I want to start by saying my reviews is not a reflection of this branch or any of its employees. The teller that helped me today (I wish I could remember her name but I’m forgetful) was very helpful and did her job correctly. The way City National Bank as a whole is managed however, was disappointing. I have been with City National for over 7 years, during that time, not once have I overdrafted my account. I have always been in good standing and have never owed the bank money. I walked into the bank in hopes of getting a measly $3,000 personal loan. This loan would have costed me $150 a month. I did the math and I could have paid that payment 13 times over, with my monthly income. I had a rough winter, a lot of unexpected expenses came up during a time I couldn’t afford it. I’m now trying to get caught back up with no luck.My credit score is considered good, I work two jobs (45 hours a week), I have over 20k in credit lines available to me, I had no issue at all getting my hefty auto loan. But yet I was denied because I had two car payments that were paid 30 days late in the past (during the time I was struggling) which I have been caught up on for months, and because I didn’t make equal to, or more than what I was asking. Which I thought the whole purpose of requesting a loan, was because I didn’t have that amount of money available to me and decided to seek it elsewhere. If I made 3,000 a month I wouldn’t need the loan.To be fair I didn’t have anything to offer in collateral, but I decided my odds were pretty good considering all the other factors. Multiple incomes, good credit, and the small asking amount, the monthly payment only being $150. Also, the fact that I bank with them and I would have been more that willing to set up automatic payments to ensure they get the money each month. On top of the fact that the loan would be going directly to the credit card companies in which I was paying off with the loan.I don’t know what it takes to get a loan through this bank, good luck. I will be closing my accounts and banking elsewhere in the future.
