Giving a star seems too nice as is…..stepped in to use the store bathroom with my friend after traveling thru WV and the manager and store clerk not looked at each other beforehand like do we answer true or false with a loooong pause. Finally responding a hard no with no explanation….I would be satisfied with an out of order. Then we decided to shop the store for a few items, coffee snacks, the manager comes around and starts following us and I’m thinking she’s gonna tell us oh you guy are shopping you can go ahead and use the bathroom, boy was I wrong. She tells my friend that she needs to put her bag upfront because her bag is 8x10 and we could be stealing. Not professional whatsoever!!!! She proceeds to continue her rant on how it’s store policy (no sign or paperwork) and we decide to put our items back and leave!!! I’m simply visiting the area and outside and they were rude as anything….no wonder why no one shops there!!!! Anyone visiting stay away from this store!!! It’s not worth it

I was in this store this morning with my fully trained Service dog.The Manager, Misti asked me for my papers on my dog. She tried to be as nice as possible while asking for them and when I told her that it was illegal for her to ask for them, she stated that she needed the papers for her records. She said she could lose her job if the health department came in and saw me and my service dog there. She then went on to say that there were several people who have provided her with paperwork for companion animals, and that it was obvious my dog was a service dog, but she still would want papers to protect herselfI got home and called the Customer support line and was left on hold for an hour and a half before giving up and resorting to this customer review.Family Dollar needs to train their personnel better. There are no documents that are recognized by the ADA. But many unscrupulous websites continue to offer such in order to confuse the public as to what the laws are. Companion animals are not service dogs and should not be permitted the same access as a highly trained service dog who is trained to perform a specific task.It is illegal to ask for documentation for a service dog. It is illegal to ask the handler about their disability, and it is illegal to deny access to a service dog. This is not saying a business or its entities do not have rights. If a dog is out of control, not housebroken, or otherwise causing a disruption, and the owner does not correct this behavior, management is perfectly within their rights to ask the team to leave. If management is convinced the dog is not a service dog, they are permitted to file in court where the handler will then have to prove the dog is in actuality a service dog. If it is proven that the dog is not a service dog, the handler can suffer serious penalties. The manager was not risking her job by allowing me access with my dog, she was however risking her job and a lawsuit, by asking for paperwork. I am not one to sue, I am one to educate in case someone else, who is more inclined to sue, should encounter this same problem

I'm not going to say this store doesn't have it's flaws BUT, this is the ONLY family dollar I've been that doesn't have rude employees. Well, unless you're stealing, of course. The parking lot usually is trashed but it isn't their fault, there is ALWAYS someone asking for money or cigarettes. There is an abundance of bums and drug addicts, sadly. That is anywhere on the Westside. I definitely feel for the employees there. They even have to have security there. The ONLY negative thing I have to say about the store itself that they can control would be the prices. A lot of things doesn't have price tags.
