She's a very nice woman as a person but not vigilant in her work at all. I came in for a perm that had gone very wrong due to miscommunication (she thought I meant one thing when I meant another so for your sake bring a specific picture of exactly what you want and don't bring her any new aged styles) but what was not miscommunication was the following: she didn't ask where I part my hair therefore when she was trimming she assumed that I keep my bangs across my forehead and cut them evenly rather than to the side and stacked where I've had it for years!! She decided to wait until after the perm to do the trimming which is fine but then she counteracted the trimming by combining my hair from top to bottom with a pick rapidly. For those that don't know, the LAST thing you do with newly permed hair is comb from top to bottom because it causes more dead ends, stress, and breakage on the hair! You always work out the knots in the bottom with detangler gently to prevent more damage and then work your way up. No joke look it up yourself. I haven't had a perm in years and I still remember that lesson. Also, she didn't take the time to think about where she was placing the curlers so I literally ended up getting and old lady/poodle hair do. Those aren't something you just slap in and hope it turns out ok. So she has now left me with bowl cut bangs and worse dead ends than I started with. I cried historically! When she decided to offer to “fix it†we went ahead and started to straighten it back out once I saw what was going on the the mirror. I am aware that perms need time to relax but what I saw and what I asked for definitely were not the same! “Wide thick loose elegant curls aka lose wave curls†do not mean tight/kinked poodle hair with bangs bent up from the freakin 80s. As she was trying to relax my now brittle and damaged hair she began to tell me she was sorry and I apologized all the same but then she proceeded to tell me that my expectations were simply unrealistic and the style I was expecting was done with a curling wand, not a perm. Ok sweet-cheeks, I have witnessed multiple young women in my generation with the exact same perm I had as expectations. Also, when I left I called multiple salons to ask questions until I found one that could bring me in to assess the damage clear in Parkersburg. The woman saw the remains of what had happened, looked at my expectations and immediately stated that Donna had done the whole thing wrong and that what I was asking for is a real style but she wouldn't recommend me trying to fix my now fried and colored drained hair for at least six weeks. I came to her in confidence because my wedding is in less than a month and she has officially destroyed any chance of me being able to have the one thing I wanted which was fixed m, waved hair so I only had to put in some product, style it quickly and move on with my big day. Not to mention it's in Italy so guess who is going to be getting many photos taken in her mistake!? Yep, that'd be me! So no she didn't make me pay for it financially but she sure got me to pay for it in other ways. I won't recommend any friends. Make sure that you stop her before she starts with the sizers to tell her how you part and do your hair cause she will not ask. And if she says your style is “unrealistic†please walk out and go see a more up to date professional about the matter to be sure because she doesn't have a clue.
