The Martinsburg VA Medical Center is great for treating all of your health care needs. I've not once had a bad experience there.

Veterans Affairs medical center often get a bad rap, and granted some have well earned, however this is not the case with the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center. My first visit here for treatment was noteworthy. I was being seen by the eye clinic as a follow from the Columbus, Ohio clinic as I relocated from Ohio to the service area for Martinsburg. I arrived about 20 minutes early which is customary for me The front desk personnel were extremely helpful in guiding me to where I needed to be. The eye clinic staff was delightful and attentive even though I needed to have my eyes dialiated My time with the eye doctor was great, with him doing a referral to a eye doctor closer to where I stay to preclude the distance I had to travel. All in all, a five star rating for Martinsburg VA.

This VA has gone through a lot of changes since we started using their services. The former Director, Mr. Cook left, and the new guy seems to hide away on the 6th floor. The Women's Clinic seems pretty good, but stopped offering after hours appointments, which were convenient. The Mental Health clinic appears to have problems with turnover, and doesn't offer any after hour appointments or groups anymore. Where we came from, they were starting to offer weekend appointments for working Veterans, that's service! We're hoping things improve, but are considering other options if we don't see signs of improvement soon. We're growing tired of all words and no action.

Unfortunately, they did not have the appropriate phone charger in stock. But, the employee was incredibly helpful on trying to solve my problem.

Reasonable prices and selection..plus no sales tax. Just wish the VCS website would offer VA themed merchandise.

I have gone to the Martinsburg VA several time. All the employees and volunteers have been dedicated to their mission, hard-working, compassionate and caring. After I walked into the ER late one night with a retinal tear, I was immediately seen. When the ER decided I would be better treated at the Eye Clinic the put me in a wheelchair and brought me to where I needed to go. I was seen immediately seen and shortly later my retina was repaired. Another time I went to the ER after a cutting wheel on a grinder jolted out of my hand and cut me deep in the abdomen, I was again seen immediately. The doctor decided that the wound need no stiches so they washed off the wound and bandaged it. I was out in less than thirty minutes. I have several times needed to use the clinics. If I came in looking lost someone would always ask to help and then bring me to where I needed to be. Once that someone was Mr. Cooke, the hospital director. How impressive that a man as busy as Mr. Cooke could drop what he is doing to bring me to where I needed to go. Even when I asked for directions someone would always bring to the appropriate clinic. The care I received at the Martinsburg VA was always second to none. I can not ask for more.

Extremely racist, and unprofessional. I walked into this hospital 4 days in a row to visit a sick grandfather, and everyday until today Sun Aug 4th, 2019- My credentials for my therapy animal were accepted. I was told by Officer Preston, who barely assisted me, and rushed my concerns during a snack break. My credentials which were issued via a government agency, were not even checked. I was told by Officer Preston that my Id card was fake for my pet- without even verifying it? Tell me thats not racism. I have a 5lb Toy Maltese, who is trained to do nothing but assist me emotionally. I asked for the rules in writing only to be told, they don't exist. Nurse Melissa on the 4th floor, as well as Nurse Lugo Roman both never verified if my credential were indeed valid. I was asked to leave premises because I became disorderly by Officer Preston solely because I asked can he verify my credentials so that I could return to see my sick grandfather- which is why im here, and the focus is being forgotten. I am owed an apology, and I feel the entire staff should undergo training with regards to therapy and support animals. Online for the VA hospital states that therapy, service, and emotional animals ARE accepted with proper credentials, and no personal pets allowed. This is another instance in which racism is the sole reason for me not to be assisted. Everyone brushed me away, and lied to me indicating my Id for my animal was not even real without validating. Protocol should be atleast call, search the web, do something MORE THAN ask me to leave solely because of your personal hatred for a certain people of color. Makes no sense at all for you to say an animal is not therapy related when you did no research. Such a sad an awful place, I hope this message reaches who it needs to reach.

The Cat5 rehab had been so watered down it's a shame. AA and NA are not mandatory, so 99% of the patients don't go. Most play bingo, sleep or smoke all day. There is little rehab to speak of. Most vets are here to try to get service connected disability checks. They claim to be homeless and unable to work, but they are all driving $60,000 Cadilacs. Luckily they can afford to eat in the pay cafeteria. The free food is garbage. hospital care is pretty good, but if you really need rehab, go somewhere like Edgehill in Winchester, where they are serious. Only $3200 for 30 days. Good luck!

dr. peter vu ignores his patients. my husband may be young, but who is he to say that he has no real pain! i'm changing his dr. as soon as his appointment is done! i'm literally sitting here and hearing him tell my husband that his medicine is worthless and that he needs only physical therapy. my husband did physical therapy for years prior to receiving medication that should have been given to him in the first place! if he had been given medication from the beginning instead of mental meds "physical therapy " then he would probably have been doing a hell of a lot better! do not use this dr.! do not let the va refer you to him! i feel like knocking him in his joints and then telling him that it's all in his head and to use meditation to heal himself!

I recently visited the Martinsburg VA and was only inquiring. I was treated with respect by everyone I encountered I left there with VA benefits and an appointment for my first check up. I was also very pleased to see A picture of President Trump and the VA secretary posted in the lobby.I would like to point out Rachel Zimmerman the admissions person who I dealt with she was compassionate and understanding a true credit to the VA!
