaurant!

The food was amazing, fresh and the price was perfect. The owner and his staff were so friendly and checked on us all night. Over the top amazing customer service. He even took our kids to check out the pigs on the farm. We will 100% go back on our next trip. I can't recommend this spot enough!

We weren't sure what to expect, but we decided to give it a try after reading several positive reviews. We were so glad we did. It's hard to imagine having a better experience. Many restaurants claim to be farm to table, but Sophie's Serendipity takes it to another level. All of the food served at Sophie's is sourced from their very own farm. The owner, Mark, takes a lot of pride in his cooking and it shows. We went with a group of 11 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The most notable items included the fillet mignon, lamb chops, and Nic's Trio (steak, shrimp, scallops). For an appetizer, we ordered the cheese sampler which I would highly recommend. After dinner, Mark invited our kids outside to watch him feed the pigs and they loved it. Our first visit to Sophie's was awesome. We will definitely be back. If you're looking for dinner in Terra Alta, look no further.

Among the best lamb chops I have ever eaten-- perfectly seasoned, medium rare As requested. Open airy room, simply furnished, with a large fireplace on the far wall. Meat is king here, no surprise since the farmer/ owner/chef selects seasonal offerings from his livestock . Can't get fresher than that. The side salad was unremarkable but fresh, and although the baked potato could have used some more time in a hot oven, the generous three-chop entree was so filling I couldn't do the sides Justice. Wine is a very generous pour and the folks are lovely. I'll be back to try the fish !

This spot is nestled wayyyy out there on a farm, and definitely gives you a pretty rural vibe. While the aesthetics were comfortable and spacious, the service, and food was just okay. We came on a Sunday night, and apparently whoever came that Friday and Saturday wiped them out, so pretty much half their menu was exhausted and there was only one server to serve the entire place. There weren't a ton of us there that night, maybe about 6 tables worth. Whenever I needed a glass refilled, silverware, or anything for the table really, I had to constantly get up and walk over to the waitress at the bar. I ordered a steak and potato and asked for A-1 sauce to go with it. The waiter brought me an empty bottle of A-1 sauce and said "I think there may be a little bit left in there?". Sure enough, there was none left, and when I looked at him questioning if they had another bottle, he just smiled and shrugged and walked away. The steak was okay, but definitely could have used the A-1 sauce for more flavor. Unfortunately, it wasn't good enough on it's own not to need the sauce. All in all, though the people were nice, I wouldn't see myself driving all the way back here for what was really a pretty sub par experience. Maybe it's better when they are actually fully stocked, but I doubt I'll be back here again.

I went here with a big group after getting a local recommendation, and it was perfect and authentic. We had a warm welcome and loved the family farm atmosphere. I had the New York Strip, which was great. My buddy got the filet, and it looked incredible as well. My steak came with some fresh green beans. Also, they had wines available so I added a cabernet. Highly recommend because it's a great experience.

Before I go any further, I will state that this is the best restaurant I have found in Preston County. The meat is raised about 20 yards from your table. They pride themselves on their food and the fact that everything they can make in house, they do. The New York strip was absolute medium rare perfection. Red from edge to edge with a fresh farm raised flavor. You can taste the difference. Now for the critique. The baked potato was about a minute away from perfection. It was a little crispy and cool in the center. My friends lamb chops were also just a minute from being perfect. He said they had great flavor and were a real treat to have. All the other food that passed by us looked incredible. I'm told we missed a real treat because they were out of stuffed banana peppers. I will definitely be coming back here. This is the restaurant you take folks towhen you want to impress them. No

I wish I could give this restaurant 50 stars! This establishment is described as farm to table, and it certainly is. The restaurant is attached to the barn. The owner was very cool, he came out and talked with us, and kind of just fixed whatever we wanted. We were vacationing in Terra Alta for the weekend, and had seen flyers for their menu. I asked if they had oysters, which wasn't listed, and they had just gotten them in. And they were the best oysters I ever had in my life. They have different things at different times, so don't be afraid to ask. I also ordered the crab cakes and I loved them. Our server was super nice and we enjoyed talking with her, too. This place was, well, it was real. Down to Earth, full of country charm, but the real kind - Not manufactured. We were able to get our motorcycles in and out of the parking area - it's a little rough, but not bad at all. I recommend going out of your way, if you're passing through anywhere in the area, to have this dining experience.

Really enjoyed my breakfast at Sophie's Serendipity. Plentiful coffee, farm fresh scrambled eggs, with ham and hashbrowns hit the spot. Since I also wanted to try the buckwheat pancakes, the server brought two on the side for just a few bucks more. I'll be going back, both for breakfast and for dinner, which is now being offered as well.
