I just LOVE a stop at Modern Homestead! The owners are lovely to meet and so knowledgeable about the plants they offer for sale. The property is always a site for the senses with beautiful and seasonal plants and decor, a cafe', great music and weekend suppers that are relaxing and delicious! A visit at Christmas is a MUST! Thank you for creating such a delightful place to visit!

Such a wonderful selection of beautiful, healthy plants! Bedding plants, succulents in a variety of colors, impatients, Begonias, fruit trees, and herbs. A family owned business, too! Lucas is so knowledgeable about plants and landscaping. I drive an hour to get to choose plants from his greenhouse ♥️

Modern Homestead consistently has the best selection of bedding plants, both in terms of plant health and selection. Many old standbys, as well as some new beauties I've not seen before -- excited to try them! Highly recommended.

This place is awesome. Cool vibes you only get in other small cities - happy to have this so close to morgantown. Great selection of plants and fruit bearing trees/bushes and the cafe had such a nice quaint feel to it. Hats off to the owners for bringing a little more life to this side of the world!

This place is a crackhouse for plant lovers lol. Lucas has curated this nursery in the most astonishing way. I see plants here I only read about.The cafe on weekends is also nice, as are the set dinners. I live north of Pittsburgh and I love coming down here. Trellis is a wonderful chef. We celebrated my son's birthday here. The shop inside is really nice too...again incredibly curated. Trellis and Lucas are artists.And...they are the nicest people in the world!Take your bike to Deckers Creek trail on a weekend and stop by the cafe for lunch on the porch! That's how I found this gem.

This is a unique place for Preston County, but it really wasn't worth the drive. The service was really slow, some of that was anticipated because of the 3-courses, but it was easily 20 minutes or more between the courses. The dessert was supposed to come with coffee but it took over 15 minutes for the coffee to come. The seats are cold, hard, metal chairs without much a back. The wait between courses would have been better if the chairs had been comfortable to sit in. Both my husband and I were anxious to leave because the seating was so uncomfortable. The salad was really good and presented well, neither my husband or I liked our main courses, and the dessert was wonderful. I wish the restaurant well because it is a good idea, but it isn't for us.

Recently booked the Holiday dinner for 5. Truly the best meal I've had in ages and well worth the drive and money! Everything was top notch from the moment we arrived, friendly staff, beautiful and festive atmosphere. The 5 course meal started with an impressive charcuterie board to share, homemade rolls, followed by the most delicious squash bisque. The entree and sides were impressive and the dessert sublime. The atmosphere was delightful, background music soothing but not intrusive. Trellis and staff truly make you feel welcome. His devotion to presenting an impressive experience is an accomplished goal!

It was a rainy night but the atmosphere at Modern Homestead was warm and inviting. This is a cozy intimate place with delicious food and great service. The price is very reasonable for what you get. I always recommend this place to everyone.
