Heed the warning of these reviews. Horrible company!! I called in for a tow at 7:00 at night and was given a 4 hour window. I was told there was 1 call in front of me that was a "priority tire change" on the interstate and that I was next in line. After no updates by text as promised I called back in multiple times, at 11:00 they tell me they're not coming. By now any other options I have are closed and I am stuck after waiting 3 hours. This happened to me exactly the same way about 2 years ago with this same company. They also towed my infinity g35 since then and drug the whole front of my car on the bed of the truck. The driver told me that was completely normal and was the reason manufacturers of car installed the plastic drag plates on the bottom of bumpers!!??.
I will say that Triple A at least tried to reason with them in an effort to change their mind about coming after the truck but the dispatcher literally laughed as she told us that he was not going to take the call. These people are a joke don't waste your time, call ANYONE ELSE. Unprofessional, they lie to you because they are only interested in the fast easy money tows. Wish there was a way to take back the 1 star I have to give them so I can leave them with the same exact zero that they left for me. Do better or close your doors, that simple

I don’t usually leave review so this is out of the ordinary for me. I’m 21 and I drive large vehicles for work that have needed towed several times. This time it happens to be my car, a mustang, that had gotten caught on the smallest patch of ice. I called AAA and asked if they could simply winch my car about 1 foot back onto the scraped pavement. They said sure absolutely, that it would be about an hour. . I would’ve just left my car where it sat except it was on a steep incline and I felt uncomfortable with it being on ice. Two hours have passed and I called because I hadn’t heard anything. The same woman answers and said “The driver said that couldn’t get to you”. I’m not sure how considering both sides of the hill was completely scraped. There were no obstructions to compromise the drivers ability to get to my car, I personally made sure of that. The issue really was is I sat there waiting for the tow truck that evidently was never coming. Why wouldn’t you just call the person to tell them that ? I wouldn’t rely on this place in the most dire of situations.

It's been a month, so I'm hoping I got the right towing service.Enterprise gave me a new Chrysler Pacifica mini-van with 13,000 miles on it - it made it through 2 days of driving to land me in Charleston, West Virginia. Went out one afternoon to find all electrics dead. AAA responded with Glen's (I believe) and a driver 'Rick' (again, I should've submitted this last month). Great guy - attempted a jump in parking lot of Best Western/Charleston, no dice, he suggested we head over to local Enterprise, we did, they sent us to the airport Enterprise, he took me and the van over there and he waited with me at the desk for keys to a Grand Cherokee (also new) which would ultimately get me through 7 days of driving, trouble-free. Many thanks to 'Rick' and his outfit for the 3 hour investment of time.

The staff at Hansford and driver James were extremely transparent and helpful. The tow experience itself was beyond reproach, dealing with AAA themselves though is an entirely different story unfortunately.Service: Car towing

American towing is a joke Tow truck driver at was very rude when I requested a tow for a vehicle I had just bought and tried to nit pick every little thing and tell me he wasn’t going to tow my vehicle then once he got here refused to drive to the address claiming road work but the workers came an assured me that he could have came through but chose not to then when I asked him if he could at least help me charge my battery and said absolutely not I’m not driving on that road how rude he gets paid to help us and he chose not too I will not ever in the future use American towing

Rude and unprofessional service provider and complete waste of time. Wouldnt even drive across a 4 inch of water shallow creek to retrieve a disabled vehicle. Save yourself hassle and call Charleston Auto or Hutches they will take care of you

Driver was good - apparently backed up from amount of calls/work orders so wait time was longer than anticipated from original call to truck arrival.

Waited hours. Gave up and hired an independent tow company to finally get service. The AAA affiliation is probably the problem.

Avoid this company. They don't care about vehicles or customer service.I wouldn't usually bother with a review for a bad tow, but these guys have refused to come out to tow me from Kanawha City twice now when other companies did so easily and inexpensively.Today, American Towing refused me service because the situation of my tow was too difficult for him to do without damaging my new truck.[The truck is in my driveway in my neighborhood with an open road and a parking lot across from my driveway. ] I asked that he send someone out to see what the situation entailed, as I'm neither a mechanic nor a tow expert and could not answer his technical questions. After explaining this to AAA, they dispatched Shilling's Towing, who, despite some wrong directions and an hours delay, arrived, ready to work and accomplished the job without any problems at all. I'll definitely request them if I ever need a tow again.Incidentally,I have been a Premium AAA Member for 31 years and have not ever been refused a tow, let alone, refused to be evaluated for a tow except one other time by this very same company just months ago because I didn't have my actual registration paperwork with my car (it is registered in Ohio and I had not brought my paperwork because I intended to drive it onto a trailer to tow it to Ohio, but unfortunately had to take it to a mechanic first because it didn't want to drive onto the trailer.)That is the reason I'm taking the time to do this review.

Awful service. Waited almost 3 hours, not in the middle of nowhere, but smack on the main road. Easy to get to via local roads or highways. I was told traffic was at a standstill. Well, Waze google maps and Apple Maps show NO delays. Only their tow truck driver faced delays?

I got to work and locked my keys in the car. I called American Towing and they did a great job helping me get back in my car. The gentleman was very kind and had me back in my car quickly. Totally would suggest this place if you are dealing with a car lockout.Service: Car lockouts

Supposed to be 24/7 towing company and all your drivers go home at 10:00pm on what would be the busiest night for your company.
