Always clean. Very well run. The camp host is the sweetest couple. They always come around to every camp site to see if your doing okay or need anything. They always make a point of speaking to my grand children and puppies. We have been to a lot of campgrounds over the years but this couple is what brings us back.
If your looking for a nice place to picnic, swim, enjoy a day on a beach setting, this is the place to be . There's a nice family run restaurant down in Brandywine, about a mile or e from the campground. Run by Tammy and Rudy mitts. Very clean, good prices, great food. Can't remember the name but it's the only restaurant on the same road as the campground. Just take a left out of the campground road and the restaurant is on the left a mile or so .

Great campground. Well maintained grounds, restrooms and shower house are well kept and very clean. Many great campsites to choose from. Lots of privacy. A must if you’re in the area. Look forward to coming back in the summer to enjoy the beach!

Beautiful nature. Trails are well kept and are close to the water most of the way which makes for pleasant sounds as you're walking. Don't be deterred if you see the gates closed. Just call them and they'll tell you where to park. They did warn of bears but we didn't see any. Actually, come to think of it, we didn't see or hear any animals while we hiked. We thought that was strange, a bit off, or like my fiction aficionada daughter would say.. liminal!

We just spent 3 nights/4 days tent camping at the Brandywine Recreation Area. This was our first time at this site and we were highly impressed. There are just 30 sites (all NON-electric) available in the whole Area, and they are nicely spaced from one another to allow privacy. Each site/pad was good-sized, with picnic table, fire ring, lantern post provided and we found and left all of it very clean. Actually, the whole Area was immaculately cared for. There is a 10-acre clean lake that allows for both fishing and swimming. A bathroom/hot shower station at the base of the entry into the Campground that was also very well maintained. Although there was never a Campground Ranger/Host on site, it was obvious that someone had recently tended to the property/amenities. Couple of notes: make sure you have gas before you get into Brandywine (as there is no gas at the Deli/gas station in Brandywine(don't let the Gas station pumps fool ya!) you'll have to go for about 20 miles into Franklin to find working pumps). Also, if you feel like having someone else do the cooking for a meal, check out The Log Cabin Restaurant about 2 miles south of the entrance into the Rec Area. Great food, friendly service, and reasonable prices!
