My wife and I just got back from a camping trip here with another couple were friends with and we all absolutely loved it. It was very beautiful this time of year with the leaves changing an the reflections on the lake especially at sunset. But for me personally it was catching catfish all day Saturday that made the trip great lol I honestly didn't think I'd do that great because it was getting down in the low 30s at night but I surprisingly done better than I've personally done at in other lake I've fished at so I'll definitely be camping here again real soon we stayed it the tents sites that are right on the water. If your camping with someone site 4 and 5 are the best they're pretty much connected like one big site but we didn't know till after we got there we had 3 an 4 which are probably the 2 that are farthest apart lol but we made it work so I hope this helps someone. Sites 1 2 an 3 would be best for privacy if you're camping alone theirs alot more space in between those 3 but keep in mind they're all over a hill not a big one but id say 30 to 50 feet depending on the site so if you have any trouble walking or anything these may not be the best choice for you. The bathhouse I was using was spotless anytime I was there I never even seen a scrap of paper in the floor very clean an tidy and always plenty of toilet paper. I would definitely recommend staying here especially if your into cat fishing.
Toilets: Very clean and tidy!
Dog-friendliness: Just about everyone there had there dogs with them including the 3 we have. Just be courteous and pick up after them.

Stayed here Labor Day Weekend. Got the weekend getaway for my girlfriend’s birthday. The total cost to stay was $450 for ONE night. I was quoted $250 to begin with on the phone. The room was outdated and dingy. The bottle of wine we were supposed to get never came. The boats looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. I could have booked a WAY better weekend at SnowShoe. Save your money! RIP OFF

I had a great time a the resort. Special thank you to Bill, who usually works at the Golf course but was assisting with departure after the holiday weekend. He was very supportive when I dealt with a very rude person while loading the car.

A true WV treasure!
From the moment you walk in the lobby you’re warmly greeted by the staff.
When we arrived there was a line of people but the front desk staff made it a point to welcome each guest and made us feel like this was not just a place to stay but an experience!
The resort is spacious, clean, and very much feels like a luxury lodge you find out west.
We enjoyed the evening fire pit, the amazing night sky, and dinner at the resort.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. The in room coffee and beverage tray was above average. The bathroom is large and the room has a ton of storage which is great if you’re traveling with a family.
Now, breakfast!!! AMAZING!!! Everyone knows hotel coffee stinks. You really have to be at a 5 star luxury hotel to get good coffee and Stonewall you delivered!!! The buffet is full of delicious food from the soufflé, fresh whipped toppings for your pancakes, waffles, etc. The cinnamon roll casserole OMG insanely GOOD! So many delicious options. You can skip lunch because you’ll spend your whole morning at this buffet!
We didn’t get to enjoy all the activities this resort offers on this trip but we will be back!
The resort is known for golf, boating, fishing, sxs, and hiking! We can’t wait to get back and fully enjoy this WV treasure!

The resort is beautiful. Located at the lake. There’s boats, fishing, canoes that you could rent. Very dog friendly.
We stayed at lodge. Beautiful rooms very clean, nice white towels. The view from my window was absolutely gorgeous, looking at the lake. Restaurant has a beautiful setting delicious food. The breakfast was so good too.
Dog-friendliness: We were told at the gate that they are dog friendly. And that was really nice because my dog started barking as soon she saw person coming towards my car. At check in my dog received welcome gift/very nice touch!

Motel experience at best. We travel all over to resorts, spas, and golf properties. We are currently staying for our tenth anniversary at this property and the expectations of the reviews have sadly not been met. I’ve tried to stay positive considering the occasion however each experience continues to disappoint. We arrived before check in yesterday to get a round of early morning golf at their Arnold Palmer course. They were able to hold our luggage though there was no valet in site. Front desk refused to call or text when room would be ready nor even take in consideration to take our name or give any education on the property. Arriving at the golf course we very confused on where and what to do. After finally walking all the way around the building to the bottom, we were finally greeted in a dusty golf shop to which we had to wait for them to fix a computer issue. We were told to check outside to which we were given a cart with no other instructions. We finally spoke to a friendly staff member who advised that we were in the cart line and would go in order to the course. (Please keep in mind there were two other customer carts just as confused as we were and figured it out together with us). The course is in need of serious repair. Based on the no rain, it has not been maintained and was hard, dry, and pretty much dead all over. The carts would have been nice with GPS and tracking if we didn’t have to push the buttons 3 times for each feature to use. Overall, I’m certain it was a beautiful course when Arnold Palmer first designed it but sadly no TLC has been given and would not recommend as special trip to play at this course. By the time we finished golfing, it was regular check in time so we did this and again no friendly suggestions or education on the resort. Bellman was nice and delivered our luggage to our dated and again not maintained sleeping room. Now I have also worked at resorts so I understand limitations on housekeeping to turn a room however it was not good and the company has not taken the time to replace unclean items in the room. For example, other people hair on blankets, marking of cups and whatever else on bathroom counters, spots on the mirrors, cobwebs in all of the corners and filthy stains on the curtains. Are you telling me they can’t at least replace the curtains?! Now the hair again I get it not all comes off in wash so I just picked it off. Maybe they missed the mirror spots, but the sink and curtains were definitely gross. This is not the service that we paid for- which is a clean and sanitized room to rest in. From pure exhaustion and aggravation of maybe having to move our luggage, we just cleaned the room ourselves and took a nap. Dinner did not get better. Three times asking for water from a waitress who was friendly but very forgettable led to a two hour hostage situation of consuming the rest of our evening. The staff could not find the manager on duty so advised they would comp the meal and tried to give us an anniversary dessert in which we refused. It wasn’t the meal or the price but the time that was lost that upset us more than anything. We discovered that they had a spa on property that evening however we were told by front desk that only spa could do reservations and was closed until the next day. When I called at 9am, I was told the Swedish couple massage service that we wanted from their menu could not be accommodated so now here I am having to write this Karen review in which I was trying really hard not to do, but this experience could not have gone completely opposite of what we had hoped for. We may not even continue this stay and just leave today considering it is only two hours away from our home.

Very nice resort, but drinks are pricey. $17 for an IPA and they wanted a tip. Also, they only have 5 tent camping sites. They are nice sites but they really could use more.

Always clean, always comfortable, and always pleasant. They must not have much employee turnover over as I see the same welcoming faces year after year.

The campground is a great value. You can buy a day pass to use the swimming pool at the lodge, which has an indoor and an outdoor hot tub. The lake has good fishing and lots of coves and straight aways for boating. The staff is courteous, helpful, and keep the whole place clean.

Get a Fishing License, WV Fish and Game Officers patrol the resort hungry to issue citations. They will silently sneak up on you.

In what world would someone willingly pay $220 to stay at this “resort” . I guess you can attach resort to anything these days. Bathrooms were dark and my room and another room I had both had black in the grout of the tile. There was no hot water in the morning. The food prices were 50-70 for steak . For an extra $40 a night I could have been at the greenbrier . Also , the check in lady was in a mood over a situation that happened before we walked in. If you feel like staying in a best western on a big pond for $220 a night is a good deal , then this “resort” is for you
