I have stayed a few nights at this property over the last three years. I am not as impressed as I initially was.
Room 116
Pros; clean
Cons;
Sink and tub take forever to drain.
Floor lamp beside the bed, no bulb.
One outlet in the bedroom to charge devices.
This is the 21st century. They make lamps and other devices with AC outlets and USB charging ports. People travel, hence stay in motel rooms, with phones, iPads, computers, etc. Two people per room and one outlet doesn’t cut it.
AC unit does not have a fan constant on mode. Therefore you get to listen to the unit cycle on and off all night.
Road noise can be an issue.
Price has slowly creeped up to be equal to, or higher in some cases, than the big name chain hotels.
I think I will do some research before staying here again.

Good price for a modest room, nothing fancy but clean. Great place to sleep for a night when on the road! Staff woke up and got us a room with a smile at 3am.

From the street this place appears to be a traditional old time type of motel, which I guess it is. However, the rooms are very clean and include a microwave and nice size fridge. The rooms have Roku TV with over 100 channels and access to streaming networks if you have an account. The only downside I found were the mattresses which were not very firm at all. The office staff person was very friendly and accommodating.

Cute and welcoming little motel. Conveniently near the interstate and quick check in. It's not fancy but clean and accommodating! Thank you for all you do!

I stayed 2 nights at the Turnpike Motel and was extremely impressed! For a small little motel, the service and accomodations are 5 star! Rooms were really clean, with updated decor. The cleaning staff has ab eye for detail! Everything needed for a great visit to the area without a shock to the bank account! I would definitely recommend this motel and won't hesitate staying here again if needed!

For a low budget place it was great… a good tv, comfortable bed (although bring your own pillow if you are fussy), separate switches in the bathroom for the light and the fan, important if you tend to get up in the night and don’t want to wake your partner. The room also had a mini fridge and coffeemaker and a microwave. Heating unit worked well and QUIETLY! Really nice clean diner just steps away called Dolly’s Diner.

Room was very clean and recently renovated. The front desk lady was very nice and helpful. Liked the proximity to Dolly’s Diner and Captain D’s Seafood. Both restaurants were great. No noise at night even being next to a busy road. Great value!

Too bare bones. No hair dryer, no breakfast and no staff at night or early in the morning when checking out. Was asked for $20.00 cash deposit for dog. Was told I would get the $20.00 back in the morning after she checked the room. Still no one at front desk to provide refund when I left. Not pet friendly. Expedia # 72664841744474

It's now a little after 11pm and I cannot sleep. Why? The lady at the front desk is talking and cussing so loudly, I can't sleep. You need to be more respectful of your guests.

Traveling as much as we do and always staying in common franchise motels it's easy to overlook the small independent places. It was good to find this very nice and reasonably priced gem along the way. Nothing fancy here, but if you need to rest and shower, Turnpike Motel may be your best choice.

We stayed 3 nights. After reading the reviews for some of the other local chain hotels I took a chance, booked our first motel stay, and saved myself a lot of money. Everyone seemed shocked we stayed there but it was fine. Area seemed quiet for being off a busy road and not a lot of foot traffic. We didn’t need a swimming pool and with the money we saved we could eat a nice breakfast at Dollys Diner and still save money. Glad I kept my money local and stayed here. The woman that checked us in was sweet. Even let us check in a little early. The room was clean. No signs of bugs, no weird smells, etc. The whole motel has been renovated. TV worked and we were able to watch some football in passing. We had 1 queen bed. It did feel a little dated. We always travel with our own pillows and I’m glad we did. Theirs was small but we could have asked for more. House keeping girls were friendly. Room had mini fridge with freezer, microwave and coffee pot. AC worked ok. Motel is down the road from Walmart and really a quick drive or even walk to some local restaurants. This will be our new go-to spot when we are in town.
