We stayed in the honeymoon suite and is in no way worth the $$. The shower wouldn't drain and the whirlpool water was brown like it came from straight from the mighty Ohio River. We came for the hot and pool and was never informed it has been closed for weeks. The front desk man was not pleasant person at all. Don't waste your hard earned money here.

It could of been updated more n cleaner rooms but I'm ocd so guess that wouldn't matter right cause nothing is good enough for people that have ocd .Rooms: Needed updated n cleanerWalkability: U can walk to a gas station n mcdonalds there is a couple other walking distance to other storesFood & drinks: What about the food n drinks

The owner responses on these reviews are actually COMICAL. My husband Chris wrote the last review about our stay this past weekend and the owner made up a whole story about a guy and his wife Courtney being local and stay all the time?? That was not us, must’ve been another couple with an issue this past weekend. We were supposed to be staying two nights, only stayed one night and our biggest regret is not checking out the second we walked in the room. Carpets turn your socks black because they are in fact filthy even though the owner claims to clean them once a month. Mold in multiple places in the room and bathroom. Recliner is filthy with stains, mattresses that were “900 dollars” are as old as the carpet and have various stains that look like blood. Our son did in fact wake up with bug bites going up one arm. iPhone pictures these days tell you exactly what time and place a photo was taken so we do have photos. We did in fact go down the street to the holiday inn after our one night here, it was worth the extra money for a safe and sanitary stay. I understand the owner has to do certain things to keep the rates low, but it should not be at the risk of peoples health!

I know that there so a lot of rules and regulations when it comes to the hospitality industry, this hotel however seems to completely disregard every single one of them. For starters there’s about a dozen outdated old hvac units sitting right outside the main door. Which i believe to be a fire hazard since you have to go around them. The whole hotel has old outdated carpet which hasn’t been cleaned since I’ve been alive. The bath tub has mold. The ceilings have mold. The trim around the a/c has mold. My son woke up with bites all over his arm from bed bugs. Then upon further investigation there was bed bugs and mold on the box spring. The beds are very uncomfortable. The list of problems is endless. If you are on a budget and are up to date on your tetanus shot then go for it. But other than that. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HAZARDOUS PLACE!!!!!!I have photos with time stamps for proof. I will happily email anyone asking for them. It’s amazing they can pass health code inspections

I came in town for my Dads funeral and had made reservations. Place was nicer online. Walked in and was hit with a strong odor. Like a cover up cleaner smell. Checked in and the lady was nice. Went to our room, before bringing anything in, and it smelled like stale cigarettes that had been covered up with spray. The sheets were dirty, so we went back and told the front desk to let them know and see if we could have a non smoking room. She sent a guy to change them and said the room was a non smoking room. I asked if we could just have a refund and the lady told us it was up to Expedia. So we said ok and we left to get food to see if we could give them a chance to fix things. Came back and checked, upon lifting the top blanket up I noticed the mattress cover aka bedbug cover was ripped with brown spots that looked like blood, the sheets were dirty with yellow and brown stains and tucked under the box spring with a fuzzy blanket and bed skirt with white stains on them. At this point we were over it. The bed was disgusting and the tub had a cigarette burn on it. It smelled and the chair in room smelled horrible. So we went back to the front telling the guy that was now there that we weren't staying and why. He said ok. Now we are getting the run around from them saying we can't have a refund. Expedia is willing to give us a refund. THEY are not because Expedia will still charge them if they refund us. I dont care! Not my problem! We didn't stay and I want my money back! We went up the road and paid not even $50 more and the place was amazing! I shouldn't have to pay $117 for somewhere I never stayed that isn't up to code.

It was our family’s second time staying at this hotel. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room exceeded our expectations. We will definitely stay here again when visiting friends in the area.

Great location, next to a small plaza, so easy access to amenities. But the room itself was kinda poor. The bathroom light had a short and flickered and holes in the blankets. The staff was nice enough, but the dollar general breakfast was disappointing. Also disappointing was the pool being closed. Overall, ok place to take a rest. No bugs or anything super gross.

I will not recommend hidden charges they charge a 100 dollars and hold it for 48 hours what a scam no one at the desk said anything and u wake up to a 200 room no way is it worth it never again I will call my bank and despute the charge and they will get nothing for this b.s.

Hotel needs a major deep clean. Has good bones and a good location but all of the rooms and halls need to be re-done, and updated. Breakfast isn't much, best to just offer coffee.

I've stayed at the New Martinsville Inn on numerous occasions over the past few years. We are from the area so when I go "back home" to visit this was our go to place. It has always been reasonably priced, and very accommodating. This visit I'm sorry to say was not any of that. First let me say the young lady that took my reservation on the phone and was there the day we arrived was very friendly and was able to get us into our room at noon instead of 3pm. She and her mother were there the day we arrived. The mother came out first with a cell phone in hand, looked at me over her glasses and rudely said "can I help you" .. as if I was bothering her. Fast forward to the room.. the floor was very sticky and dirty and I couldnt take my shoes off, the lights between the bed didnt work (no reading) and the airconditioning was poor at best ( it was 90 degrees that day so maybe that is why ) .. but, the part that was most disappointing to us (myself and 2 grandchildren) was when we came home from the movies ready to swim the pool had been closed by Wetzel County Health Dept!!! That is the main reason we stay there is for the pool!!!! so... the next day when checking out, the older lady ( the mother) was sitting on the couch on her cell phone again and started to tell me about her facebook post about rattle snakes in the area.. she was taking my key and asked (without making eye contact) how my stay was... when I told her (very politely) she didn't even acknowledge that I had said anything!!! just handed me my receipt and told me to sign.. I signed and I knew that was the last reciept I would ever sign at the New Martinsville Inn ..

Very nice property with excellent location to restaurants as well as walks along the Ohio river. Indoor pool with hot tub looked very nice but we didn’t get the chance to use it. Service was friendly, prompt and efficient. I would definitely stay again.

I have been planning to come to West Virginia for some time now and I am so glad that I was able to come and enjoy West Virginian hospitality and service. I read the reviews and I feel some people just have a nag to complain. I had a great time at the hotel! Sally Loy checked us in Thursday night into our suite and the suite was awesome! I have stayed at many hotels around the world and every hotel room offers different kinds of amenities. In this suite, the room was large. We had a very nice large bathroom, a large kitchenette, a very roomy dining area and seating area, and a nice big jacuzzi. The best part was after driving down from Canada, we were quite thirsty, and our fridge was full of drinks. These drinks are not an extra charge-they come free with the room. We were also a bit hungry, and it was late to find food, so the hotel provided us with some frozen pizza as well. They went out of their way because they believe that the happiness of customers outweighs everything.I stayed at a Hilton in Canada and I did not get housekeeping every day because they had limited service. New Martinsville Inn cleaned my room every day without any request. The room offers a lot of toiletries and in room amenities to make a relaxing comfortable stay. We could even sit at the balcony above the warm indoor pool and enjoy a nice cup of coffee too with popcorn as well. We slept on a King size bed, and we were treated like Kings. We had a nice continental breakfast with danish, donuts, cereal and coffee to help us every morning. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Laurie checked us out and Jesse us out throughout the weekend for any needs we had. Thanks again-Dr. Bhatti

My brother Was over charged on his debit card and maxed it out and the manager wouldn't even come in and make it right until 11: pm that night . He was from out of state and had no money for his 4 day stay and had to ask family for help. Poor management and wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. His checking account won't be credited back for up to 2 or 3 days.. didn't even try to accommodate them in any way..

Went for a night away and not happy with our room.. Hot tub/ jacuzzi didn't work ( the reason we went for). Plus it was so dirty. carpet needs cleaned.. 2 stars because the front desk Casey was WONDERFUL did everything she could to help us but it was out of her control.. Just sad $139 a night for a room and didnt get to stay because of it being so dirty.. Just disappointed..

Awful!!! This place had bugs in the bed, wasn't clean, and the decor was out of the 70's!!!The following is in response to my original post.I never asked for new sheets. I think you have me confused with a different customerI don't post reviews hardly ever btw. Only for exceptionally good or poor service. Get your stuff together as you obviously aren't organized or managed well!!! You can be upset with my review all you want, it still doesn't change the fact that it was dead accurate.
